How long do you play a ball before retiring it?
quod erat replied to aguybadatgolf's topic in General Equipment Talk
I have been unlucky with mine. They all enjoy scuba diving or forest adventures so much that they choose early retirement. -
Late afternoon into evening. Golf is about winding down for me -- I don't play as well if I know that there's work/errands waiting on the other side.

Going to start walking courses instead of riding - Any advice?

Get a pushcart. You'll get (almost) all the exercise of walk+carry, but without the back pain. Treat a round of golf like a real workout. On hot days especially, walking 18 has some meaningful cardio and muscle strain. Bring water and some kind of protein/carb food (bar, PB sandwich, etc.). Enjoy! I almost always walk, to a point where I now avoid carts at all costs. You have more time to think about the next shot, enjoy the course, and the calorie burn means there's a guilt-free hot dog waiting at the end. -
Worst equipment mistakes you've made

I hit graphite for the first time at my last fitting and was sold immediately. If you don't always hit the center -- I certainly don't -- it really makes a difference. -
Smoked salt is great, but in most dishes it'll be a lot more subtle than liquid smoke. Another option that might work for hickory sauce: some smoked paprika.

Just … no. Put an earbud in, or two. But don’t make me listen to your music. *shakes fist at cloud*

Probably just in the head -- but it's in my head too. I can't hit from the oversized cup tees for the same reason ... subconsciously, I think my body feels like it has to scoop the ball out of the tee. It's not a great thing to think about for drives.

Anyone completely ditched fairway woods in their bags?
quod erat replied to jbsap's topic in General Q&A
Opposite. I'm up to a 7w and have been considering a 9w. I'm giving long irons another chance (new set with graphite shafts), but they're on a short leash. -
Great article. I grew up there but didn’t take up golf until years after I’d left. I even had no idea there were Migros golf parks!

What is the most under appreciated brand in golf?
quod erat replied to GolfSpy_APH's topic in General Equipment Talk
I hit some Srixon irons during my last fitting and loved everything about them: feel, look, performance ... great stuff. I really wanted to like the driver/woods when I came back the next day, but just couldn't get along with them. -
I'm not a great golfer. My goals for this year are to get to a point where I think less about my swing and more about the course: where to aim, where to miss, how to outsmart the course architect.

New here -- could I have the Lefty badge and (to keep things honest) the "broke 100" badge added to my profile? Looking forward to contributing!

Short list! - Cobra F6 (with some other odds and ends - a Vokey wedge, etc.) --- bag got stolen --- - Srixon MKII ZX4

I recently went through a full-bag fitting, courtesy of an off-season thief who thought that grabbing a bag full of old lefty clubs would be worth it. The AI Smoke Max D took the top spot; glad to see it's receiving high praise in this review.
