  1. I rode Harleys for years but after 4 years of living down here and having several friends killed I gave it up too. If I move from down here and into a rural area again I may get me a Harley Trike but absolutely not if I continue to live here..
  2. I think when you hit the South Carolina line turn signal use is optional no matter where you are from
  3. I have built some hot little 5 and 7 woods around here for some of the older guys. Now I use various heads my favorites being the V-Steel and the old Callaway small head S2H2. Both of those are getting rare and hard to find. On this end of the beach they are known as "Stu's Little Heaters" I have actually been experimenting with the hybrids lately and built me a couple of little heater hybrids. Now my 4 hybrid I did not really build since it has a stock shaft but I did tweak it some on weight distribution and balance and did a lie adjustment
  4. Ping Zing 2--- Baby Doll Scotty Santa Fe--- Rusty because it is Titleist 915 D2 ---- Jordan because he did game one Old Adams 5 wood-- The ugly duckling because that is the ugliest club since the Cleveland VAS Callaway Steelhead 3 wood (old) --- Pocket Rocket Penna persimmon driver--- Tuck named after Chris Tucker who played it on the PGA Tour Macgregor IM-5 Iron Master putter-- Kenny named after the man who gave it to me in 1972. Oviously I do not game all of these clubs but once one gets a name it stays
  5. Those are Eye 2 clones. A lot of companies did advertising stuff like that in the 70s and 80s. There were quite a few companies that offered this type of custom castings as long as you ordered enough units. LOL I have a Burton PGA/ Pepsi red white and blue golf bag I bought at a yard sale a while back. I think it was one where Pepsi was in promotion with The Carolinas Section of the PGA back in the early 80s. I have also seen the Coca-Cola version of your irons. They are not worth hardly any money unless you find someone that is a die hard collector of Pepsi stuff. You know they would be a conversation piece for your Man cave or shop if you cleaned and paint filled them with red white and blue
  6. I always like an unofficial review. It will be interesting to hear your opinion. My running partner Bear and his brother have been experimenting with the Master grip C-4 balls some lately. For us they seem to perform as good as a Pro V for a heck of a lot less money. I feel about them about the Kirkland that they are a quality ball and would not hesitate to put one in play in a money match or a serious comp. I for one do not play big money matches or comp any more and will be dammed if I am paying $50 or more for a dozen balls. Lately I have a source that I get used Pro Vs from mostly used logo one cheap. Now yesterday I messed around and played the Callaway Super Soft since I got a dozen free from a Cally rep I know. I had played one of those balls I found in the past with the vintage stuff and liked it. Never had played it with the modern stuff. I like the control of it off the hot faced Cally irons and got used to putting it. They are cheap too I noticed $19.95 at Wally World. But yeah your review will be interesting so to speak. One thing I would have to get used to is the name "Cut" Makes me think of the Balata days when you miss one and lay it open. LOL I also play a baby fade or cut shot as my standard shot
  7. Solid advice and you have to be tolerant not to the point of being "Politically Correct". Basically the way I am is the wife and I do our own thing and you do yours. I have no problem with one's opinion as long as they do not bother us physically. I will also admit when I am wrong. One of my favorite sayings and it is from the heart is Ain't nothing I say the Holy Grail or etched in stone it is just my humble opinion
  8. And sadly you are 100% correct--- I have stated this before but I feel it bears saying again--- As a proud American veteran I may not agree with your opinion political or otherwise but I will fight to the death if necessary for you or anyone else to have the RIGHT to express it.
  9. As I have said before I do not mess with that crap. Now my wife does. My only "social media" is here and WRX
  10. Very correct. that may be why I never liked a Bulls Eye putter back in the balata days too soft. Back in those days I putted some with a Mac IM-5 then switched to Ping. I guess on your synopsis I would be middle of the road for someone who started on balata. Now today I do not like an insert putter with the one exception of the older TM AGSI in an older Rosa Daytona I have. I do not like softer wedges aka Miura or Mizuno. Really as "hard " as they are compared to balata I like both Pro Vs for some reason. Those Maxfli U/6 balls you mentioned a friend of mine bought a boat load of them cheap at DSG. He gave me a sleeve for some reason I spin the crap out of them and was "hairing" them up even with a half worn out Wilson 65* JP wedge. I actually spun them too much with the driver. For me nothing putts like a Titleist. But as you correctly stated "subjective" or in plain language "different strokes for different folks"
  11. I tried the Kirkland balls when they came out a friend in Florida graciously sent me a sleeve. I have messed around with different balls the last 3 years including the Snell but always come back to the Pro V. I get them used from several sources down here which is good enough for me since I do not play comp or big money matches any more.
  12. That is why they make different balls. Now me I can spin any ball even a range rock because of my cut swing and the soft tipping on my iron shafts except the wedges which I have S-400s in. I can spin the E6 fine but it is one of those aerodynamically tricked up balls and I can not work the cut at all with it. I know this sounds funny but that ball goes too straight for me
  13. Good Deal sounds like you have it dialed in for your game!!!!
  14. More than likely since loosing the weight you are turning through the ball better and have picked up some SS. I know I did but I lost my weight gradually and tuned my swing with it. I still hit my 3 yard fade because I hold the club off low on the follow through. I hit sort of a low trajectory ball compared to most except the 8 iron thru 56 wedge. But with the cut and sidespin combo I control it better. Now that 915 of mine will rock and roll on a draw but I have found out if trying to hit the draw a lot my old nemesis the rope hook crops up. I fear the rope hook more than most guys fear the shanks (oops did not mean to type that offensive word to many). I will throw one more iron in the fire so to speak. A lot of the settings vary not only do to one's swing but the shaft selection and shaft profile of the selected shaft. Personally unlike most old schoolers I think the adjustable drivers and FWs are the greatest thing since sliced bread. Gives one many shaft and trajectory options
  15. On my 915 D2 I use the A-2 setting. The reason is I have a self taught cut swing to combat a bad rope hook problem. Now I swing outside in to cut the ball. I can control and work the cut. I am 60 years old and have played all my life. Now I was a late convert to metal woods and did not play them until 02 or so. Now I am as old school as they get as any of the old timers on this site will tell you. When I first started messing with the 915 I finally got on a launch monitor and found out I was getting too much side spin with other settings. I also have the face open about 2* at impact so that setting puts it at neutral for me at impact. Also with a 10.5 std loft with the face in open position on the setting I will balloon and side spin the crap out of one. I also deloft at impact some too so in reality at impact I am about 8.5*. I also tee the ball low to hit what I call my standard drive which is a stinger 3 yard cut. I am in more control keeping the ball low. But that is basically why I do that setting
  16. I loved the Treo Softs but I think they quit making them I went back to the Pro Vs both of them. I had did a trade deal and ended up with 4 dz brand new older 392 Pro Vs which IMHO is the best they ever made. But I also have a local source I get grade AAAA used ones cheap in fact less for a dozen than brand new Srixon Soft Feels at Wally World. Hit another smoking hot deal on some older 392 Pro Vs the other night. Seems this vendor I know that sells used balls at the flea market can not get folks to buy the used older 392s. They pick through them so he sold me 4 dozen for $5 per dozen and they are a mix of grade AAs and probably A grade. So I have a stock of Pro Vs for now. Now when I play persimmon vintage of Hickory vintage I play the Soft Feels or the Cally Super Soft balls
