notigerwoods
I have been trying to get that Freddie Couples Tempo Has anyone tried either of these tempo apps - are they any good/worth the $25 https://tourtempo.com/ https://www.golfbpm.com/ Only I came across this on youtube for free which seems to do the same sort of thing and may even be better as it gives visual cues as well. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6MLbYJ9IoduIJSX4f4_zww Or is there something better out there? NM01
It’s not tempo but rather rythm. ones tempo is ones tempo and shouldn’t be changed. Fast walkers, talkers tend to have faster swings, although the majority of golf swings take less than 2 seconds. The swing itself is half over at lead arm parallel. The rhythm of the swing is what one should be working on. There are multiple articles on this and some good instructors have drills to improve it MacTourney and Kenny B
chisag
... Don't worry about semantics. I have a VHS of Freddie called On Tempo and just watching it over and over again always helped me. That said, Freddie has an unusual swing that is much more hands driven than most. David Lee of Gravity Golf uses Freddie as an example of his swing theory which over simplified is just allowing your arms to fall from the top of there backswing. I am fan of both because my swing is more like Freddie than todays modern swing. Just past :55 is my favorite part of the video below and I love to look at it when struggling with my driver. Watch him swing his wedge right next to his 3 wood and the swings are virtually identical for timing and tempo, just a little longer with the 3 wood. I would also add if you have ever watched Freddie in person, his swing is so much faster through impact than it looks like on video, still smooth but much more effort live so it can be a little deceiving. NM01
It’s not semantics. Rhythm and tempo are two different things. People just incorrectly use them as being the same https://www.golfdigest.com/story/jim-flick-rhythm
MacTourney
A good look at the difference between rhythm and tempo. Rhythm is timing or when things happen, and tempo is basically the speed of the timing. Here's Dolly singing 'Jolene' at a different tempo (speed) but the rhythm of the song remains the same, all music notes and words happen precisely where in time they should- just slower. Your tempo is yours alone, can it be changed, sure, but why, there is no need to. A good sequence will eventually find a delivery tempo, not the other way around.
