  1. i recently picked up a sm9 54 and 60, and compared to my ping glide 3.0 wedges they had noticeably less spin. Was it a lot? Not a huge difference around the green, but very noticeable on full shots. I might need more time with them, but the ping glides would rip back while the SM9 seemed like a potato sac landing on the green like a dud. The SM9 had S400 while the pings had x100.
  2. I absolutely despise hitting off mats and will avoid them to the point that I will just chip and pitch around the short game area if there is one and then take a bunch of practice swings in the grass.
  3. Great reviews! I’ve been playing the Ultimate for a few seasons now and absolutely in love, so not surprised with the great reviews.
  4. I’m headed to Florida next week and bringing them with me. As for next year, I’m not sure but I am a gear junkie so no club is safe!

  7. I’d go with the stronger loft hybrid and add a 3 iron in your case. I’ve been thinking of taking out my 3w and adding a 2 iron as I rarely get to play courses where a 3w is used off the deck.
  8. Playing in a club championship and one of the guys in my group starts playing music. Totally shocked I would have to ask someone to not play music in a tournament setting. I told him I don’t play with music and he turned it off. If I wanted to play with music it’s going to be what I like. If music is that important to you, pop in some earbuds. My favorite is when I’m on the tee box and the group behind rolls up to the green, doesn’t matter if it’s quiet or loud, outside on a golf course the sound travels rather far.
  9. A 49 could match up great to a 54/59 or abouts wedge setup.
  10. Yes I will agree the 4-pw plays more like a 3-9 iron coming from a set of traditional blades. A set gap wedge would be ideal. I will say they go straight, rather forgiving on toe mishits, and pure as can be on center strikes. Such a fun set of irons that don’t bring the demand of ball striking required by a solid forged head. I didn’t warm up today and the first hole was ok, the strikes were not in the center but I made a par after hitting the green with a thin shot. My next iron shot, with a 6 iron was so solid. The sound and feel through impact was a great feeling with feedback that I knew right away I hit it dead center. MT86 could definitely be a winner for a hollow body players iron, still undecided if they will win over a current blade player like myself?!
  11. I prefer walking, I’ll even pay to put my bag on the cart if I’m playing with a rider, but still walk. Helps keep me loose, enjoy the scenery, and I play better most of the time. I have been riding lately due to foot injuries/pain.
  12. Like mentioned by DoP, these are players irons but more so a G.I. players iron. The stronger loft and hollow head are producing longer carry distances for me. I’d say they are similar to a p770. They feel more forgiving than a t100, definitely produce a higher flight but that could also be difference in shafts to me. More testing to come.
  13. I’d love to try one out but not sure where you can find a 39” long jailbird versa counterbalanced intended to be gripped halfway down, with a 380 gram head weight to demo.
  14. The putter was built to his request to be the same as ricks why change it if he is winning?
  15. Exactly my point, they are just like us, so why is it funny that golfers want to try a putter out that has won the last 3 professional men’s events. Just because we are not as good as them, the unique design of the counterbalanced putter and also gripping down on the grip due to longer length is not like switching from odyssey 2 ball, to a Cameron x11.
  16. Just curious, is it ridiculous that Wyndham Clark asked odyssey to make an exact replica of Ricky’s jailbird??? I mean he’s a pro and has access to the best fitters, so why not get fit? Why would he expect to putt better by just using someone’s else putter?
  17. Thanks for clarifying. I placed an order, actually two by accident, the one I had cancelled. But there is no info I can find on when it might ship, aside from the expected date I originally read when placing the order.
  18. That’s not what I was asking about, nowhere did I read about 80 putters being released, and that half of them are on eBay. I remember seeing an expected ship date in September, but I can’t seem to find that now. Just confused why it’s so hard to get factual info these days.
  19. I’m confused on the 80 putters? The preorder doesn’t ship till September.
  20. I was able to get out on my BLP/GC3 with a 6 iron to collect some data. I’ll have to collect some data with my miuras as well but these seem to be a few yards longer, with a few jumpers here and there that really jump off the face. Overall very impressed with the performance, removing 2 outlier mishits, my average carry was about 194, with 6000+ spin. I don’t see any problem holding greens with these. Slight concern with the few shots that carried 199, that could be concerning if they have a hot spot.
  21. Like some of the other testers have noted, on the hosel next to the ferrule the finish looks faded. It seems to be a thin layer of dried epoxy, on my 6 iron i was able to rub it off with my thumb. edit: to add I checked the lies and lofts of a few irons and they all seem to be on spec or a half degree strong. I did note the lengths are 1/4 longer than my miuras, the 6 iron is 37.75. Not sure if that’s the different grip but they also swingweight about a 1-2 points heavier as well.
