GolfSpy Tim
I think it's been even almost three weeks since my last full swing of a club.I went to the range today expecting a hack session - and the first 5 balls were all that and more. But - I focused on my mechanics and was quickly back into it and pretty happy with the results. Anyone else ever take time off and find it helped?LOVE that feeling of a shaft loading. yum.
Kenny B
Yes, but rarely do anymore. My trips to Russia were a minimum of 2 weeks. When I came home and hit the course, my swing was loose and I hit the ball further, for about 9 holes. Then I would be back to normal. Dang! But I couldn't chip or putt normally for another 9 holes! I just keep getting in my own way! “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
JBones
Time off makes no difference for me. If I could just play on physical ability I'd be pretty damn good, but unfortunately, my head gets in the way and tells me to swing hard then pound on my chest. revkev
Even though I can play year round work forces some time off. It's a mixed bag upon return for me with the full swing, sometimes better sometimes not. It never helps the short game so even if the swing is refreshed the scoring isn't. I've got a bit of a dilemma today that I could throw up here rather than rethreading. Played yesterday and for the first time in a long time regressed with my swing and fell into some terrible habits. Of course I would hit some squirrly shots before even in my recent run of very good shots but this was back to the chunk, blade, seemingly solid hit coming up short that drove me to take lessons. I scored okay, 76, but that was because I chipped and putted well. There were factors, brand new glasses that are transition lenses, it looked a little weird to me all day. It was buddies golf and I had been up until 2 the night before and got hammered. It was very cold, for Florida and windy to windier. I'm thinking that I will let it go a couple of days, hit the range after work Tuesday and if it's good then be fine. If not I'm taking a lesson Friday rather than playing. wbealsd
At my age, anything more than a few days without swinging is very noticeable to me.
