  1. After I filled in net double bogey for the holes I took Mulligan and I did some censorship to keep the scorecard PG rated, I realized that today as aggravating as it was I managed my best net score. Getting the extra strokes playing from the blue tee helped in that regard, but I think also contributed to Lostballapalooza '23. With rain impending tomorrow, it looks bleak for my hopes getting another round in.
  2. Date 07/01/2023 Course Name Cobra Week 1 Challenge-attempt #3 Gross Score 91 Course Handicap 15 Gross Strokes over/under par 20 Net Score to Par 5 Net Score 76 Net Birdies or better 4 Longest Drive 225 No irons challenge played Clearbrook GC 9 holes followed by Cream Ridge GC blue tees 43-48. The giant glass of bourbon I had between the 9 holes was probably a contributing factor in losing 6 balls on the 2nd 9.
  3. He's not that good at it... His profile says index 13, but he gets 14 strokes at 68.6/120..
  4. I went out for try #3 with no irons. Played 9 at E net, 42 on the par 35. But I can't use the score because I took a Mulligan on #9 after a bad hybrid shot. Ultimately I hit the driving range and got some swings with my new 17° UT and ended up at the bar with a whiskey in front of me. No irons challenge driving me to drink. I didn't keep score the 2nd 9 I played, but I lost all 7 balls I had. I hit some absolute bombs OB left. I'm lining up for a slice that isn't there. I need to concentrate on taking a more reasonable line, let's say the left of the fairway to potentially end up in the right rough if I slice one. Currently I'm aiming OB on the left and 80% of the time I hit a high fade dead center of the FW. The 1/5 that stays straight or gets pulled left by wind is super costly.
  5. Today I rolled the dice with 2 reservations for 9 holes about 30 minutes driving between them. 1:20pm walking then 5:30pm riding. Pace would have to be record setting slow to make me cancel the 2nd tee time, but I'll have my eye on the clock.
  6. Umm, I'll need you to add to my headcover glamor shot thread https://forum.mygolfspy.com/topic/58516-hats-for-bats-headcover-glamour-shots/
  7. I got my putter cover from MGS The Odyssey cover is from DSG, along with a few others I have. Many SG stores have a bin with used ones for $5-10 this is a source for many of mine.
  8. I decide how far I was trying to hit it AFTER it lands. Works much better that way.
  9. 4th of July Weekend patriotic update to WITB Gave my putter a red/white/blue gpaint remodel to replace the previous owner's Miami Nights Neon vision. Also got a 2i 699u to match my 5i 699u and 6i-PW 699 set. Not painting these red/white/blue but I can't think of much more 'Merica activity than miss-hitting a 2i off the astroturf at the driving range before hitting up a dive bar..which is my plan for tomorrow. The set as currently constructed has 14 clubs, but 2 drivers is a luxury I could forego if I find the right wedge or 5w
  10. Interesting note on the 699u 17° the shaping is way different than the 24° I have. Having only seen photos of a 19.5° and my 24° in hand i was worried they may have progressively made the set chunkier up to the longer clubs. Happy to report the 2i is shaped like an iron. It's an interesting comparison photo side by side in hand. I think it illustrates the difference between a utility iron (24° use from multiple lies or off the tee) and a driving iron (17° driver replacement.)
  11. Sub70 699u 17° 2i is my newest addition. Traded 8-9i of a couple irons I had previously tested along with an extra driver I wasn't using to basically get it as an even swap. For fun, a comparison with my Dad's Uncle's 2i from 1958.
  12. The details of this should be good reading. @Jnoble89 you play competitive Scrabble?
  13. From my understanding we have until Sunday to post our best score. Not so much a rematch as a week-long gauntlet. I may only get in 9 holes Sat. then force 9 in the rain on Sunday.
  14. Date 06/28/2023 Course Name Cobra Week 1 Challenge attempt #2 Gross Score 94 Course Handicap 12 Gross Strokes over/under par 22 Net Score to Par 10 Net Score 82 Net Birdies or better 1 Longest Drive 240 Attempt #2 at besting the -5 net posted by my competitor for week 1 of the Cobra Challenge. No irons at Lakewood CC ~6000y par 72. 4 lost balls OB made that an impossibility on this day. 9/14 fw 0/18 gir made a bunch of putts for par and bogey. This shows explicitly I don't have the game for a no irons challenge. I swing harder with my PW it goes higher, not further. Same goes for my 4h often. Were I to attempt this again I'd lean on driver from the tee more often in the mid distances (140-165.) The Stealth hybrid goes boom on the ball, no matter what % I think I'm swinging it.
  15. Date 06/26/2023 Course Name Cobra Week 1 Challenge attempt #1 Gross Score 72 Course Handicap 6 Gross Strokes over/under par 12 Net Score to Par 6 Net Score 66 Net Birdies or better 3 Longest Drive 235 For the Cobra Challenge I challenged @CFreddie so I figured I'd do a lap around the kiddie pool. Bel Aire GC (ironically named luxuriously..the name is the only thing lavish about it) is the closest executive to me, par 60. Plan went well, but pace was beyond too slow for me to play my best game, and aerated greens meant I was not going low on this day. 4/6 fw, 4/18 gir I made a handful of putts that bounced their way in. "I'm surprised how well you played considering you had no irons" -playing partner I didn't feel nearly enthused about the whole ordeal.
  16. Date 06/29/2023 Course Name Bey Lea GC Gross Score 91 Course Handicap 9 Gross Strokes over/under par 20 Net Score to Par 11 Net Score 82 Net Birdies or better 2 Longest Drive 225 Played with Dad. He kicked my butt. Hit the first 6 FWs with one rolling to the rough. 10/14 FWs total. 6/8 gir to start. 3 putted 3 of them. 1 putted none. Hit the ball like I knew what I was doing +5 after 8 holes but honestly with a bit of luck and without the 2 pin placements I noted on the scorecard as "devil's pin location" I could have been even par at that point. Double with another 3 putt was the downfall on #9. Never got back into it. 43-46 for bogey golf score with very few bogeys.
  17. I thought you were goin' button-up. Goin' button-up. Goin' button-ta-Bubba-ta-Bubba button-up?
  18. Pretty much this whole thread, wrong. So so wrong. Especially this
  19. Those S70 irons you had inquired about are now on their site, just noticed 749s for the first time, pretty sharp. I'd get 7i- 49° AW for ~ $400 if I didn't already have the 699.
  20. "I'll believe that when my ___ turns purple and smells of rainbow sorbet."
