Thanks, but it isn’t the putter. It’s me. I have no excuses just bad play.

"A Day Out With The Odin X"

Today I will be bringing a unique and unofficial review of the Odin X balls. My review will be based on course performance from the Tee, the mid-short game, and putting. I am currently a beginner level golfer. Thus far I have also played the "Taylormade Soft Response" and "Wilson Duo Soft" balls, respectfully. I hope you all enjoy my review and also check out the review of the "Odin X1" below which is a big reason I am here with the Odin X balls today.
    Forum Member Recap: ODIN X1

Ahh yes, a beautiful 6am Tee time in Long Beach, California after a full day of rain. I decided it was the perfect day to take the Odin X balls and give them a full go. I play a lot of early morning, wet condition, tee times. So I figured this was the perfect opportunity. Below are just some highlights from our trip to Bixby Village!
Here we are getting ready for our tee time before the sun rises! No fog and a perfect morning for golf.
Here we can be seen on the 2nd hole. The Odin decided it was time to take flight over the lake and onto the green. Very great flight it was!

Unfortunately, on our way to the destination, we had to stop for a break. We were almost there!
On our travels today, we hung around the lakes that had gathered on the fairway due to the rain. The ducks greeted us in kind along the way

We treaded through the waters to the 6th stop on our trip. Where we had another short flight onto the green. I could've sworn I saw a birdie 🤔. Sadly, I did not find it.
At last, we had made it to our 9th and final stop before heading home. The Odin and I had a great time, but we were ready to call it.
Unfortunately, I took a wrong turn left along the way and ended up in a rough spot.
And then... Is that a... Bridgestone lost our their in the desert?
Sure enough it was!! So I decided to help it out of the desert and brought it along with us. It was a little weary but to be fair, the Odin was looking powerful that day.
And then finally. We all went home and relaxed.

Thank you all for taking the time to read my little short story. Now, for my review of the ball. The presentation when arriving was excellent, I am a fan of the vibrant colors of the brand. @Jordan ODIN Golf emailed me shortly after my purchase and his customer service is top notch.
When playing the ball from the tee, I could really feel the ball when it connected with my club and through the shot. There was no mistaking the trajectory of the Odin X's. The only balls I had lost were due to large accumulations of water found on the fairways. Overall, I saw a great increase in control and distance using the Odin balls compared to the balls I had previously gamed with.
When it came to the approach and wedges, it was simply more of the same. The feel is amazing from the fairways and even so in the rough as the ball is very workable. Error shots from the tee were easily wiped away. I believe the Odin X's really shine in this area of the game as I found myself regularly finding the green on approach whereas with other balls, it was a guessing game.
Now to the putting, I saw a huge difference in putting. The contact with the ball is clean and has a nice pop up upon release. I found myself not just putting to keep the ball manageable along the greens, but really going for and almost sinking longer putts than with previously used balls. The ball rolls true, through and through.
Overall. This is going to be the ball that I game and the only other ball I am currently going to consider trying at this time is the Odin X1 as the reviews for the X1 are fantastic as well. Everything from the price point to the balls themselves make the Odin brand stand out among the competition.
Are you ready to go balls out?
What are you waiting for? Head over to Odin Golf today!

Great job @Michael.Sandoval33! The Odin balls have been getting some traction here on the forum for both their performance and their pricing scale. I haven't looked into getting any yet as I'm fairly well stocked up on MaxFli Tour balls. Who knows? Maybe I'll get some to try soon as I'm not really much of a club ho, but I was a golf ball ho until I settled in on the MaxFli.
Keep us posted on how they work for you.

Simple answer is: the actual course slope and rating that go into a course handicap don’t realistically apply to SIM versions of the same course, add in that most SIM’s utilize an auto putt function and we, the staff, felt the fairest way to include these rounds would be to have them played without handicaps.
Next season, I’m working on some minor changes to the VCT and if we have the interest do a league for SIM on its own. Details to come

Well it has come time for Jason, Hayes and Mark to graduate into their GolfSpy tags.

All three have done exceptional work behind the scenes and helped us make significant strides with the Forum in various manners. They also are now consistently being published on the main site and seeing their content make a splash.
Honestly we could go on, but we are proud to give them official GolfSpy tags as the go from interns to... well interns with GolfSpy tags.
Thanks guys for all your hard work and congrats on your new titles! As for why they chose what they did you will have to ask them!

Jason formerly known as Jnoble89 (don't think anyone is taking that tag) @GolfSpy_KFT

Did you like the feel better with the additional weight?  I can’t remember, was the “stock” weight 10 g?
It would be nice if Odyssey had a kit that contained multiple weights if someone wanted to tinker with it without having to purchase multiple weight kits for the Ai-ONE series.

buckpillar reacted to Rob Person in Odyssey Ai-ONE Putters - 2023 Forum Review
So stock on the DB is 15g for each weight.  I tested a couple of putts using both 20g Weights, and also alternated between heel and toe substitutions. I can say for sure that the 20g weight added to the HEEL actually made the ball push right by 1" for a 6' putt on the mat. On the toe side I didn't notice any difference in torque/twist. Of course I am in a flat controlled environment,  and real greens may produce different results.
I would like to find the same 5 or 10g weights and see if it changes anything substantial.
There is nothing wrong with the 15g of weights, as I believe they are designed for the most common use and weight optimization

    Introduction-
First and foremost, Thank you MyGolfSpy for this fantastic opportunity.
Testing – Odyssey AI#1 CH with Length  32.75  Loft 1.5*  Lie of 72*
I’m Jeffrey “Buck” Pillar (AKA- “PUTSO” Pillar)
I’m from Southwestern PA and have Been golfing 43yrs, at one point in the early 90's to mid-2000's I was a scratch golfer but now a days I play to a 6-HDCP. I will be testing this putter on course, the backyard putting green, patio and inside the house.
I will test and compare the AI#1 CH putter against a Scotty Cameron and an older Odyssey divine line putter. I will complete individual Heel, Toe, and center strike testing, lag putting, off the fringe, ladder testing and breaking putts.
I’m hoping that the new Odyssey AI#1 CH putter will sharpen my distance control and dispersion, if it does that it will be in the bag!
The excitement this opportunity has brought is next level, being able to review and provide honest feedback for other golfers so they can make an educated decision when trying or buying this putter.
I did some research about the putters new AI technology and hope the variable face thickness and the new white insert seem to be exceptional, but I will find that out through my testing.
I expect through testing, review and prove what Odyssey is claiming about the new AI technology is true or false.
GRADE- 18 out of 20 – Right out the box I was pleasantly surprised, the cosmetics were sleek, color scheme worked well with the shaft and grip combination was nice and the feel was very good. I never had a putter or a regular club with a counter balance weight, this putter feels that it could almost swing itself.

    Odyssey AI#1 CH Final Review
Specs  -  32.75" length, loft of 1.5* and lie of 72*
First Impressions (18 out of 20)
As I look back, first thoughts about the AI Technology were that this is just another concept to sell more putters, after unboxing and taking a few practice strokes I thought this feels good, better than my old Odyssey that’s in the bag for years. The dark blue matte finish on the head was easy on the eyes and the white alignment marking popped off the putter head and made setting up to the line easy.
The STAR of the putter is the AI (Artificial Intelligence) technology, Through the course of testing, the AI technology produces similar ball speed no matter where you strike the ball on the face from heel to toe and top to bottom of the insert, you will get almost the same distance if it wasn’t hit on the sweet spot. I think this new advancement in face technology definitely helped my putting. When you get consistent distance no matter where you hit it on the face will not only help your putting game but mentally provide confidence knowing you’re going to get a reliable and consistent putt every time. a clear window, which allows you to see the AI technology in the new putter heads and how the space age aluminum has been transformed producing consistency across the entire putter face no matter if you hit it on the heel or toe. I think this is just a focal point to show off the technology to your friends after sinking that 30ft birdie putt to go 1 up!
The Stroke Lab SL90 shaft is a stepless shaft with minimal if not any flex, I have never had a putter with a Stroke Lab putter shaft and I was very surprised with the quality performance it brings to the putter, I think it helped transfer stroke energy better to the putter head.
The grip was of the smaller size, with a firm feel and very little tackiness, works very well with the putter. The blue and white color scheme the putter is sharp and sleek, looks ready to tackle any course it plays.

    Aesthetics (9 out of 10)
I love the shape of AI#1 CH blade putter; the length and height are just a hair smaller than other putters but delivers performance on every putt. The white, lighter blue and silver explode off the dark blue color of the head, you can never go wrong with that color combination. The white alignment line provided a great visual at setup. While at the country club, a few golfers commented on the putter looks and feel, all giving high praise to Odyssey.
Sound was not a factor for the Odyssey AI#1 putter, no matter if the putt was off the heel, toe or in the center, I couldn’t tell if there was a noticeable difference. When you could distinguish a difference was when you used different brands of golf balls. You got more of a click when using a Titleist PROV1 compared to a soft spongey thud with a Callaway Supersoft and Taylormade Tour Response was in the middle.

The Numbers (10 out of 10)
As I began testing, I first noticed the balance and feel of the putter, the weights in the head and the counter balance in the butt end was perfect almost felt as it could swing itself. I felt I was able to hit my selected line and with the AI technology was able to keep the dispersion tight and only have a stray putt once is a great while. During testing at the course, I was able to control distance very well and only had two 3 putts during the ladder test that included over .
The Center strike test averaged was 2 ½ inches beyond each measurement, now here is where I became intrigued with this putter, testing hits heel and toe strikes from the same distance.
The Heel test averaged was around 3 inches shorter than the center strike, but when on line it would have hit the bottom of the cup. The heel hits felt very similar to the center strikes, they did not feel like you had to help it to the hole, or getting a heavy feel like you would with other putters.
The Toe Test averaged was about 3 ½ inches short of the center strike, I realized that normally with toe strikes the putter would want to twist away from your line, not with the AI#1, when hit on the toe, this putter generates the same energy as center strikes without having the feeling of any twisting, kept the putt on line and almost identical distance to the center strike.
    15 Feet (180 inches) Center strikes – 182 ¼” Heel – 179 ¾” Toe – 179 3/8”
(3”-inch average difference between center and off center strikes from 15 feet)
    20 Feet (240 inches) Center strikes – 242 ½” Heel – 238 ¾” Toe – 237 ¾”
(4 ¾”-inch average difference between center and off center strikes from 20 feet)
The putter felt firm but soft giving you feedback at impact, so smooth, good sound and the distance was great. The repeatable performance, it gave me a sense that if I wanted to hit it 10 feet it would go 11 feet. Basically, giving you a better chance of holing the putt.

    On-Course (20 out of 20)
During testing I tried any kind of putt you can imagine, from straight up hill, downhill, left to right and right to left breakers, from the fringe you name it I did it. At times I would think I needed to hole a 4-foot downhill left to right breaker to win the MASTERS, let me tell you that the AI#1 CH gave me confidence to make the putt, I relied on what I found out during my testing which gave me a mental calmness because of the putter performance to make the putt. Well, this time I did make it but from longer distances if I did miss it was not the putter’s fault, I was able to keep it on the line I wanted and control was perfect. More than likely, it came down to a miss read.
I found that during the course of a round that I would gain 1.72 strokes for 18 holes from the data I recorded during testing.
The Good, the bad, the in between (18 out of 20)
The Good- Balance, feel, distance control, sound, performance, looks and setup.
The Bad – I really don’t have anything bad to say about this putter.
The in Between - Make the AI technology slightly wider and taller, continue the visual site line onto the top edge of the putter and stamp the gram weight on the heel toe inserts

Play it or trade it? (20 out of 20)
I wouldn’t think twice if I had to use the putter in a pressure packed moment. I definitely would be playing it in all situations. The putter did improve my putting and helped my mental side of the game, when put in the stressful spots it gave me confidence knowing that the reliability is there and to just make the stroke. Price, wise it falls in line with all other top brands, but you are getting more for your money by purchasing the AI#1 putter, this putter is suited for anyone from beginner to the best player in the world.
    Conclusion
The new AI#1 CH putter is a keeper and will be for a long time. I really don’t see any other brands in the rearview mirror of this putter, the technology is that far advanced at this moment, quality, looks and most of all the performance it delivers, will benefit any golfer who puts it in play. I highly recommend this putter, Would I put the AI#1 CH putter in play… You bet your sweet ass I would!!
Final Score (95 out of 100)
Thank to MyGolfSpy for the opportunity to test this putter and Thank you for all the hard work in the background to make everything run like a putt rolling across the 72nd hole to win the MASTERS. I appreciate you all!!
