  1. Mine was more of a statement of what was being planned for this year. So my approval was more of a "that's nice dear" although no actual words were spoken, there might have been an eye roll or similar but to be sure I said it all twice on two different occasions when she was actually listening. Applying the "I told you so you know about it" principle that applies to me, as I am told so often, I take that as solid backing.
  2. For all of us with a MyGolfSpouse who doesn't share the obsession, it would be awesome to know what tactics were used to secure these approvals from the one who must be okay with it of course it would all be hypothetical because none of the comments would be verifiable or anything that would be used as evidence in a court of law.
  3. You missed the word YELLOW in your comment, yellow balls are the best ones for hitting near water!
  4. Good morning MGSpies from a changing weather from windy not so cold to heavy rain then snow today WNY. The beginning of the story after work yesterday is up the string thataway with this waiting for me when I arrived home. so lines all pulled off and coiled, tarp seams cut to release what was left and everything bagged for eventual disposal, the sailboat is temporarily without it's hat. hope there isn't too much snow load with today's forecast when it gets here, and it will, but it will not shed itself off a peaked tarp this time. Working a zero commute day, will be able to keep an eye on it working from the basement, and see if a heavy 24'x16' tarp can be located. I know some of you have it much worse so sending best thoughts for everyone dealing with weather related and other concerns. Would rather be playing golf, hope golf is a part of your day
  5. Not going to say good morning yet because it's just after 1am so a tale of what's preceded my post in the morning. WNY weather wasn't too bad yesterday with a wintery mix well above freezing and on my drive home from work downtown was mostly rain and windy. Gusting winds had shredded the tarp on the sailboat in my backyard. Spent the remaining daylight hours clearing lines and stripping the useless remains and bagging the refuse that became stuffing to bolster another tarp covering the patio furniture by acting like beanbags underneath to stop it flapping near the corners. Caught a break as the entire tarp removal was between rains that had been continuous all day and resumed just after the power went out at 8:10pm. With dinner ended an hour earlier the best thing I did do was have an early to bed evening. Power restored about an hour ago, more later after another visit with my pillow.
  6. Good morning MGSpies from a dark cold downtown Buffalo parking spot next to the office building with coffee in the mug and Cloudchord's Sleep Walk on Pandora for the calm before the workday and the imminent strong wind with gusts expected in the 50mph range and half inch of rain or more on this Tuesday in WNY. The family rock and roll band knocked it out of the house last night for Open Mic. Hope golf is a part of your day 142
  7. I missed a hole in one by a day or so a couple of summers ago judging from the cup circle my ball was sitting in on a green, my playing partner laughed off as "so close but... " I guess laughter was the best way to finish that one. .
  8. Good morning MGSpies from an almost frozen beginning of the first full work week in WNY with warmer weather forecasted before tomorrow's high wind watch and downward slide into winter if it is predicted well. Working from the no commute subterranean bunker cleverly disguised as my basement with work computer already connected to network - appointment after work then open mic in South Buffalo with the family rock and roll band, last play until April or May when snowbirds again return to the Sunshine State. Hope golf is a part of your day mmmm coffee 143
  9. It was a good day at the Buffalo Curling Club with the VA Western NY Recreational Therapy activity that has been going there now into it's second year. I started with them in October and at first didn't think I would keep going to it - hypersensitivity to sound and muscle cramps in feet, calves, and thighs when I get cold were things I was protecting myself from by not going to it last year. But hearing about it from my Veteran golf friends I decided to play this year. Ballistic ear plugs and compression sleeves on my calves, able to wear insulated Timberland boots and I am already doing quite well.
  10. Good morning MGSpies from snowy frostbite cold WNY on this early Sunday finishing out the end of the first full M-Su week of 2024. Up early to help daughter clear her car off to get to work, love being asked the night before arriving home from dinner in a gentle snowfall Son heading back to his Rochester apartment to get set for his last undergraduate semester next week. Curling at noon with the Veterans Been great having the whole family home knowing life will likely be changing with son graduating to the working world perhaps this summer. Best wishes for everyone's health, healing, and happiness for both people and fur babies. Hope golf is a part of your day
  11. Good morning MGSpies on a frozen Saturday in WNY with a quiet start before the day starts rocking. Or maybe it's starting sooner, no milk in the house so starting with a run to the grocery store, family rock and roll band rehearsal late morning for the open mic on Monday, then a month-late birthday dinner for daughter at Hofbrauhaus downtown. Hope golf is a part of your day 145
  12. I'm looking at my routes and thinking with extra drive time planned in, I might skip the interstates this time and use just highways. It adds time, sure, but it also is a way to see parts of the country I would otherwise not see and being out of the way, traffic is always light and enjoyable in my decades of doing just that. How far is my drive? Rob and just about everyone from the 1st meetup knows. Google shows 550 mi / 9 hours but that includes I-95 and the Washington Beltway ick. My preference is the 500 mi route through Fredericksburg and Winchester that will take some highways through PA and WV I have never seen before! Will also revisit VA highways not seen since parents' travel trailer days to Cape Hatteras at about 11 hours. And no, I don't push traffic, speed or time. Looking forward to the adventure!!! BEEP BEEP
  13. I was so gonna say something about the Lazy River! That kind of pool moves me.
  14. Awesome, been waiting for this announcement since the last day of the Pinehurst meetup in 2023, which was somehow better than the Queenstown Harbor meetup in 2022. Would not miss it looking forward to seeing MGSpy friends already met and those yet to be met!

  20. Good morning MGSpies from a dark cold downtown parking spot by the office building on this first workday Tuesday of 2024 sitting in the vehicle warming up with coffee in the mug and Tycho's Dye on Pandora setting the mood to chill before heading into the office. Can't say enough for Jamie @GolfSpy_APH for his leadership and steady guiding hand on the Forum. Thankful for everyone here. 21. Oh oh oh oh I know! A little used course that's kinda hard to get to.
  22. The thread today reminds me of a historical moment captured by the BBC for our information and awareness. And no suggestion is implied that anyone in the forum is represented by the Frenchmen So I guess we will just wait until the information is ready for us to start planning.
