  1. ... A net 60 using only 4 clubs? You two should be ashamed of yourselves!
  2. ... Perfect! I have a friend that played golf in high school so I guess he's ready for the Open Championship!
  3. ... I hope you love performing under pressure. The last infomercial I shot I counted 47 people on set making it happen with just me on camera. It is crazy busy, all of them hustling and bustling about and then suddenly, dead silence and all 47 sets of eyes on you and expecting you to perform without making any mistakes. If you love that kind of attention ... Welcome to Showbiz my man!
  4. ... I think most of you know I am flying to Portland tomorrow for three probably 12-14 hr days shooting some more infomercials and commercials for my favorite Medicare Advantage Plans. But here is the BIG NEWS. Talking to my agent I found out they may be replacing Jamie from the Progressive commercials. I couldn't believe it! I told her not only do I know someone that looks just like Jamie right down to the haircut but he IS Jamie in real life and wouldn't even have to act!!! So expect a phone call CFreddie!
  5. ... Crazy how one bogie can sting so much. I didn't wanna cry baby when I posted my score and hard to tell from the picture but it was sitting about 1/4 of the way down in the front of this divot and squirted left, leaving a silly hard up and down with my 51* wedge. My only bogie of the round. Of course no guarantee I would have had a par from a good lie because the pin was in a difficult spot but it still sucks. Then again I did get a good bounce on one of my birdie holes so as you said "that's golf"
  6. ... Wow, another great round Tom, Congrats! But seriously do you have to copy everything I do? Right down to a 68 with exactly 5 birdies and 1 bogie?
  7. ... Oh I feel your anguish. True for any round, but especially true when you don't have your full arsenal of clubs. You are going to miss greens with only 4 clubs and not having all your wedges means limited options. Not bad if you have a clear bump and run but if pins are in difficult positions it makes for a really tough round. I would add for my round using only 4 clubs, the pins were in the best rotation for limited short game options so I got really lucky.
  8. ... Ga'day Mates. Loving watching' the Open with insane high temps making golf unplayable the last 6 days. A weird time as I will be heading' to Portland to shoot some more Humana infomercials and commercials through next Friday. Not complaining as I love the work! ... But this is by far the longest stretch of no golf since I moved to Phoenix and not even sure if I will be able to play when I return. Fingers crossed we will finally fall below our record of consecutive days of 110* or higher. That record has already been shattered but still 8 more days predicted before we drop below 110*.
  9. ... Six of us MGS members were lucky enough to be selected to take part in the Cobra 50th Anniversary Special. We didn't pick team mates because essentially we are all on the same team. The competition was a ton of fun as was the trash talking. I hope most didn't miss the irony that my own team mate took the brunt of the abuse. Fwiw, I checked with CFreddie early to make sure he would not take offense and he said "Bring it!" That takes some Big Cajones. ... All the joking aside, as others have said we are all winners. Some of us have a whole bag of new Cobra clubs and some of us have several new Cobra additions to our bag. I think most of us were not shocked at all but maybe a little surprised at how the performance matched up with our games. Especially if we had gone through a fitting and had our clubs right where we wanted them. I know I never expected fairway woods or a putter to make my bag. ... So I want to sincerely thank my fellow competitors for all the fun and a HUGE thanks to all that members joined in, both in print and on the course. You guys took this challenge to a whole 'nuther level!
  10. ... I am admittedly biased but it is hard to beat the King Tour irons that Rickie Fowler is playing right now (a lifelong MB user), last years MIM Tours ($549 new) or a few years old Cobra Forged Tour irons. Same for a few years old T100 and T100S. They all have an MB like profile and top line but with more pop and forgiveness.
  11. I asked a supermarket worker where they kept the canned peaches. He said, "I'll see" and walked away. He never came back. When I saw another supermarket worker, I asked her. She said, "I'll see" and walked away. She never came back either. I got tired of waiting and started looking up and down every aisle. I finally found them. They were both in Aisle C.
  12. ... Not to take away from the topic, because there is obviously value in the thirst for knowledge and for those that can go down the rabbit hole without be sidetracked by the Mad Hatter or the White Rabbit, I salute you. I have alway felt most "proper swing" instruction is geared toward athletes in good shape that have both the physical skill and mental aptitude to pursue a model swing. The trouble in paradise is most that play the game do not fall into that category, a lesson I learned pretty quickly in my teaching days. ... There are just soooooo many different ways to successfully hit a golf ball without being fundamentally sound. It just depends on if you are looking to go from shooting 100 to the upper 80's or 100 to the low 70's. If Raymond Floyd showed up for a lesson saying he has been struggling with his ball striking the first thing almost every instructor would say is "Your takeaway is so flat and under the plane you have no chance of recovery with your downswing. It really is a death move." And for a golfer struggling with poor contact and erratic shots they would be 100% correct. Doing so with Floyd would have destroyed a very technically flawed but Hall Of Fame golf swing. ... But golfers come in all shapes, sizes and abilities. Most just want to do what they already do, just better. I would never attempt to dissuade any player from trying to build a fundamentally sound swing IF they have the time, the inclination and the ability to do so. But give me an overweight golfer, with poor flexibility that never played another sport battling a weak slice with a flawed swing and if I can turn his swing into a stronger power fade with some of the flaws reduced and into a repeatable swing ... most would be ecstatic with those results. ... You simply cannot teach many golfers with a video demonstrating correct movements. The major issue is everyone isn't doing what they feel like they are doing. Even the Pro's. This leads to most need someone else watching and instructing in person to accomplish what they are trying to do because more often than not, it is another flaw that has them in the position to begin with. Very similar to a Dr just giving out medication to cure a symptom without addressing the cause. But what you can do in a video is cover some basics that can help someone not interested in turning into Adam Scott but interested in better contact and perhaps address a common flaw. Instructors like Monty are very good at this and their videos are quite valuable to a wide range of players. But he isn't for everyone anymore than "biomechanical theory perspective which also includes detailed anatomical descriptions" is for everyone. Putting Racing Tires on a Prius won't turn it into an Indy Car. .... But always fun and interesting to discuss all the different ways people attack this game both mentally and physically.
  13. ... @Jnoble89 and @CFreddie you guys notice as we get near the end Team #2 (really just Tom) and their followers are getting testy?
  14. ... Certainly a novel way of saying "I just really don't like JNoble, CFreddie and Chisag". (I just hope our kids don't read your response).
  15. ... Must been a long trip Tom and I hope you get some well needed rest. We do this challenge one week at a time. There are 6 challengers this week so I am sure you can do the math. But if you want to claim a Silver Medal for coming in last out of 2 when the final results are tallied you are certainly welcome to claim that title as it will be well earned.
  16. ... Welcome back and I wish you the Best Of Luck! Coming in 4th is never easy but I have no doubts you can rise to the challenge! I know what you are thinking. There is only a Gold, Silver an Bronze medal and none for 4th. Just remember, it is about the competition, not the results. Go Team #2 because 4th, 5th and 6th are within your grasp!!!
  17. ... Ya know folks, after reading 124 pages of the Cobra Challenge, one thing has made itself abundantly clear:
  18. ... I was thinking of you watching QB on Netflix. The stark contrast between Cousins very analytical approach and Mahomes free wheeling mental attitude was very interesting.
  19. ... While all obviously made an error in judgement I am particularly disappointed in @JohnSmalls @cnosil and @Yellow Ball
  20. ... It has been an amazing phenomenon with these Cobra challenges producing low scores. I think the added focus and imagination required is just different than using a full bag. Low expectations can be another factor. Great Round and glad you could join the competition! * More often than not the culprit is trying to lift your short irons, and it can be a subconscious effort. Next time you are at the range, take two more clubs than needed and drive the shot in low not worrying if it goes long. Not a 3/4 knockdown shot but a full swing with the intention of flighting it low. After several shots switch the the proper yardage club but try and use the same swing, driving it in low. It has been my experience that many of these problems are not so much physical swing issues as much as they are mental errors and just changing your approach can fix the issue. Hopefully this helps.
  21. ... A friend and I booked a round at The Fort. When we arrived they had an outing and evidently our booking was an error. I never got another chance to play there so thanks for the pictures.
  22. ... Wow what beautiful views! That is as different from desert golf as you can get. Haha we both bogied #6 so that's some real teamwork. But your birdies on #7 and #16 absolutely help, way to go pard! We have a team score of 66 and that is a very nice target score using 4 clubs only. And the Thanks are mine IBonzo and I hope your 2 birdies earn you a Cobra Polo and a Hat! PS. be sure and post your score in the VT and hit Cobra 4 Club Challenge in the drop down menu.
