  1. I played standard all my life until last year when I went nidsize. I wear a L or XL gloce depending on brand. I loved mudsize at first but then started realizing I was struggling to maintain a good grip; especially in mishits. I just went back to regular wirh an extra wrap after playing around a bit. I got two buckeyts on the grips and 27 holes and zero complaints about going back. I say whatever feels right.
  2. New clubs will come in the offseason. Put new grips and played around with them. Winn Dritacs. Love the feel and didnt break the bank for less than a years play while I shop for new sticks. Been sick a couole weeks and havent been om a course byt tomorrow that will change. Ran through all my clubs to get feel of new grips and worked on driver since thats what cost me penalty strokes a couole weeks ago.
  3. Starting to feel better but not enough to hit the course. Hit large bucket with nothing special other then running through my clubs to losen tge body after being mostly in hed a good part of a week. Contemplated putting a hundred buck in grips on my 30 year old Eye 2, or go ahead and spend $600ish on some new 716 AP1..decisions.
  4. Ive been sick and missed 4 days of work and the crap is still hanging on. Supposed to play Chambers Bay Sunday but doubtful I will make it and probably a bad idea. Dropped putter off yesterday and had new grip put on. Picked it up today and had a standard cheap grip put on my 7i just to see how I liked it compared to my midsize. Played with it over a small bucket and I think I will go back to regular on all my clubs. Easier on my hands, wrists, and forearms. Ive been working on working the ball and I feel like it will be easier for me to do so with the standard size. Felt so much better!!
  5. My name is Bill....ex girlfriend used to golf with me and when she would leave a putt short she would say "pulled a Bill" since I have a tendency to leave putt shorts. Good reminder for me to get it up and in.
  6. Played 18 this morning, then home for yard work and pool cleaning, then back out by myself for another 18. Best part of the day was that the sun was out!! 92 first round...even thru 5 then went 8 over next 3..Struggled off the tee big time. Second 18 was am 88...still struggled off the tee and short iron play was horrendous!! Almost laughable actually as I took more penalty stroke my last 3 rounds then I have all year. Did I say the sun was out?
  7. 84 today in soppy and windy conditions. 3 doubles thanks to penalty strokes. Really disappointed in my driving today compared to my last two range sessions. Broke out an old Ping putter and was really pleased wih it. Been working on working the ball and tried it out with moderate success. Still trying to figure out aiming points in relation to target. Dinner and then sown for some putting practice. Hope you all had a great day!
  8. Hit a medium bucket with about 2/3 of that playing with 2 different drivers. I generally hit a power fade but will lose on right. I played around with some lead tape on the heel of one of them and didnt see much if any imorovement. I do feel that I lost a few yards with it though. Ill hit them on the course tomorrow to check that out closer. Played around with working the ball and getting pretty confortable and confident with 5i to wedge and will use it tomorrow. Another good practice session as Im gearing up for Chambers Bay in a couple weeks. Not real good at bunker play so I will hit a few fairway bunkers along the way tomorrow and hit a few.
  9. Yea...guilty as well. Didnt work on that but it has been in my mind tge last fee weeks.
  10. Went to work on putting and chipping, but the hail and rain kept me undercover. Worked on punch shots, clock work with my wedge, and about half the bucket went to working or my attempt at working it. Very pleased with the progress I made.
  11. I generally will open stance and punch 7 irons to get some confidence.
  12. 83 today with one 3 putt Nd one double both on 18...my nemesis for some reason. Always been a tough birdie but reasonably easy par. This year I struggle to a bogey most rounds on it. First round with shorts and short sleeve short. Played with my new ro me 7 dollar Maxfli driver (Goodwill) and hit it very well. Never even touched my Callaway. Somehow ledt my old Ping Eye 2 8 iron on 11 and backtracked til I came across a guy who found it on 11..hmm...odd as Im very careful. Discovered it gone on 15 when I needed it. Been practicing my my low punch shots and used it successfully a couple times today.
  13. Here is the frustrating part of weighing daily and I will probably stop after tomorrow and go to weekly and let the mirror and belt loop tell the story. Been 264 to 265 the last few days even though Ive exercised and ate right. Yesterday I worked 16 hours but planned for it and packed 1900 calories worth of food for my meals. I got in plenty of steps, drank my water, and fugured Id be good. Stepped on scale this morning and it was luje 268.5 ...wth! Past experience tells me this will happen but still a little frustrating. Today is the start of my weekend which means a few errands to do, hour of yard work, but instead of the gym I will walk 18 since its sunny and 60 here today then back to the rain. I will step on acale tomorrow morning just to make sure it goes down as Im sure it will and I will be back to 264 or lower in a few days. Actually, by the end of the week I expect to be 260.
  14. Thank you. Little aggressive on the caloric intake but I just want that initial weight loss for quick results. I weigh every morning when I get up but that will stop after a couple weeks after clothes start fitting differently. Then it will be once a week just to verify Im going in the right direction. Good luck to all as it isnt easy.
  15. Jumping in late but I was 278 Feb 28th and Im 265 this morning. Logging everything I eat and currently no alcohol and limit myself to a diet soda or two a week. No sweets and I pack lunch everyday at work even though I can eat for free...which is one reason I got to 278. Im doing cardio most days as well as weight lifting. My long goal is 215 but Im looking to be in the 240s by June 8th for daughters graduation. I have been doing 1500 calories a day on no workout days and go to 2000 on heavier days.
  16. Hit the range instead of the course. Had to change u joints in the truck. Worked on grip, alignment, weight distribution, and follow through...the basics...Much better and got the swing back in order with the irons. Need to tweak with woods a bit but better also. Considering going back to standard grips from midsize with exra wrap. Struggling with grip and hanging on to the club at times. Hit a couple demos with standard grips to check things out and seriously going back as it was just more comfy.
  17. Playing April 8th. Have a date on the re-seeding?
  18. Picked up a couple used hybrids and driver so hit the range to play with them. Planned on some chipping and putring but pretty steady rain kept me under cover. Id been playing decent golf them things went to hell. Really trying to find that groove and rhythm that had me playing well. Not sure I made any real progress. Tomorrow I will take just a couple short irons out and play with them. Going to Chambers Bay un a few weeks so I will start working on some pubch shots and bump and runs.
  19. Picked up a couple Taylor Made hybrids and a Maxfli driver today st Goodwill. All good shape for 21 bucks for all 3. Hit the driver better than my Callaway with actually couple yards longer and better ball flight. Hybrids..hmm...not so much on the love.
  20. Played 18 after work and probably should have stayed home. 89..nothing good to say other than a few short iron shots. Time to head to the range to straighten myself out a few days and find my tempo. All out of whack .
  21. First off the tee with half hour frost delay. Much better round today than yesterday. 79...Only hit 5 fairways but no terrible misses. 8 GIR...33 putts...Really need to work on my putting. Par 71 course. Love being first off the box as I can set my own pace.
  22. I also got stuck behind 2 very slow groups with really no place to go. The kind of group that that forgets clubs and towels across the green on every hole, writes their scores in the carts next to the green, and cant hit the ball across the water. And being superstitious I went against that today. I have ALWAYS played with a white glove but picked up several black gloves for cheap at the PDX golf show. I almost bailed after 9 but gutted it out. First 18 as a non smoker and it almost got the best of me. Rant and complaining over....
  23. Played 18 today and struggled, kicked, and fought hard to shoot an 86. Frost delay, clear and breezy. Two birdies. An 8 iron to two feet. The second was another 8 iron to the top tier leaving a long downhill big breaking putt. Only hit 7 greens and 6 fairways. Something like 34 putts..not a great round. At it again in the morning and I dont anticipate a delay with cloud cover in its way.
  24. Sun finally came back out here in my part of Oregon and I managed to get 9 in. Shot 40 gping +3 on 17 and 18. 18 has haunted for for years. Huge sloped green over a creek.Probably a 3 club difference from to back.
  25. Sounds wonderful for a summer evening beverage.
