  1. ... OMG!?! Country AND Gospel? (This calls for an illegal cat meme)
  2. ... and just like that you are a song writer!
  3. ... I was listening to a rock station here in Phoenix and the DJ was gettin' ready to play a song from his LP. He said he had gotten a few comments about why are you playing country music on a rock station? And he said first off this LP transcends categories, it's just great music and 2nd'ly get over yourself and quit putting labels on music and just use your ears. When I got home I listened to some of it and I bought the LP. Sounds amazing on an audiophile system.
  4. ... I did what was akin to a prison term of one year working at a Country music station doing afternoons from 2pm-6pm. Thought I got away from it when I moved from NC all the way to Chicago but I musta pi$$ed of some Radio Gawd because the new owners went from Classic Rock to country. That said, I was telling a friend how much I dislike country and he turned me on to this gem and it made me rethink my anti country stance:
  5. ***Boomer Warning*** ... One of the interesting (depressing) aspects of current music is how myopically self centered it is. My musical appreciation was formed in the 70's when music was about how to make the world a better place. Today it seems to be mostly about me, Me, ME! I just feel like a Taylor Swift that is soooo immensely talented just sings about herself and her love interests when she could be opening teens eyes and ears to issues outside their 6 foot circle. ... There are many but these two come to mind when it comes to what the 70's were all about, and sadly just as true today as when they were written:
  6. ... I hope to hear from others with their favorite lyrics and or song writers. “If music be the food of love, play on, Give me excess of it; that surfeiting, The appetite may sicken, and so die.”–Shakespeare
  7. ... Great topic for discussion, but for me there are just waaaaaay too many. Plus some lyrics can just reach deep into my soul. I have a schizophrenic son that has been on and off the streets by choice and the Boxer breaks my heart. The 2nd is a universal longing from the Indigo Girls. I really love poignant lyrics and great writing. When I left my home and my family I was no more than a boy In the company of strangers In the quiet of the railway station Running scared Laying low, seeking out the poorer quarters Where the ragged people go Looking for the places only they would know Guess I wasn't the best one to ask Me myself with my face pressed Up against love's glass To see the shiny toy I've been hoping for The one I never can afford The wide world spins and spits turmoil And the nations toil for peace But the paws of fear upon your chest Only love can soothe that beast And my words are paper tigers No match for the predators of pain inside her I say love will come to you Hoping just because I spoke the words that they're true As if I offered up a crystal ball to look through Where there's now one there will be two And I wish her insight to battle love's blindness Strength from the milk of human kindness A safe place for all the pieces that scattered Learn to pretend there's more than love that matters
  8. ... and I remember when a phone was on a cord in the kitchen. ... If you played with me you would not be able to hear my music playing on the tee or the green and not in the fairway either unless you were right next to me. But if my music even at that low of a level bothered you at all, it would be great if you let me know because I would just turn it off. I LOVE music keeping me company but at level where I can still hear the wildlife and the wind as well as my partner when we are talking. I am lucky because all my playing partners love 70's music when we play. ... I also think many posting here didn't bother to read previous comments because they seem to think everyone plays their music LOUD. And of course some do and they are most inconsiderate, but many more are playing music at such a low level they never hear it. As has been said many times in this thread, it is always about being considerate of others.
  9. ... Of the 551 folks online at this moment, only one NEEDS a new putter. And that because his was stolen.
  10. ... Awesome shaft if it fits your swing. Every fitting I have done, the Tensei Blue is in the running. I see so many on the LPGA tour and used by some of the longer hitters. I am playing the Ventus Red Velocore but I could switch to the Tensei Blue and be perfectly happy. Looking forward to hearing how it works for you!
  11. ... Shipped via UPS. Be sure and look in the box for a little sumpin' extra.
  12. ... Great question! After doing reviews for so long and switching equipment constantly for 20 years, I get used to new clubs very quickly. My usual driver miss is slightly high toward the toe but like everyone, on any given swing I can be all over the face. But those misses most likely are center high/low and toward the toe high/low. I rarely ever hit toward the heel. So my misses are just better for me with the HD that also produces a little more spin than the AJ. And to be fair to the AJ Max, it isn't a huge difference but a subtle one. As I said if I liked the look, feel and sound I might still be playing it. The HD just looks great to my eye at address and I love the sound and feel and it has performed well for me, so it was always an uphill battle for the AJ.
  13. ... After not receiving another bid, and I didn't expect one after Dougs amazingly generous offer of $280! I am closing the bidding and sending the wedges to @funkyjudge! As promised I am matching his donation bringing the total to $560 and since Doug was so generous I will increase it to a $600 donation for Feeding America. Doug I was hoping to get to $200 but you went well above that! You are Da Man and I can't thank you enough for your donation and I sincerely hope you enjoy these Snake Bite wedges!!
  14. ... As with all equipment, if I like everything about it any mistakes are on me and I don't even think of the equipment. But say I don't like the sound/feel but I hit well, I hardly notice at all but it is in the back of my mind. However, if I hit it poorly I immediately think of the sh!ttee sounding/feeling club.
  15. ... If I liked the more explosive sound and feel of the AJ, I could put up with the elongated shape. My longest tee shots were longer with the AJ compared to my Stealth2 HD, but also my shortest. That said it does have a lot of potential. The HD is consistently longer and produces better dispersion. Not a night and day difference but I am just a little more accurate with the HD. And I love the look, sound and feel. Again, if I liked the sound/feel I would probably still be playing it and trying to hone in the accuracy. I wish you the best of luck but comparing a TSi3 and an AJ is really a win-win anyway!
  16. ... The V2 spun too much for me as well. To be clear I have not done a direct ball to ball test with the Maxfli Tour and V3 but I have not had any problems with ballooning or the V3 coming up short or excessive short game spin. I have hit second tee shots with the Maxfli and itseems pretty equal in distance to the V3. When I get a chance to do a more in depth comparison, I may find the Maxfli is a little longer but I imagine no more than a few yards, if that. If they were the same price I wouldn't even consider the V3 but at less than 1/2 the price of the Maxfli and 4 dozen V3's for the price of 1 dozen ProV1's, playing about 250 rounds a year the savings is significant. ... Here is what I consider the no brainer. For $28 you get 2 dozen V3's. If they don't work for you, they make a great practice ball or a gift for a friend or a premium ball for your kids. I mean really ... it's $28.
  17. ... Thanks. Yea maybe just the pictures but the Sugar looks ultra white and shiny to me. That said, I am very picky about my clubs and balls.
  18. ... You guys were smarter. We didn't have weight limits (we should have) and the league started when you were in the 3rd grade. But I was big enough for a 2nd grader, my Dad was training with Special Forces and gone for most of my youth and the League president was my next door neighbor. I wanted to play and my Mom played the "No Dad" sympathy card so he let me play. LOL social media would destroy him today but it was awesome. I didn't start til the next year but I did get in some games and learned a lot for the future. I played OLB through the 5th grade but middle school football started in the 6th grade and after that I only played QB. I hated defense. My DE son LOVES to correct me if I ever say I played football with "You didn't play football Dad. You played QB".
  19. ... After not receiving another bid (I didn't expect one after Dougs amazingly generous offer) I am closing the bidding and sending the wedges to @funkyjudge! Doug you are Da Man and I can't thank you enough for your donation and I sincerely hope you enjoy these Snake Bite wedges!!
  20. ... I started playing QB in the 2nd grade. (PeeWee football in pads and full contact that in retrospect was far too early but it was the early 60's ) But what I learned very quickly was negative thoughts produce negative results and positive thoughts produce positive results. And as @Lacassem described there is a HUGE difference between being negative and comprehending a teachable moment. Like everyone that plays sports, I have leaned more from my failure than my success and I have always viewed those failures as a positive experience.
  21. ... Ya can lead a horse to water and all. One of my old playing pards back in Chicago was more neutral but he could get really negative at times if struggling. I am always supportive and positive in life and golf. One day after a few bad shots he sliced a ball OB off the tee and almost before he finished his backswing he turned to me and shouted "AND I DON'T WANNA HEAR ANY OF YOUR F**KING HAPPY TALK!!!!"
  22. ... Maybe you can answer this Ben, but the pictures seem to show a very shiny cover that looks like a cheap surlyn covered ball to my eye. I know it's urethane but my lifelong personal bias just won't let me play a shiny cheap looking ball. The original CUT ball had this same look. I know pictures can be deceiving and wondered if they look the same in person?
  23. ... Still morning here so a hello to the east coast too. Finally got to play yesterday after a 15 day lay off due to intense heat and 5 days of work (Yea!) A little worried about being rusty after the longest layoff in 4 years but started birdie-birdie and then added two more and one bogie to shoot -3 on the front. What little wind we had died on the back 9 and running into a couple 4somes it was uncomfortable at 113* and mid 20's humidity (high for Phoenix) so only managed all pars with another bogie on the back. ... Shot(s) of the day from my playing pard that didn't break 100. On a 551 yd par 5 he hit his tee shot thin but it rolled forever and he was only about 20yds behind my drive. He then hit a 3 wood even thinner and it rolled quite a ways leaving him a 5 iron to the green. This time he basically bladed his shot and like a 160yd putt it rolled down the fairway, up the slope in front of the green and headed right for the flag, hit it dead square bouncing back about 2 inches. It would have been his very first eagle and he didn't hit one good shot! Ya gotta love this game!
