This isn’t entirely true. If you find the right guy(I lucked into it) you can get new for substantially less than most places. For Most big retail places it’s probably true though.

The used market on golf forums is always the best option and usually really good at policing itself against fakes. There are plenty of fakes out there so always do your homework and remember if something is too good to be true it probably is. eBay is also good but they charge ya tax which adds to the cost. As for a suggestion I’d try to get a driver fitting somewhere. Let them know upfront you won’t be purchasing if you won’t be. This will get you a good idea of what shafts work for you and then you can shop around and find them or similar shafts. Also don’t get set on what “should” be a fit. I swing 108-113 and can get to 120 if I really go after it and have played shafts in the 40-70 gram weight range and from Regular flex to XX Stiff. Current shaft is the Aretera Alpha One Grey 65/04 shaft. It’s made by a new company that was founded by the guy that developed the Ventus Velocore. It’s really good if you get a chance to hit it.

I love mine. I no longer need to carry a damp towel either. If the face doesn’t get a bunch of mud in the grooves I just spray the face with the brush and wipe it off with a towel. Had it for about a year and honestly don’t know how I managed without it.

I played the x-stiff Brava shaft for a bit last winter during league golf. It’s a great shaft but make no mistake if you swing 100 or better it isn’t an autoflex killer. It is more stable and lower spin/launch than the autoflex for sure in stiff and x-stiff.

I’ll go a different direction and say when in a slump buy a new to you club. Can be a cheap piece of beating up crap but the different look and feel can be a help. Plus it feels good to get clubs in the mail lol

Nice. I know the kick feeling is a timing thing and I’ll get there with more repetition but it’s amazing that even without it it is just so consistent. I hope more people get a chance to game this shaft.

Today was a great day off the tee. Really hoping that today continues next round. I managed 5/7 fairways on the front and an amazing 6/7 on the back with the only miss being like 5 feet. This combo is really something for me. The Aretera Alpha One Grey has transformed the PXG head and my tee game. If this is a honeymoon I hope it never ends. One thing to note from today was I noticed on a few swings that there was a pronounce kick to the shaft at impact that wasn’t there on Friday. There was a noticeable distance gain on those swings too. There seems to be a gear here that I need to unlock more often. Gonna try to get some trackman numbers this week.

Great stuff Jamie. Looks like a beautiful course. I’m hoping to play more tournaments this year too but I’m more looking at 4-man ones over singles. Just because I got away from playing with my buddies over the last few years and really wanna get back to doing it. Good Luck

Looks great. Love the #9 style putters but they don’t like me on the greens lol. Im always envious of those that can do this work. So clean. Bravo Wish I could make my own putter. It’d be a “mini” X5/EV5 style with a flow neck and the descending loft face milled out of carbon.

Probably for the best. You may prefer it over the Paradym lol

No most wanted testers that are left handed?

It feels really good but is large. So far it’s really my biggest complaint. The PXG BO is bigger than the TM M2 gen2 head that my BIL has. What are the odds that HQ has a lefty one on hand when you visit?

Well unfortunately we got another 1”+ of rain last night and the course is now soaked. No carts which isn’t a deal breaker but half the holes are also closed. Almost 4” of rain since Wednesday night has made for a muddy mess. Wind has picked up and the sun is peaking through so fingers crossed I’m good for tomorrow. If not I’ll go to another town to play. The itch to keep hitting the Aretera Alpha One shaft is real! Tried getting in on the sim but it’s currently booked so unless there is a cancellation I’m stuck. I shoulda left my cage up for the mevo plus.

Yeah hitting the ball high is never an issue for me even at 8* turned down 1.5*. It’s a blessing and a curse lol

Yeah playing the Alph One Grey 65/4. Thought about going with the Blue 55/4 but so far appears I made the right choice with the grey

Ok got a quick 9 in before it looked like it was gonna rain. First impressions are really favorable. 1st hole 363 yard par 4. No range so aimed down the middle. Hit a nice little cut that ended up 5 feet off the fairway 80 yards left. 3rd hole 313 dogleg left par 4. Aimed over the trees. Hit another cut that carried the trees but ran out of fairway due to the dogleg. Half 4th hole is a 533 yard dogleg right par 5. Trusted the cut and nuked it. Middle fairway 210 out. Big 5th hole is uphill 330 yard par 4. Left to right wind as it started to pick up. Aimed left to compensate and hit a pull cut that didn’t make it back enough. My fault but no check. 6th hole is a dogleg left 286 par 4. Playing into the wind and played the cut. Hit another it right where I aimed but no cut. Hole high 10 yards left of the green. 7th hole is a downhill 470 yard par 4. Right to left wind so played the cut aiming down the middle. Another nuked drive middle of fairway 147 left. 9th hole is a 560 yard uphill par 5. Left to right wind. Played left edge and hit a slight pull cut that the wind helped back to the left edge of the fairway. 280 left. Only 3 fairways but 5.5 checks out of 7 is a win for me. There is no real kick feeling with this Aretera shaft. That said there is zero boardy feel. I just wanted to keep hitting it. Hoping to grab a full 18 tomorrow afternoon if it doesn’t rain.

Headed to the course for a few holes before the rain comes back. Feel like a kid in a candy store. Can’t wait to hit this beast

It’s a brand new company and this is their first shaft to hit the market. The talk is a super stable shaft that doesn’t feel boardy. TXG/Club Champion did a review of the alpha one shaft. I did the waggle test and while this thing feels super head heavy, there is no give or soft feeling/flex to it. Feels like a sledgehammer.

Alright time to unhide this one and get this going. I’m gonna try to get some swings in tomorrow after work as we just got over 2” of rain so no chance tonight. Also planning at least 2 full rounds this weekend. Let’s go

I grabbed the shaft from John Monday after work along with an all fit adapter. He will build the club for you or sell you raw shafts or heads. I chose to do the build myself for this review. Last night I installed the adapter and tonight added the Golf Pride Tour Velvet Align grip on. This will be very interesting as this is a heavier shaft than I’m used to playing. I usually stay in the low/mid 50g shafts and have played R/S/X in a variety of shafts over the years. My swing speed hovers in the 108-113 range but can get up to 120 if I swing all out. Last year I played the Paradym TD 8* with a few shafts. I ended up playing most of the year with a Ventus Velocore Blue 5R shaft and had some of the best driving of my life. This lead to my first ever round in the 60’s(68). The start of this year has been a different story. As many of you know I was an official mgs tester of the Flightscope Mevo/Mevo+. With the added inside swing I developed a fade swing with driver. This is tough to adjust to as I played a draw almost exclusively last year which was awesome coming from a slice when I started golfing. This review will start with the Aretera Alpha One Grey 65/4 shaft paired with the PXG Black Ops 8* head. I am a high spin/high launch guy and while the tour-1 may have been a better fit, the golf store I stopped at 2 weeks ago in another city didn’t have it so I opted for the regular head.
