  1. ... Since you are both in California you should get together and play a round!
  2. ... I have a very smooth pendulum stroke and the putter head flows back and forth along the same arc and never wavers. But it has to have the right weight, balance and toe hang. I can stroke a putter in a golf store and it will waver going back and I immediately know it isn't a good fit for my stroke. As with all equipment, it should fit you not the other way around. Not saying this is the case with your putting but I just see so many fighting against their equipment instead of getting fit and having their equipment fit them. I find it especially true with putters.
  3. ... Really a no brainer for me. I am semi retired and have no plans for long trips. If I do, I will just rent a car. The convenience of charging over night and waiting in line to pump gas when the temps are going to be over 110* for 30 consecutive days is very nice. No real maintenance other than tire rotation and maybe brake replacement far down the road is it's own reward. But unless you have driven an EV it is hard to appreciate how smooth, quiet, silly fast when needed and how much fun they are to drive. I could never go back to ICE. Obviously the prices need to come down with economy EV's, which of course they will and technology is always improving so range will increase. But for now I can live with my 250 miles because I haven't come anywhere near needing 1/2 of that.
  4. ... Russ, I am beginning to think music on the course is similar to the parable of the blind men and the elephant. The group all touching a different part of the elephant and thinking the others are just so wrong. I have certainly heard groups playing music loudly that I can hear from at least a fairway over but it is not an every round occurrence. It is almost always companied by copious amounts of alcohol and rap or country. ... There is a generation that have grown up in a bubble surrounding them radiating out from their phones in a 6 foot circle. hard to blame them as they grew up in an age of technology with most everything at their fingertips. Many are just completely unaware of the world around them. I have been paired up with quite a few that have no concept at all of groups in front or behind them, just themselves and their friends. Leaving the tee on a par 5 while the group in front are walking off the green, they don't hesitate to stop the cart girl and take their time ordering their drinks. And some are playing music easily heard from 100 yds away. Don't hate the player, hate the game. If confronted, which has happened a few times they are not apologetic but offended someone entered their personal bubble. ... And before throwing stones at the younger generation, I have also experienced Boomers that are older, angry and bitter that know better but just don't give a sh!t. They are gonna smoke cigars and play music and if you don't like it go cry to mommy ya snowflake. ... I have said more than a few times here the best of both worlds is playing music you can hear from 6 feet away and if everyone in your group loves music on the course, 20 feet away. Music is an accompaniment for me and I don't need to hear it while teeing off, hitting shots or putting, just between shots while walking or riding. Because I love music and it makes me happy. But I also completely understand those that prefer the sound of silence. It always come down to understanding we are all different and being respectful of those around you.
  5. ... "No offense but" is usually a prelude to something offensive. So I won't say it. SB wedges. Lots of review descriptions included "click" or "clicky" and even a "harsh" and then there is my "clacky" and I doubt anyone finds that a term of endearment. Perhaps I am spoiled by the soft forged wedges I have played through the years including Scratch wedges that were forged from 1018 carbon steel, and it doesn't get any softer. So really no offense intended but ...
  6. ... Us guys aren't immune either. I turned 70 in March and plan to stay 70 for at least 5 more years.
  7. ... Dropping 8.4 strokes in 3 months is pretty amazing. I'm sure the new clubs play a big role but so does the guy swinging them. I think with the right clubs fitted to your swing, plenty of practice and a good mental attitude, it is pretty easy to drop from 30 to 20. The next drop from 20 to 10 takes even more dedication and of course 10 to 0 is a lifelong commitment. But you are on your way and I tip my huge sunhat to you!
  8. ... That's one of my favorite acting scenes. When an actor gets to act as a character it is two times as much fun. I got to do it only once playing a Texas Ranger accent and all y'all and the actor playing the role in Cupid starring Jeremy Piven as Cupid and it was a blast. ... And joking aside I have no doubt you will reach a 12 index. This was just the beginning.
  9. ... Hey, you don't have to convince me. I am on your team and you have my full support amigo! But if I weren't and I was a member of the jury? Guilty my friend. Guilty.
  10. ... Oh yea much better! 22.6 index with an easy up and down 3 holes in a row. Save it for your 6'4" 250lb cell mate that thinks cheeseheads are cute. I have one word and two numbers as evidence when you are tried in Public Court before hearing "Your Honor, the jury unanimously finds JNoble Guilty of Sandbagging in the First Degree": NET 6 0
  11. ... Well, the competition was already decided so you didn't actually help the Losers ... and you did vote for Team #1 so ... Naw not hated at all. We're actually glad you put it on the line and joined in the competition.
  12. ... Oh he!! yea JnotsoNoble, that is pretty much the text book definition of a 22.6 index player using only 4 clubs!!! ... On a more honest note, my bag review is up!
  13. ... I have been giving this some thought and came up with "After Hours Spy Saloon" for our new home. Opinions welcome.
  14. ... And good for you both. While the competition was a ton of fun, it never was about winning or losing. Getting better is the win and you both deserve it!
  15. ... Thanks Shanks. I didn't put it in the review but I had my 81 yr old pard hit a shot with my 58* and he didn't see where it went and looked up and said "Did I shank that? It felt like it must have hit the hosel".
  16. ... You certainly could have chosen a much less slimy video but guilty as charged.
  17. ... They system is flawed in favor of higher index players, especially in a net competition. Then add someone like JNoble and yourself in the middle of improving that isn't yet reflected in your index and it makes it even more unfair. Many tournaments won't allow two high index players on the same team for this reason. Considering Tom and I both shot 4 under gross 68's, grinding our azzes off and our best ball score would have been a 63 ... which is only good enough for 3rd place I think you can see the issue. ... That said, don't hate the player because that's the game and them's the rules.
  18. ... A net 60 using only 4 clubs? You two should be ashamed of yourselves!
  19. ... Perfect! I have a friend that played golf in high school so I guess he's ready for the Open Championship!
  20. ... I hope you love performing under pressure. The last infomercial I shot I counted 47 people on set making it happen with just me on camera. It is crazy busy, all of them hustling and bustling about and then suddenly, dead silence and all 47 sets of eyes on you and expecting you to perform without making any mistakes. If you love that kind of attention ... Welcome to Showbiz my man!
