  1. Agreed. I have the GG Live right now, so it's hard to justify the $200+ price (which is the discount level). For my part, I use it so often that I tend to double-tag shots more often than I forget to tag; I'll tag subconsciously just as part of my preshot routine, and then wonder if I did, and tag again. Here's the big difficulty in selling me on it: I upgraded from GG to GG Live. The chief difference is that with Live, it's connected by Bluetooth to your phone, and so you can see everything in real time. That is awful for my game, because I'm a bit OCD, and end up tweaking little things (pin positions, whether a putt was from the green, adding penalties, etc.) during the round. I ended up still using my GG Live on every round, but without using the Live feature at all: I just plug it in to the computer and upload rounds after the fact, doing all the tweaking then. I want the data; I love data. But the tagging doesn't really get in my way, and I don't want to use the Caddie (because I don't want to connect to my phone). But I hope that Pro sells well, because the company has all my data
  2. Very interesting that this thread should have just been revived. I just got an email an hour ago offering me the opportunity to buy (at a discount) the new GG Pro, with the caddie shipping, with shipping promised on January 4. So they are not dead yet! They just posted this video five days ago:
  3. Anyone have any information on the state of the company? I'm still using my GameGolf Live, but it seems clear that they're not updating it any longer. I'm wondering if, at some point, I need to consider switching over to another stat-tracking system.
  4. I'm also using the site on a phone now, and it looks like signatures don't appear in the mobile site. Poking around to see if there's any option to turn them on, but it makes sense that they're off on a smaller screen.
  5. You'd be looking for the Tour line: same shape, lighter weight. The Aware Tour is 55g: https://p2grips.com/shop-putter-grips/p2-aware-tour/
  6. Playing with a gadget, looking for feedback. I've got a camera that takes 360° photos and video. Trying to figure out how to share the photos here. Here's a Facebook link to a photo of my putting area: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10157353000636393&id=586016392&sfnsn=cl I'm interested to know if this works for anyone.
  7. Thanks for giving me my very first job. So I've got my first merge under my belt. Hoping it's a long time until my first ban
  8. Mike, welcome the forum. Top notch first post there! I can certainly say that doing the protocols in a group like this helps a lot on the days when you just don't feel like it. So welcome aboard, and we'll be looking forward to following your progress!
  9. Another week in the books here. I'd characterize as a week of consolidating gains: That said, I had a highlight worth mentioning. I love those last three swings, where you challenge yourself to go all out and see what you can hit. I'd been swinging really well today, and so I got to the last three and really wanted to grab a 130 average for the first time. First swing: 133. Awesome. Second swing: 127. OK, now I've got some work. Third swing: 134! Yes! That's a really good feeling to have a target and hit it like that. At the risk of sounding like the jerk who asks whether you inhale or exhale at impact (truly not my intention here): do you do your protocols with or without imagining a ball in front of you?
  10. Rev, I saw the picture first without the description, and my first thought was, "Oh no, another radar bit the dust!" I've done back-to-back workouts before, when scheduling demanded it. Typically, I've ended up going early the first day, then afternoon the second day, just to space them out a bit. Can't say that I saw any ill effects.
  11. It is a great privilege to be chosen to be moderator here at MyGolfSpy. I've been an active member here for just over a year now, and am convinced that this is the world's best golf forum. Most of the time, the moderators here are regulated to Maytag repair duty, at least as it relates to moderating conversations, simply because we have such a great community. But that frees us up to plan ideas to continue to improve and expand the forum. So I'm glad to be at your service! My current Twitter account is @mpatrickriley. I've also reserved @GolfSpyMPR, which I'll use exclusively for golf-related stuff (if you're not interested in theology and my kids).
  12. Just did some surgery on my Samsung tablet. The adhesive holding the bottom of the glass down had loosened. This meant that the buttons there only worked if I pressed hard enough to connect them. First world problem, but annoying nonetheless. So I bought some double-sided tape made for the purpose. I used my heat gun to loosen the rest of the adhesive and slipped a guitar pick around the edge to lift the screen off the frame. Peeled off all the remaining glue, applied the tape, then put the screen back in. So far, so good. Always fun to fix something, especially when you've not done it before and you're not totally sure what you're doing.
  13. Just ordered a Sun Mountain Reflex push cart. Budget Golf is selling them for $73 on eBay—cheaper than through their own website, and it's free shipping: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F391927232299 I think I'm claiming this one for myself, and I'll modify my current cart for carrying my son's bag. I love walking the course with him.
  14. Speeds were steady or down across the board today. On the theme of morning vs. afternoon sessions, I'm going to blame my mediocre speeds today on the portion size for the fajita plate at the Mexican place where I ate lunch
  15. Another week in the books here! Solid incremental improvement continues: remember, my chart is an average of standing, dominant-hand swings: I hit a milestone this week: my red stick average is now the same as my green stick final swings from Week 1. I'm certainly pleased by that. For my own part, I began a general fitness routine roughly the same time I began SuperSpeed training. It's nothing elaborate: I get on the exercise bike for a half-hour on MWF, and then go through a routine on my BowFlex-ish machine on TThS. I have to think that's also contributing to the steady rise in my numbers.
  16. Here's a possibility (and I'm way underqualified to pretend I know anything here): at least in theory, we'd recognize that for a given body/build/fitness, at a certain point, you've maxed out all the speed you have there. Again, I don't know you, and I'm no physiologist, but it seems like at least a shot-in-the-dark possibility.
  17. I hate to be theologically pedantic (ah, who am I kidding? I love being theologically pedantic), but winter and hell are actually quite opposite each other.
  18. I'm not really a put-clothes-on-my-dog kinda guy, but it is cold here, and my wife thought it would be cute. Given her expression, I think Rohan is in agreement with my basic position on dog clothes.
  19. By all I have found, the ball is on the face for .0004 seconds. At 240fps (the max speed of my camera), that's still 10x too slow (if I'm thinking about this correctly) to guarantee a picture of impact. I may give it a shot sometime, just to see what happens.
  20. Here's the swing (with a SuperSpeed stick) in all its glory: We'll call this one: "Before."
  21. I suspect that some of you have already seen this product: https://www.liveviewgolf.com/ The basic idea is simple: video is a proven help in making swing changes. But if you've ever tried to work with video on your own, you know it can be a real pain. Set up the camera (hoping you've got it framed correctly), start the camera, swing, run back to the camera, play it back (typically on a tiny screen), see if you did the swing thing you were hoping to do. Video with a coach can be very useful, but what if you 1) don't have a coach or 2) are just working on something on your own time? What Live View does, then, is give you a camera that you can set up on the range that connects wirelessly to your tablet. You can set your tablet directly in front of you, and you can see your swing in real time. This is even better than mirror work, because (and I trust we've all done this) you don't have to change your head position to see the video that's directly in front of you. As with many golf gadgets, though, Live View carries a non-trivial price tag. So I wanted to see if I could replicate its functionality on a budget. Insert the action camera! Some of you, no doubt are familiar with these. The most popular are the GoPro line of cameras, but again, they are pricey. So I picked up a used version of this Yi 4K Action Camera from eBay. It's worth noting that Yi has a couple other models, some even cheaper, like this one, which with the coupon available now on Amazon is only $45. My hunch is that it would function the same for this purpose as the one I bought. The biggest difference is that the cheaper model doesn't record in 240fps, which I really wanted for slow motion swing analysis. The camera is impressively tiny: The camera itself has only a single button, but the back is an excellent touchscreen: I got the camera and downloaded the corresponding app to my Android tablet. The camera creates its own WiFi network. Once you connect the camera and tablet, just as I hoped, it allows you to stream the video from the camera to the tablet in real time. I already had one of these little tripods sitting around, which is perfect for my purpose here. It's worth noting that the GoPro style cameras offer roughly a billion different accessories for mounting the cameras on things, so there's bound to be something that works for whatever setup you have in mind. And then I picked up this cheap case for my tablet, which has a little kickstand in the back: This creates a nearly perfect setup. I can set the tablet direct in front of me; the camera app supports landscape mode, so everything is properly oriented. There's a fraction of a delay, but nothing that ruins its usefulness at all. My goal for the camera initially is to allow me to work on my 1) wrist angles and 2) early extension. These are related in my swing; if I can flatten my lead wrist at the top of my backswing, I'll keep the club shallower through transition. If I keep the club shallower, I don't need to stand up to save the swing. As for the setup: it works. The basic functionality is exactly what I hoped it would be. I already had a tablet, and the camera cost me far less than half of what the Live View Golf camera would. In addition, I can use the camera for other things; for instance, I'm hoping to get a drone with a GoPro mount to take video footage. That's not something that LVG, being a single-purpose device, would do. The cons I see so far: The tablet app doesn't support any kind of mark up on the screen. This is something LVG does do. It would be great to be able to draw lines on the video as reference points when I'm swinging. The app also shows the video exactly as it's recorded. This is perfect for down-the-line video; when you look at the screen, everything makes sense. But for face-on video, it isn't mirrored, so everything looks backwards. This doesn't seem to me to be an insurmountable problem, but it's worth noting. If anyone else is interested in this setup, and you have questions, feel free to ask. I'll probably post another few updates as to whether I find that the video is helping me make actual progress toward my swing goals.
  22. One day, a major OEM is going to run this ad: "Our clubs stayed in Rob's bag for 3 months. Enough said."
  23. I finished my third workout of the week, and my numbers were pretty much where the were the first two workouts. That isn't a disappointment: this week saw a huge jump in performance for me. Having the three sticks absolutely creates an interesting psychological situation. It isn't merely the whole "My brain now thinks it's OK for me to swing this fast." There's that, but there's also just the innate competitiveness that it brings out, that self-motivation. When I hit a certain level with the green stick, for instance, I get somewhat disgruntled when I see a lower number with the blue or the red. My expectations for those swings change. This isn't a trivial thing. I'm not a "power of positive thinking mystic," but we know that (for instance), if you're working out, and you aim to do 10 reps, 9 and 10 seem hard. But somehow, if you aim to do fifteen, the fatigue doesn't kick in until 13. Brains are weird. So at least for me, having the three sticks, and starting light and going to the heavy, is a great way of tricking my brain's expectations.
  24. Top picture: three months ago. Bottom picture: this morning.
