  1. Great crew of testers here and looking forward to hearing what you think about the Anyday bag! I have loved mine so far and think this will be a fun test to follow!
  2. Congrats to an absolutely FANTASTIC group of testers! Can't wait to follow along with you guys and see how the DF3 works with your game!
  3. I love Max Homa’s swing, who is far and away my favorite player on tour right now. I also really like Jake Knapp’s effortless ability to generate the speed he does. It is so fluid
  4. This thread has been rolling and in good hands! Sorry my posting here has been MIA for awhile, lot's of irons in the flame! Just had another fitness article posted on the main site and thought I'd throw a link in here to it. https://mygolfspy.com/news-opinion/golf-performance-training-strongerfasterlonger/
  5. Good morning fellow spies and happy post Masters Monday. What a performance Scottie put on yesterday to run away with the championship. Truly in the midst of witnessing greatness in the game of golf. He has been on an absolute tear and if it continues I could realistically see him challenging for a handful more victories this year. Absolutely incredible. Had another article post to the main site today with some different strength exercises to add to your routine to boost your performance on the golf course! Would appreciate if you gave it a read and comment! https://mygolfspy.com/news-opinion/golf-performance-training-strongerfasterlonger/ Have a great day!
  6. If we are going “stock” burgers, give me medium well with bacon and cheddar cheese with ketchup on a pretzel bun. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, when I’m going for something a little *extra* I’m going medium well burger, pulled pork, cheddar, BBQ, onion rings OR tanglers, extra side of BBQ on a pretzel bun. ………anyone else hungry?
  7. Will Scottie hold his lead to win his second green jacket in three years? Will Max Homa notch his first Major championship and cement himself as one of the best players in the world (no extra reason needed IMO)? With Morikawa looking like an older version of himself with his irons, can he overtake Scheffler? Can Bryson regain his first round form and make a run? All should make for must see TV in today’s final round!
  8. Good morning fellow spies and happy Masters Sunday!
  9. Good afternoon all after missing the morning timing! At my in-laws cabin and did some fishing this morning with my FIL and oldest son. Not a great bite yet but still caught some nice fish. Gonna go back out again later today!
  10. Man alive I wish I played as much as some of you guys lol I’ve got one 9 hole round in this year, but the course just opened Monday. If I can average 18 holes a week that’s typically pretty good with the kids schedule plus my work schedule.
  11. Good morning all and happy Friday! Some excellent golf played yesterday in round one and looking forward to round two of the Masters today! Need some members of my pool crew to pick up the slack a bit so I can get into the mix . I am a criminal offender of changing my lineup repeatedly for pools like this, and it once again did more harm than good. Maybe this time I will learn my lesson lol. Heading to the in-laws cabin after work today to do some fishing, and hoping to squeeze a round of golf in when we get back Sunday, but yard work and general cleaning of the house beckons.
  12. My oldest, who is soon to be 7, loves to come out on the course and go to the range. I don't know the first thing about teaching a golf swing, so when we are out it is purely about having fun. I would say my best advice is that as soon as a range session or round stops being fun/they lose interest/are getting frustrated, allow them to stop playing and just ride along or pack it in and call it a day. I know that isn't so much an option if you're not a member at a course and pay for each individual tee time, but as a member at our course I will do that every time we are out. If we make it through 4 holes and he's not hitting the ball well and getting frustrated or just isn't into it, he can tell me when he's ready to be done and we call it right there. I don't ever want it to be that he feels forced to be out there or is miserable doing so. Other times last year, he made it a full 18 holes a couple times just enjoying being out and taking breaks when he wanted. My youngest who is 4 likes to come along as well, but as you'd expect his attention span for it is very small. He will whack a ball and then wander around looking at stuff on the hole. I'll have to pick him up at times and carry him to the green where he pummels putts and eventually lets me move his ball close to the hole so he can tap it in. I think that if they are young and having fun, that is ultimately what will grow their enjoyment of the game and keep them wanting to come back for more. There will be a time and a place to take it seriously, but at the young ages, we high five good shots and high five and laugh about not so good ones.
  13. I may be a bit of an outlier here, but I carry a 3W, 3H and 7W. I have always preferred the head shape of a fairway wood to a hybrid, which is why I opted to go 7W instead of 4h. The 3H and 7W gap well for me, and the 7W produces a really nice, controllable high flight for shots into greens. I do prefer the hybrid out of the rough, and will use any given three off the tee or fairway depending on the hole layout.
  14. Good morning all and happy Masters Day! Can't wait to follow along with the first round, really looking forward to seeing everyone back in the same field for this event. Community call on deck this afternoon plus another huge testing opportunity with the Ai Smoke drivers! Having hit the TD version earlier this year, they are definitely doing things right. Got some extra practice in yesterday over lunch with my youngest on the range, then my oldest wanted to go in the evening as there was a little salt in the wound that we went without him earlier in the day . Worked on mostly 1/2 and 3/4 iron swings as I am working through the yips, and was doing some swings with a complete and total pause at the top of my backswing. This actually allowed me to make some really good contact, which was nice as that has been escaping me. Not switching to the full pause swing (however it crossed my mind briefly ), but will keep doing that as I work back to good contact. We then played two holes and my son hit 1/2 GIR and chipped to within 3' on the one he missed the green. He continues to impress me with his ball striking as both drives were 80+ yards which I think is pretty good for a 6 year old with no formal lessons and a dad that does not know how to teach the golf swing lol. We got to talking about the yearly Drive, Chip & Putt contest and how the finalists get to go to Augusta to compete. He told me someday he wants to make it so that he can "meet Scottie." It was fun to see him so excited, and it will be a very fun season this year!
  15. Went to the range over lunch to try to work through the case of the shanks I have developed. About a month and a half ago, my ball striking with irons was feeling very good. Right now I cannot not hit the ball out of the deep heel/hosel. After spending about an hour on the range, I could count on one hand the number of decent shots, not necessarily even good ones, that I hit. I didn’t hit a ton of balls as I was being intentionally deliberate and doing some dry swings as well from different positions of the backswing. Had my alignment sticks and went as far as lining my club outside the stick and trying to hit the ground inside the stick on the way down. Was able to do that no problem, but then put a ball in front of me and it’s right back to the heel. Worked on feeling a good hip turn and put the alignment stick in my belt loops to give me a bit of a visual aid and hit a couple shots that way that right off the bat were two of the decent ones, then couldn’t repeat it. Next step I’m hoping to take is scheduling a lesson with our head pro to see if he can see what I am doing and get back to better strikes. Not the way I wanted to start my 2024 season, but will work through it.
  16. Good morning all from a beautiful spring day in Wisconsin. Took the boys out on the course yesterday after school for a little goof around fun. Oldest was striking the ball exceptionally well, probably the best I’ve ever seen him hit them. Had a drive that had to be about 85-90 yards on our last played hole (he’s 7 at the end of the month). It’s fun watching him become more and more coordinated with swinging a club and gaining some speed swinging freely instead of having to really actively try to do it. He was frustrated with putting because he kept blowing them past the hole, so I told him we’d just do some practice at home on the putting matt and that he would get better as the season rolls along. Youngest was just out for some fun, would whack a ball and then just explore lol. Going to head to the range here shortly to work on my swing and hopefully iron out these yips I’ve developed. One more sleep till The Masters!!!
  17. Without a doubt hole #14 at my home course. Tight, slight dogleg left with a narrow landing area about 200 yards give or take from the tee box. Wooded OB left of the fairway, and if you go long of the fairway right it is long native grass. Miss right but short of the grass, and you typically have to punch out due to trees and hole layout. Pin is usually tucked back right on the green behind a bunker with woods nearly on top of the green. I've played it well a handful of times, but typically if I can get out of there with no worse than a double, I consider it a success.
  18. Good morning spies and happy Tuesday! One day closer to round one of the Masters and I am continuing to agonize over my picks for the pool set up by @Golfspy_CG2. I change my lineup much too often, which is why I typically am a terrible DFS bettor . Played my first 9 hole round of 2024 yesterday and carded a 49, which included nearly all full iron swings resulting in hosel rockets. So all in all, I'll take it lol. Off the tee was not penalizing and hit some solid drives to boot, plus had a couple great shots out of the fairway and rough with my COBRA King Tec hybrid. Man alive do I like that club. 60* wedge was also fantastic around the green, resulting in a couple tap in pars after missing GIRs. One I am particularly proud of was on the par 3 12th, where I badly thinned my gap wedge off the tee but thankfully didn't go full hosel smash and it stopped in the short grass in front of the green. Had about 50ish yards to the flag and pin was tucked to the back of the green behind a large crest in the middle. Hit it very, very well and was left with 5' to clean it up for par. Once I get rid of these full iron yips, I think low 40s for 9 are well within sight which has me very excited. No three puts and a total of 16 putts which I was also relatively pleased with. Taking the boys out on the course at 4pm today after I pick them up from school and will just be playing along with them from the First Tee program tees that are on our course for junior golfers. This will give me some good opportunities to work in some full wedge swings, I'll be able to roll a few putts, and the focus will be on the boys having fun - which is what those rounds are all about. Hope everyone has a great day!
  19. The bag is a showstopper for sure! It was truly so bad that I couldn't even really get frustrated lol. Like on 16 (par 5), I hit a decent drive into a strong headwind so didn't get a ton of distance, hit a nice hybrid into the same wind so was sitting about 100 from the pin. That's usually a smooth 52* for me and that thing went further left than it did down range but then on a partial 60* I had no problems, flush contact onto the green. Just wild right now lol. Normally I don't have heel side misses with any clubs let alone irons, so I'm just getting into a weird position one way or another. Could be path, could be getting a bit stuck, takeaway might be getting too inside. I'm sure it'll work out. And if not, our head pro is a really good instructor and is also a lefty so that's a big plus as he can show me things from the left handed side and visual learning helps me a ton.
  20. So for my 2023 season, the biggest difference for me was being able to practice and play consistently compared to years past. I was on the range 1-2x a week all summer and played typically 9-27 holes each week. Eliminating penalties off the tee by keeping the ball in play and reducing my number of 3 putts are probably what contributed most to my improvement last year.
  21. Played my first official 9 of 2024 today and shot a 49. All in all, I can't say that I am surprised or upset with the score. I took about a month off from swinging a club which in hindsight was probably a mistake as I was in a pretty good place with iron striking. A couple practice sessions over the weekend and then today on the range and course, I hit a good 99% of full iron swings off the hosel. And some not even on the face, lol. I was pretty good off the tee with a long drive of 275. Didn't hit a ton of fairways but also didn't put myself into too much trouble and only had one drive OB that was smashed but faded too much, so one penalty stroke over the 9 holes. Also had zero three putts, but back to back triples on 13 and 14, followed by a par on the par 3 15th and three straight doubles to end the round. Around the greens with partial wedges I was better than normal, hitting some really good 60* wedges close to the pin for two tap in pars and another that gave me a shot at par but left just short. I am going to get a few range sessions in and try to get back to some fundamental swing thoughts with irons to see if I can get that worked out and go from there. It's frustrating because I was in a good place with my swing and iron striking, but I can get back to it and once I do, that 49 easily becomes a low 40s round. If I can't work through it on my own I'll schedule a lesson with our pro who always has a way of helping me get things worked out. Did also end up carting it today as they had them open for use and I was trying to play relatively quickly to get back to work, so no walk this time around but soon will plan to walk with the Ghost. The 14 wall full individual dividers made pulling clubs a dream.
  22. Goooooood morning fellow spies and happy Monday! Not only is it Masters Week, but it is also opening day at my home course! I have a late workday today, so booked a 10:30am tee time to get 9 in before lunch. Sun is shining and it's gonna be mid 60s, so even if I play like hot garbage it is still gonna be a great day! The Ghost Golf Anyday bag will be making it's maiden voyage, and I'll be walking as we've had some rain so no carts unless they have changed their minds. Honestly looking forward to the walk to see how the bag carries. The shoulder straps are seem like they will be very comfortable. Hope everyone has a fantastic day!
  23. Highlight of my 2023 season without a doubt! Bag is still 12/14 Cobra, too!
