  1. I cannot hover with out grounding the putter first . I always ground the putter first then lift it some way before I putting Wedges I do a bit of both depending on the shot Irons/Driver and full swings , I take my grip with the club off the ground , I dont really consider that hovering . I may waggle, regrip or milk the club then hold it steady behind the ball but technically I do not ground the club before set the club , so this really isnt hovering
  2. Just further to this thought for extremely long /slow putts if I bend at the waist and tap my putter The butt end of the putter is pointing to my belly and just move on one piece I feel really confident with my distance control.
  3. Have not played for a week and practising with 10 fingered grip I have to “milk” the grip to make it feel comfortable. The timing is back as before I was snap/pull hooking
  4. I’m going into a Rabbit hole with my golf swing. When I’m on the course I just try to hit it straight and what ever curve I get I will play with and don’t really Imagine a curve in the air. Notice that more when I “aim at the ball” and less when I just aim at a spot just in front of the ball I find it more confident to aligned by body to the spot in front of the ball rather than ball itself i going with the old flight laws and initial flight of the ball dictated bu my swing path and where the ball ends up is more dictated by the clubface. I knwo it more complicated than that by I been going mad with pull hooks with with my clubface and swing path closing too much at the same direction For the short game , it just the opposite , I feel more confident by manipulating the clubface for direction and minimizating the path .
  5. missing a lot of greens in regulation as I was pulling or pushing my irons either right or left of the green Pulls were stronger impact , clubface closed . My pushes were weaker I decided to go with the "pull" swing and modified my set up Went towards a super strong left hand grip and preturn my hips and short my swing to 1/2 and was able to keep the ball :left" with a tighter dispersion I know this sound strange but my 'left " shots flighty straighter as I readjustment my posture so I feel like Im swinging diagonally left but I shoulders are align more along vertical plane than horizonal plan , so I feel like Im "pulling up" rather than pulling around
  6. Went out today at practise green which is two tier and had fantastic session went above the hole and below the hole with a GW and tried “H&H method” and finally works. What made it work was that I ground the wedge behind the ball then took my grip If I take my grip first then tried to hinge if was blade/thin city Also felt that I aim with the leading edge or top edge and ball was either back or middle depending if the tier was up or down Most of the practise green are flat and I use 5 iron on the toe for stress free chipping
  7. Got yippy with my putting stroke 3 putted 5 times. Yikes! Emergency switch to another putter did not cure it however holding the putter differently so only right hand on the handle on the putter seems to get me on track again
  8. My iron play sucks. Whatever I work on the driving range doesn’t translate to the course I m decent with my other clubs Today went outside the range to the turf and looked for side hill to practice rather than flat mats and something clicked. I also find ball above the feet to be more natural for my iron swing and develop some feedback for balance and less upright swing Made drastic changes to my grip and posture Super strong grip where I don’t feel the clubhead just the shaft seems work today
  9. Since my post I find that baseball/ ten finger inconsistency as I tend to either hook or slice much easier with that grip I am an interlocker but have been trying some form of the varnum grip as I find that it’s easier to draw the ball with that grip. I find that when I make my left hand grip stronger it’s just feels better when it’s overlap
  10. Played decent in the front nine par*6. Double *3 My iron off the tee was poor hook, push Double /double /double Also top a 5 wood My driver was excellent and my wedge play was good enough to save 4 up and downs Still having problems at the 75 - 100 yards Wedge but all other distances were dailed in today Putting was decent but left a lot out there
  11. 5 putted on a long two tier green and knew I need practice. Crown greens can give me too fits if they are really small Just need to make sure I get the ball up to the top tier cause it’s disheartening to see ball come back down like I was playing mini golf Its like I need to invent a new stroke to get the ball up to the top tier or if I am going from the top tier recoil if I am trying to gently move ball to lower tier if that where the pin is
  12. Timingly revisit to this old thread I been trying new grips this week. Im been an interlocker but having problems “turning the ball over” lately and when I practice the draw my left hand was hurting after a practice session so I find it easier to use full finger grip to turn the ball over. How my control was awful. Hitting pull hooks and straight pulls. Using the overlap seems to make this pull/hook go away and produce smoother painful free draws Still not completely sold on this grip but hopeful
  13. I’m interlocker. I tried to use the full finger grip for a round , seems like I get more power but my shots were all over the place and can’t seem to get comfortable I regrip to midsize/jumbo grips and thought that might make it easier for full finger grip Today at the range I tried the overlap and it seems like it worked well. My feeling is that I don’t want my index finger of my top hand and the little finger of my bottom hand having any pressure on the handle In the past my left forefinger was to tight around the grip but I find if I turn my left hand more stronger and flex my wrist more radially I the grip feels perfect I’ll see if this will work on the course
  14. Today I had “putting thought” I “locked “ my knees so my knees are extended throughout the stroke This seem to keep my stroke a lot smother and I made more long putts. The con was my back hurted as it seem I locked my lower body and my motion was all upper body Likely torque my back. I m not sure but I think my hips moved during my putting stroke and this “locking” keeps the lower body still
  15. Play at a course with large greens and after 9 holes and had 7 greens in regulation Next day played at a course with the smallest greens I ever played at and hit on 2 greens in regulation after 18 Was extremely tough to score with my lack of short game So much easier to score if I putt for birdie then to have to chip/flop/pitch/lob every green to get close just to try to make par
  16. Just happens for me. What helps me was video my swing get feedback from a pro If you look at yourself sometimes things you think you are doing you aren’t and the things you think doing you can see isn’t really what you are doing on video my problem was my left arm was “weak” position and I was forcing a full swing and looked obvious on video I had strengthened my hold on the club with my left arm This Made my release automatically and also mechanical sound and more powerful and less painful for my left hand
  17. Playing at a course that had so little sand in the bunker that playing partner could putt the ball into the green pretty much once I step into the bunker I could feel hard ground and my feet did not sink at all !
  18. Playing at a course with the smallest greens I every played at. Very frustrating landing by postage size greens and having to pitch/chip every time. Day before I had played at my regular course with generous wide green and so much easier to pitch and work the ball into the green and when I missed still ended up on the edge of the green
  19. Im eyes inside the ball dude especially for long putts. I used a long putter the past and you really can’t have eyes over the ball with belly putter. There’s an arc to my putting with short putter. When I get closer say inside 6 feet I’m more SBST and like have my eyes closer to the ball. I have no idea if my eyes are over the ball though
  20. Made an eagle on short par 5Number 17 Landed 25 feet from pin on my 2ndshot. Usually when my swing is good my putting is lousy. Was the case that day as I tried all sorts of ways to putt. As I was waiting for my partners to chip on. I decided to squat down to see the putt from level of the butt end of the putter. I don’t normally crotch down For whatever reason this gave me confident I start to think how the butt end of the putter moved This time I square up my left thumb and focus on keeping the butt end “still” and moving the putter head pass the butt end. Think Brand Snedekar Not normally my style of putting im more forward Press anyway rolls pure and my partners say it’s going in and indeed it do go in Now it was flat no break long putt not that hard of a putt but wonderful feeling to drain it. I’m continue with this style of putting. I made drastic change going from a lefty low hosel 8802 style putter with fat grip to righty S shaped hosel with thin grip on the 18 I had a short putt missed using this method I m okay with long putts with this style but with shorter putts say inside 5 feet I try need to try something different on the practice green for the shorty I gain confident when I “wipe” the blade with my left hand this helps clarify which fingers of my right to feel tight on the handle and just putt with right hand only
  21. I keep it simple. Feels like I’m slicing the ball with a wedge. My hips rotate My rhythm pitch shot feels like green side bunker shot except I lock my hips and purposely hit fat
  22. How did it go? I’m interlocker. I did go back to 10 finger for one round but I feel I don’t have as good coordination and went back to interlocking. I will practice with 10 finger on the range sometimes For iron shots I prefer to have a stronger left hand hold , the higher the loft , the stronger the lefty hand grip
  23. Had birdie and save pars with some good putting. I changed to a double interlocking /overlap grip and felt more confident and comfortable with this grip. I still use reverse overlap for chipping
  24. Consistent irons usually the weakest part of my game. I had a look at some videos I made of my Iron swing at the end of the season when it was feeling great. Notice that my left arm grip was stronger and I was able to make more of a “reflexively” full follow through
  25. Been introducing few new things for my routine finding the low spot on the green and croutching down and starting me read from there when putting This helps me read the correct line. Then I can figure out the spot. The other thing is when chipping I be standing far away from the side profile so I can see the pin and ball. This give me idea if the distance and the elevation to the pin I then look at the lie This will determine which wedge I use
