Lmerrick got a reaction from bens197 in L.A.B. B.2 Putter
An update on my experience so far with the B.2. To be quite honest there is not much that I don’t like about this putter. Starting the ball on line is effortless. I have gotten used to the weight very quickly. I had two of my lowest tournament rounds to date. My putts per round are around 30 (4 rounds under 30 putts). The putter is not the only reason for the low number of putts but I have only had 5, 3- putts in 10 rounds. I will be finalizing my review very soon but I don’t think this putter will lose its spot in my bag any time soon.

I went with Press 1.5 and actually like it a lot. Played a tournament round today with the B.2. 29 putts. No 3 putts. Did a little test on practice green with toe and heel strikes and it is very penalizing if you venture very far off of the sweet spot but the more I use this putter the more I am growing fond of it. Everyone that sees it says it’s ugly so I stroke a putt and ask them if the ball rolling in the hole is ugly. I don’t think I’ve ever had this much confidence over putts.

The workmanship of this putter is exceptional. It is about as simplistic looking a putter as there is. My buddies say it looks like a block of metal on a stick. I have always loved the look of a plumbers neck answer style putter but I am quickly growing very fond of this putter. The fit is great. Setting up there is no manipulation needed. Just line up and go. I’m not going to get too much into the review but I played a practice round with this putter yesterday and an additional 9 holes at my home course in the evening and shot a 69 (par 71) on the first 18 with 5 birdies. One was a chip in but one was a 35’ right to left slightly downhill breaker. I have not had this putter long but I am all in. The best part was not the birdies, it was the fact that most 2nd putts were tap in and when they weren’t the 3-4’ I was able to stroke with confidence and aggressively roll in the longer comebackers. As initial impression for just going out and getting the putter in play I was in love with the feel. I was able to adjust to the feel for speed very quickly and for such a small simple head I felt very comfortable with alignment. I really felt that there was definitely ample forgiveness for a head of this size. I was very skeptical of the press grip going in but it pairs extremely well with this putter and feels very good in my hands. To be honest so far the only drawback to this putter is I physically have to bend over and pick my ball up on gimmies. There is no scooper flange on the back to scoop the ball off the green, but I hope that more long walks to pick the ball up out of the hole are in my future. I know this for the maiden voyage of 27 holes I only had 1, 3 putt. Maybe I was just really dialed in or maybe this putter had a good amount to do with it either way I’m really looking forward to gathering more data. I really look forward to and am grateful for the opportunity to review this putter. Look forward to seeing the reviews of the rest of the group as well. I hope everyone is as stoke as I am out the gate.

Good news is I got the email today that my B.2 is on its way. UPS says Thursday by 7pm. Bad (and good news) I will be leaving for Horsehoe Bay in Austin, Tx. On Wednesday and won’t be back until Sunday evening. So I will get 3 days of golf at Horseshoe Bay but won’t get to put my hands on the putter until Sunday the 11th. With the recent putting struggles I will get 3 competitive rounds next week with my current putter and then going to take a little bit of a gamble and put the B.2 in play for a 54 hole tournament the following week 15th thru 17th. When I get back in town I will roll a few putts with it on Tuesday the 14th then straight into competition for a little trial by fire. This was not my original plan but instead of running it through the putting simulator testing and comparison, I am going to have 3 competitive rounds with current putter and 3 competitive rounds with the B.2 in consecutive weeks. I will keep putts per round and feet of putts made for all 6 rounds and get a little pre testing comparison.

Beauty really is in the eye of the ball-roller. I think I got that right 😉

To me, that's key right there. A lot of putters get put away when I just don't like how they feel. If they don't feel right to me out of the gate, I never gain any confidence with them. Awesome early review so far!

@Lmerrick love the stainless and white combo… maybe better than the brass and black.
Which grip did you go with again?

Ladies and Gentlemen, I bring you good news. I spent wayyy too long at the course today. My receding hairline is very sunburnt to prove it… no, you are not getting a picture… however, I figured out how to use this putter. I had my hands a little too high at set up, but now I’m thinking I should have gone with the flatter lie angle as initially suggested… 🤦🏼♂️
I plan to reach out to Sam to see what he recommends.
Also, it is already starting to dull a little. Won’t be long.
