  1. The Sand Box logo is SO GOOD
  2. I typically try to be there at least 30 minutes ahead of time. 45 minutes feels like my sweet spot time, but it depends on various factors. If I have one or both of my little guys with me, we usually are only 15-20 minutes early because it just works better for them. If I am going to play with friends or a solo round and my wife has both boys, it's usually 30 minutes max. 4 hours alone with our wild children can get to be a lot, so I try not to ask too much extra of her as I value her time during those rounds.
  3. It may bite me in the butt, but I am overally pretty happy with the CB room in Green Bay currently. Would be a huge boost for Eric Stokes to get and stay healthy, which is a coin flip at best, but when he was fully healthy his rookie year he was pretty solid. Of course most people only remember his blown coverages against Tampa Bay in the NFC Championship game, but he's got potential still in my book. I would love to see GB somehow get their hands on Cooper De Jean in the second round as he is versatile enough to play safety, but think they will have to move up from their first slot to do so.
  4. It definitely is slick and would make me think twice about using it for a round at a place like Sand Valley, should I play there in the future and go with a caddie. I know they typically prefer single strap, but with how easy it is to swap them out I'd probably bring both and let them decide. They may also not care one bit haha and this is all hypothetical as I doubt I'll be playing there this year but the kind of stuff that goes through my head.
  5. Another thing I'll note with the Ghost straps is that while the lining is the super premium, plush velvety material, I have found it to feel pretty slippery on my shoulder when using the single strap. For short distances (vehicle to driving range, etc.) it doesn't really pose an issue. If I were to walk a round, it would be a no doubt double strap carry. Kudos to the caddies who solo strap multiple times a day lol
  6. Gotta admit @chisag, the Bears offense should shape up to be very exciting to watch this year. I know you were hoping for a defensive pick at #9, but hard to dislike the Odunze pick from an outsider's vantage point. If Williams shapes up to be the player he could/should be, the NFC North could be in for some fireworks in conference matchups which will be A LOT of fun to watch!
  7. Also little update on the LE Masters DARKSPEED driver I won.....all the LH X heads are out of stock So I will be opting for the standard X in 9*, which I am not upset by at all as I LOVE the matte crown finish on the King Tec hybrid. Not sure when I will get it, but as soon as I do pics will be inbound! Also potentially getting the Ventus TR Blue 6X...not sure on that yet though. The person who I won the draw through (@jesusofgolf), was going to see if they would put that in for me. He's also a fun follow, so go check him out!
  8. Congrats on the milestone! You've been a fantastic member and we are very glad to have you here! Looking forward to another 500 more and beyond!
  9. These are awesome, and I love the "back to the target longer" feel thought. That, paired with feeling keeping my hands inside on my takeaway, has helped me start to work out of my case of the shanks. Don't know if I've said it yet or not either, @Byrnzee, but the swing looks like it is coming along great man!
  10. Got out with my oldest son yesterday afternoon to play 9 and we had a great time. Save for two holes, I played a very solid round and shot a 47. The reason I say this was a very solid round is because that 47 included two triples, including the 1st hole. Early on I was topping everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, with woods. Thankfully, iron striking was solid throughout the round. I had 2 three putts, both on the triple bogey holes. So I played +5 through the other 7 holes. Some highlights from the round: On hole 2, 176 yard 6 iron into the wind to pin high just off the green On hole 3, flushed 8 iron 161 yards but slight overdraw and missed the green right, again pin high On hole 7, 251 yard drive but again over drawn, ended up next to a stump. Punched it forward with a 6 iron and was just off the 14 green but a good look at the green on 7. Arguably best shot execution next with a 3H where I hit a high draw that ended up just off the back of the fringe. 52* chip to 1 foot to save par. On hole 8, 257 yard draw to middle of fairway, 3/4 swing 60* to 15 feet, left birdie putt short 2' for par On hole 9, 253 yard drive, slight over draw that kicked down a bank. 6 iron punch to the fairway, 30 yard 60* to the green, 40' lag putt to 2' bogey A lot of good to take away from the round, and just continuing to work on ball striking and consistency to avoid the blow up holes. I am feeling confident that by peak season, I can be consistently shooting in the low 40s and am aiming to break 40/80 on 9/18 holes this summer
  11. Really bummed I missed out on the live convo yesterday, but it was a good trade off as my oldest and I played 9 and he was striping it all day . Gonna give it a listen now, though!
  12. Good morning fellow spies and happy Friday! The day is off to a great start as it is Free Coffee Friday at work. The hospital board of directors occasionally sponsors a coffee truck to come on site and provide employees with free coffee! Tough to beat that! Got to play 9 holes of golf yesterday with my oldest and we had a blast. I shot a 47, but did so with two triples on the card. Outside of those two holes, I played +5 over the other 7. Off the tee started really slow and I was topping everything, but the great news is that my iron striking was above average all day. Driver and other woods also got going as the round went on, and I finished with three drives of 250+ on the final three holes. Also had two three putts, which were both on the triple holes, so as the season progresses and I can manage those blow up holes, scoring in the low 40s is absolutely in the realm of consistent play. Tomorrow morning we are supposed to have our youth baseball clinic, but weather is looking dicey and it may get postponed. We do have team photos either way. It is also my oldest son's birthday tomorrow and he is turning 7! We are going to have my parents and in-laws over for cake and presents that evening and will all go to a brat feed fundraiser at his school for dinner beforehand. On Sunday, we are going to the Kalahari in Wisconsin Dells, as it is tradition to go to a waterpark for birthdays. Should be a really fun weekend. Also attached here is a photo of one of the MANY drives my oldest hit yesterday that were dead straight and long. He hit 4 drives of 85 yards or more, which I think is pretty darned good for his age with no real formal golf instruction. He's very excited for a summer of playing! IMG_2719.mov
  13. @Shlax that Ronin bag is . Definitely agree that the carbon fiber accents give it a more stand out type look than the all black, which I'm sure looks great as well. The Oreo also has the same back padding material and I dig it.
  14. ALL OF THE ABOVE!!!! I get not everyone cares, but I sure as heck do
  15. I'm a stringent always headcover on putter player as well. I have Spider Tour Platinum circa 2017 that looks nearly brand new, save for a couple small dings in the paint that are just unavoidable. It truly makes me cringe when I see used putters online beaten to crap, and then people trying to get top dollar for them lol. I get the "tools, not jewels" stance, but if I can help keep something look new, I'm gonna do it. Irons, however, I don't care. Funny how that works lol.
  16. My wife just got off the phone with our pediatrician and there was nothing alarming to him based on the lab results for our youngest. I can now breathe again and enjoy the day. Thanks for the individual responses, guys. I again just can't state enough how appreciative I am of this community. It feels like an extension of family, and it is what makes me truly love this place!
  17. Good morning fellow spies and happy Thursday. Looks to be a nice sunny day here today with highs in the low 60s. Had our second baseball practice last night which my son unfortunately had to miss due to a case of pink eye. Sounds like it is going around in his classroom so no real surprise he picked that up. Already started eye drops and he should be able to go to school tomorrow. His birthday is Saturday (turning 7) and we are planning on going to a waterpark hotel Sunday and both boys will get the day off school Monday. Our youngest has some sort of nasty upper respiratory infection it seems like with gunky coughs and a plugged up nose, so hoping he feels better by then. He had also been getting one random fever a week (except this week) for the last probably month or so that wouldn't even last a full day and then be gone. We took him in to see the pediatrician yesterday in regards to that and now whatever he's dealing with, and he ordered some lab work to be precautionary. We of course were his last patient of the day yesterday, so while we've gotten all the lab results back, we haven't heard from him yet on any kind of diagnosis. @cnosil I think this discussion came up before with being able to get lab results back so quickly as a blessing and a curse. Having a very basic understanding of some of this is also a blessing and a curse. All of his blood cell counts look normal, which should be a good sign. He did have some elevated outcomes and some low outcomes, so those are what are weighing on our minds currently. I am anxiously awaiting hearing something back from his pediatrician, and it is going to be a long day until we do. Hopefully it'll be this morning at a reasonable time. Sorry to rant on about all that, I just really appreciate the community support of this forum. Going to be a fantastic community call today, but I am going to be leaving work early this afternoon to stay in line with my weekly hours and hopefully plan on getting the boys out onto the golf course, so will have to miss out. Hope everyone has a great day today.
  18. Best armchair Coach/QB this side of the Mississippi!
  19. So while I fully realize it is no longer even close to the morning, I'm still posting here today! Been a busy start to the day and about two hours ago my day got a WHOLE LOT BETTER! As I posted yesterday, I won a giveaway during Masters week for some amazing headcovers from CMC. I won those by making the correct selection of Scottie at -11, and then a random draw from those who had the same. I also won a giveaway from a small Lefties golf page for a hat and a glove, and just found out today that I won a COBRA Darkspeed Season Opener Edition Driver! I was one of three individuals to again pick Scottie at -11. Three golf balls were put into a bag with our names written on them and mine was pulled. To say I am ecstatic is an understatement! It's going to be such a good looking club that I think I'll have a hard time playing it, but that line of drivers has been so dang good that I'm going to have no choice but to give it a whirl. What a day!
  20. It truly is incredible, and goes to show why the greatest to play their respective positions in sport are so dominant for so long. It's just like Aaron Rodgers working on his footwork with Tom Clements in Green Bay to get it down to near perfection. It would be so cool to watch some of these guys train in person just to witness the intensity and attention to detail. One of my former high school athletes, Sam Hauser, when I was working as a sports performance coach in Stevens Point is now a regular rotation player for the Boston Celtics. I'm not saying this to compare him to some of the greatest to ever do it, but every single movement and repetition he performed was with 100% focus and intent. There was no detail too small and there was nothing we overlooked when working together. It was special getting to work with someone that focused at the high school level.
  21. I am quite intrigued by the draft this year for the Packers for sure. Last year EVERYTHING was focused around "the Packers are gonna suck" "get ready for the dark ages" "Jordan Love won't be good" etc. We also really didn't seem to have many offensive weapons and then last year happened. I feel great about the WR and TE positions, great about the interior defensive line. If Cooper De Jean is there at 25, I would love to see them draft him as depth in the secondary is always an issue for GB. He's a natural corner, but I think there's been some talk he could potentially slide to the safety position to pair with Xavier McKinney. I was disappointed they let Darnell Savage walk, so that spot is a priority in my book. They could also use an ILB or edge rusher for some added depth with the new defensive scheme, and need some depth on the offensive line. Traditionally they have done well drafting OL positions in the mid rounds and finding solid prospects, but if there's a great Tackle left at 25 that's also a good pick. Should be a fun draft to follow!
  22. The sports science world anymore is absolutely incredible with how technology has been incorporated into training both for specific sport movement patterns as well as weight room efficiency. I love all this stuff, primarily because it is in my field of scope with work. Just amazing what some of these professionals can do with athletes already at an extremely high level and find ways to make them even more efficient.
  23. Hey Steve, great question! I've got the 10.5* Max version of the Aerojet, great club. I have mine turned down to -1 D so it plays at 9.5. D setting should offset the opening of the face when lowering the loft. For me, it maybe adds a little draw bias, but not much. If you go for the full -1.5 it could make it slightly more fade biased, but if you've got a good club path and face angle I would guess it'll be negligible.
  24. +1 on the different padding and reasoning as to another factor in my choosing of the Oreo (besides the fact that it is the best color option ). I sweat like a pig doing literally any level of physical activity, so the perforated mesh material seemed as though it may be more comfortable for me personally when I do walk and carry.
