  1. Good morning MGSpies from the dark depths of (not quite due to abnormally warm weather) winter in WNY on what will be my last day of work for 2023. I'm telling everyone at work I am not going to work again after today until next year, can't talk me out of it . Computers online and getting ready for the busiest and most intense workday of every 2-week cycle, great way to finish the second last Pay Period of the 2023 Federal Calendar that this year has a 27th Pay Period thanks to December 31st falling on Sunday and no it is not precedence, been done differently before... Great Community Call yesterday and enjoyed seeing so many MGSpies there, so sad we won't be doing another one now until 2024 Hope golf is a part of your day!
  2. Awesome call again as always, great time with great friends. Now we have to wait until next year for the next one...
  3. Good morning MGSpies on a cool damp WNY last Thursday of 2023 Community Call day having a zero commute workday from the basement command and control center of my teleworking outpost, hot coffee on hand with things to be thankful for - brother's health continues to improve, family his healthy and optimistic, and interview today for same office advancement doing almost exactly what I am doing now - good way to close out an exceptional year in my life that dates back to the Protozoic if you ask my children hope to see many on the last Community Call of 2023 and hope golf is a part of your day!
  4. I have a PowerPoint slide set that I put together and update when things change. It was created on the work computer to help keep me actively aware so when an employee or supervisor sent something that needed my attention I was ready to jump on task with minimal delay. Active minds need such diversion or the brain tends to go on vacation far away... I never had all the clubs on a single spreadsheet like this and just found the OEM online info, snipped and pasted in something that would be ideal for presentation to the ultimate supervisor and I know @Shapotomous and @Dead Solid Bogey know exactly to whom that refers, who shall not be named as that alone evokes a powerful magic. Wait who just typed all that, I have no idea how that sentence got there
  5. Good morning MGSpies from the subterranean mission control center on this dark, wet, not really cold cold WNY Wednesday with zero commute and hot coffee making it just about perfect toiling to help the balance sheet as the family slumbers on overhead for their well earned winter break before schools start up again in the new year. Daughter's gift for dad arrived yesterday, will be wearing this patch proudly! and she is my favorite daughter Hope golf is a part of your day!
  6. I agreed with you Chris but apparently I'm not thinking it through with any kind of depth that you are and I always learn something from your point of view. I like to watch them play and yes the rollback question was the root for the original survey. No matter what they do with the concept, it is the athlete's performance that is being measured not the equipment. They just need to make a decision, and isn't it great how much dialog they are evoking by not making a decision!
  7. This is also my reason for caring, the Tour Pros are real people as I got to know being inside the ropes as a Standard Bearer at the PGA Championship and they work hard to get to where they are and stay there, and that is something I can respect and appreciate. I saw phenomenal shots and some that were like what sometimes happens to my golf ball so they are very real and experiencing a popularity unparalleled to most people's lifetime. Amongst the "real" things that happened was being blocked on the combined 10th/14th tee box by someone bending down to get something from his golf bag held by his caddie, which at first not being able to follow my scorer was somewhat concerning, but when he stood up and it was Brooks Koepka well, he could block me anytime and that was perfectly fine, he had a much bigger job at hand than I did. Before my playing group of Shaun Micheel, Braden Shattuck and Steven Alker had their tee shots on 14, Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas and Collin Morikawa with caddies came around to the 10th tee and the crowd was nuts but on my side of the rope it was easy to see they were just men like us in their zone taking care of the job that was going to pay the bills and make it a good day for the homefront, just like the rest of us. This was the second day carrying for a different playing group. Same thing, different group of men. It is my serenity to be in the atmosphere and surroundings of a golf course and having it on television with the coverage that is presented to us, it really is the next best thing to being there.
  8. Good morning MGSpies from a dark unseasonably warm downtown parking spot outside of the office building in WNY with Tycho's Coastal Brake on Pandora and coffee in the mug enjoying the peaceful moment before the day begins. First day back after the week off so catching up to be done. Christmas remains in the heart, keep it going for as long as possible my friends and hope golf is a part of your day
  9. Happy Christmas evening, the festivities of the day are completed and too much good food remains to be digested. The afterglow lingers in the colorful lights and quieter sounds of the house. Christmas 2023 is all but a memory now, good night MGSpies and to all prosperity and peace.
  10. Good morning MGSpies on a peaceful Spirit filled Christmas morning in WNY with a quiet house thanks for the "maturity" of older children for this Monday yesterday full of fog for a good bit of the day as Rob @rkj427 had reported from his locale but traffic was light on the highways in my neck of the woods and it is much too warm for snow, and I have it on good authority that Santa had wheels on his sleigh this year. Great family gathering for football on TV and Christmas Eve dinner at the in-laws before many had to go to serve on the musical group at their church for the 10pm formalities. Today is round 2 for the family gathering at brother-in-law's to ensure everyone is jolly and stuffed. Hope everyone has someone to spend the day with talking golf or not, just be with people if you can find/tolerate them. My friend @Dead Solid Bogey your way of spinning yarns and regaling us with insights of how married bliss can be embraced with spirited words is more appreciated than you know, my spirits are always lifted higher with your unique (to my experience) phrasing and storytelling that has me glad you are contributing as a regular member here on this thread in particular! Welcome to the MGS Forum @nyrachel and to the Good Morning Thread in particular with your first ever post! You picked what I believe is one of the best daily threads that started only 10 months ago but as you can see it is already into more pages of reading than days in a year. I hope you find as I do many valued friends who contribute to the forum and we value everyone so Welcome In! And Joyeux Noel and whatever else you might celebrate at this festive time of the year!
  11. Good morning MGSpies from a foggy too warm for a white Christmas Eve WNY Sunday, on the way to son's apartment in Rochester for things forgotten for the between semesters break at home. Plants will appreciate the extra watering. Dinner at the inlaws this afternoon and then time for Santa to make his rounds hope golf is a part of your day
  12. Date 12/22/2023 Course Name Stryker Golf Course Gross Score 104 Course Handicap 17 Gross Strokes over/under par 32 Net Score to Par 15 Net Score 87 Net Birdies or better 0 Longest Drive 168 SIM Round? Cold day with frost delay that lifted by 9:30am, had a 10:30 tee time but was out on the course at 10:00. Played with my brother and had a spectacular day that had nothing to do with the final score or anything silly like having a par. Golf in December on the Solstice, that alone is awesome
  13. Good morning MGSpies and up early on travel day from Cary NC to home in WNY brother's suggestion for golf yesterday was the beginning of an excellent day with few others on course and really good December Solstice weather hope golf is a part of your day
  14. Good morning MGSpies from my last full day in Cary NC where frost is on the car windows and brother is now thought of as MyGolfSibling when he said, "we can find somewhere to golf today but not too early." I cannot think of a better activity to add into his therapy plan and I hope golf is a part of your day too! Edit 10:30 tee time at Stryker Golf Course, Fort Liberty for 2, if anyone can make it just come on out - Frost Delay so time will be flexible thinking Tom @Tom the Golf Nut or anyone near Fayetteville
  15. Good meeting today with insight and some fun, glad to see everyone and those green Mizuno clubs really were nice, just hope the finish is robust on them to play them more than just hang them up - like seeing a Formula 1 race car on display, pretty but not functional means it is not optimizing its form. See you next time!
  16. There are not enough words to express my appreciation, and I am quite sure if I did write what would be adequate, nobody would want to read that much LOL Thanks for stepping up and doing what you do. I am a good proof reader if there is any need for such assistance referring to @GolfSpy_BNG @Getoffmylawn @Lacassem @Jnoble89 @GolfSpy SAM @GolfSpy BOS and anyone else who wants a second set of eyes (third if I wear my glasses) for something to post before it hits the readable digital forum.
  17. Good morning MGSpies on this Community Call Thursday from frosty Cary NC the days are like work in a different location putting in time for online purposes facilitating others needs, just different tasks and websites but early and long hours with rest to re-engage the following morning. Golf has not been in the plan yet but it has been talked about! And there is lunch with one of brother's work associates today so variety is a part of the day. Hope golf is a part of your day!
  18. Good morning MGSpies from a frosty Cary NC Wednesday where it seems I brought the weather with me as forecast next week here would be what I would want to enjoy this time of year instead of heading for maybe above freezing for highs back home. All is right with the world and a few things to go out for, errands and such. Hope golf is a part of your day
  19. Good morning MGSpies on a chilly start but not the freezing temps predicted 12 hours ago in Cary NC morning, up early as always taking advantage of empty streets and a minimum of odd driving practices by those already out early with me. Brother is doing well and one appointment at midday so adventure continues and this is so much better than being in the office for a Tuesday Hope golf is a part of your day!
  20. Good morning MGSpies from a clear and mild (for an acclimatized WNYer) Cary NC morning after a successful overnight journey down the highways and biways of NY, PA, MD, WV, VA and NC mostly in rain that makes me praise the inventor of RainX for the windshield, as the faster you go and the heavier the rain, the easier it is to see through the glass without using the wipers, and most of the drive wipers were not used hoping to get in at least 18 holes while I'm here for the week. Hope golf is a part of your day
  21. Golf in December in Western New York - it is a thing with having the Western NY PGA Headquarters at Glen Oak Golf Course in Amherst, NY. 70 paying customers on 18 holes walking only with fast greens and pins in looking like any regular season day. Missing was all the regular features at the tee boxes. Air temp was 48 at tee time that held through the just less than 2 hours of play. Not sure how people are going to know which pond they hit into with them all named Danger Pond. That's my ball by the flagstick on the 18th (played the back 9) but perspective is everything and that was a 10 foot putt. Shot 50 for the day which was not bad with first 3 holes wearing a heavy jacket before feeling too warm and having lighter arms for the last 6. Some rocket shots kept confidence up that the month off, since November 11th, was not a significant issue with my golf game.
  22. Good morning MGSpies on it's an amazing occasion when I post before Jason @sirchunksalot so I'm rocking it Sunday morning in WNY! Aaaand now I'm not, good morning Jason! Yesterday Wreaths Across America was an awesome experience with so many volunteers in our newly established WNY National Cemetery that we only got to present 4 wreaths each to the grave markers in celebration of the life spent before passing on. The photo is not the section we worked in. One of my playing partners was there and suggested we get in a 9-hole round after we were done, he was not at all surprised I had my clubs in the vehicle and we went to Glen Oak GC home of the WNY PGA Headquarters where the pins are still in and they had 70 golfers play the course yesterday all walking and the course is in great shape with amazingly fast greens for WNY in December. 48 at our 2pm tee time and ready golf had us done and on the way home before 4pm. Today is curling at noon and then onward to the rainy south for the week and glad to take my MGSpy friends with me in this thread and others as hopes are for more golf in the Piedmont. Hope golf is a part of your day!
  23. Good Saturday morning MGSpies from the warmest super El Nino induced end of autumn in these parts in recent memory all is quiet in the house with coffee in the mug with lots doing in the next 24 hours: Wreaths Across America at the WNY National Cemetery at noon today honoring the fallen and their families putting wreaths on the grave markers with Veteran co-workers and PGA HOPE graduates and volunteers, daugher's birthday dinner this evening, and getting ready for a return to NC on family business connected to the last trip a week ago. Tomorrow is Veteran Curling and then heading to NC for the week. Clubs are going with me and my very next task is putting those in the vehicle while it is dry outside. Hope golf is a part of your day
  24. Good morning MGSpies from a dry not too cold for 6 days before the Winter Solstice in WNY Friday with work computer connecting to network in the remote finance outpost of Fort Homestation with a zero commute morning coffee yet to be decanted from the drip machine and plans again reforming for a return end of the weekend to NC for a second week of family assistance to my brother. Which means, oh yes, the clubs have one more chance to risk a hole in one, or at least a few birdies before we close out 2023 and make possible one more round to post in the MGS Forum Virtual Championship for this year! but still much to be done before that adventure begins again. Had a great time on the Community Call yesterday and hey, hope golf is a part of your day!
