  1. Way too many... My wife picks up balls that she finds while I'm playing. She knows the brands that I like. When we get home she cleans them all and puts the ones that I prefer in my bag. She has a collection of balls that she likes. She also has a separate bag of balls that I give to friends.
  2. I absolutely love my Garmin Fenix 7. I'm not good enough to need an exact distance to the pin. Distance to the center of the green is good enough for me. I use the Fenix for so much more than just golf, so it serves many purposes for me. A rangefinder only does one thing.
  3. I am also very happy with the performance of my Garmin (Fenix 7). I played a round with a friend in February that has the whole Apple setup with the "Ultra" watch. I laughed at his two-day battery life! My distances from the green also seemed to be much more accurate while on the course. He would have distances that were up to 40 yards off when compared to the markers in the fairway! I use my watch for many activities aside from golf- hiking and biking are my favorites. I love that Garmin has so many features and no monthly fees.
  4. My instructor charges $50 per lesson. No time limit. He works with somebody until they have the concept figured out. My last lesson was nearly two hours. He was getting frustrated, but I finally figured out what he was trying to tell me, so in the end we were both smiling.
  5. Yeah, for some reason the other day my watch started on hole #6 and I ended up with a 400 yard shot with my 3W. I edited that out when I reviewed my card and shots the next day. That took my average distance for that club back down to where it should be.
  6. I'm a Garmin user! (I have the Fenix 7 Solar) Garmin IS GPS, so distances are spot on. It tracks all of my shots. I don't have the sensors, but the watch asks which club you used after each shot, so that's nice and simple. I love going back through the round later and looking at all of the shots on the hole maps. It gives me all of the stats like fairways hits, GIR, and strokes gained. Personally, I like the caddy features that suggests which club to use. I also use it for mountain biking, hiking, and walking. It has LOTS of features and NO monthly fees! Oh, and battery life? 18 days per charge. Has it helped my golf game? Yes, some. It has helped me identify things that I need to work on. It has definitely helped with knowing how far I actually hit my clubs. For me it's edutainment. Educational as well as entertaining. I love maps and data, so it gives me all of that. One more thing to note- all of this stuff works even if you don't have a data connection.
  7. They sent me a coupon for $450 off an Epix watch. (basically 50% off!) I don't know if everybody got that coupon or not. I'm not going to use it because I love my Fenix. The Epix is an incredible watch, though. DM me if you'd like the code.
  8. Send a feature request to Garmin about showing the satellite view on the hole maps. I've sent requests for biking features and they were added within a month! I'll send a request for the satellite view as well. Here's the website to submit feature requests. https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=New9lrmYqn31dnFvY72EZ7&searchQuery=garmin ideas
  9. I complain when the temperature is above 80!!! I saw 115 on the thermometer one time when we were in California. That's miserable.
  10. Congrats on the promotion! Welcome to the Garmin family!!! DM me if you're interested in following each other on Garmin.
  11. YES!!! Peanut Butter M&Ms!!! NOT Peanut, but peanut butter! Those are definitely my favorites!
  12. I've honestly never even paid that close of attention. I will next time I play a round, though. I have noticed differences on distance when comparing the watch to the distance shown on scorecards and even the sign at the tee box of holes. I have more confidence in what the watch shows in that case since tees move slightly over time.
  13. Yep. It's not too bad when the two holes are going the same direction. I feel worse when they run in opposite directions and you're shooting at each other. FORE!!!!
  14. Yep, I can feel your pain. There are times that I'm on the wrong fairway. I sometimes tell myself- at least I'm in a fairway...
  15. I personally like the second one more. I like how the golf ball background uses the whole screen.
  16. MGS Forums- educational in so many ways!
  17. Hole #1 of my favorite course would definitely be the one. It's a dogleg left. I hit a slice with my driver way too often. I played there about two weeks ago. My tee shot was a bit left of the fairway! The guy I was playing with said "I'll give you a freebie on the first hole tee". I said "Nope, that's way better than being way over there where I'm usually at!
  18. I tried it for one hole. Then I changed it back. I prefer to see the map. I like to be able to tap on the map to get distances to hazards.
  19. Wow, quite the course there! I just looked through the scorecard/map and followed the course on Google Maps. Looks like there is water on 16 of the holes!!! I would lose at least a dozen balls in a round there!
  20. I started to read the reviews, but then realized that the Stack is only available for Apple. That's a hard NO for me. I'm not going back into fruitland jail. Are there any speed training systems that users would recommend for Android users?
  21. I personally like plenty of data. Looks like @FallenSaber and I think similarly!
  22. Based on posts here on MGS, I bought a Grooveit during the offseason. Sadly, it was leaking water so fast that it would by dry by hole 13 or so... I took the thing apart and put it all back together making sure everything was very tight. It seemed to last through my last round. I just put water in mine. The magnet is great! It will grab the brush even when it's a good six inches away!
  23. Very cool! Did you make that yourself?
  24. Yep, I like it when the course works with nature. Take advantage of water, trees, and elevation changes that were already there! The course that I consider my favorite is called "Deer Track". 10 of the holes have water features. Garmin shows 500 feet of elevation gained throughout the 8.6 miles travelled around the course. Three of holes are par 3s where the tee is 20-30 feet higher than the green, so club selection is critical. I enjoy playing this course even though the grass may not be as pretty as some other places. A local course is called "The Ravines". I feel that it's a misnomer. Only four of the holes holes use the ravines as part of the course. The front nine are basically flat land. Garmin shows 239 feet of elevation gained in 8.1 miles travelled. There are five ponds on the course. They try to bill themselves as "medium upscale" and " country club playing condition", but I'm not really into it. While we were on vacation in Tennessee in November of 2023 I played at a course called "Bent Creek". It's in a valley, so the views were much nicer than what we have in Indiana. Garmin showed 473 feet of ascent in 7 miles travelled. There were multiple creeks on the course. I noticed water on 16 of the holes! I really felt like this course worked with nature. Multiple fairways had breaks in them due to the terrain, so I really had to plan my shots. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
  25. I guess there are some pros and cons to each system. I spend way too much time in the rough looking for my ball, so you made a good point.
