Do you play with a lot of buddies when you play? That's the only thing that has stopped me from joining a club. My dad and I still play a lot together and if I joined one I wouldn't want to travel around playing a lot of different places and not using my membership. What caught my eye on the site was a coupe tweets from MGS. I hadn't heard of it. After seeing three or 4 about product testing I looked deeper into it. I joined so I could read more about how the product testing actually worked. What I found was that I didn't know nearly what I thought I knew about golf equipment, accessories, balls, clothing, etc. the things I've bought from reviews or that were mentioned here goes up daily. We don't have an amateur tour but East TN does a FANTASTIC job of not only having tournaments but also marketing them. Great turnouts and great payouts. I'm a former college golfer, although small college. Today I can shoot anywhere from 71-87. I always hit it good on the range so I never know what will actually happen once I get in the course. The last 2-3 years I hit shots that are mind-numbingly bad. Simple shots that just make me wonder what I'm doing spending money on this game. But alas, I keep going out and playing and practicing. Played in a two man scramble this weekend-sat and Sunday. I hit it fairly well and my partner hit it decent but we putted like DOGS! I was so confused all weekend on speed and break. Would look at the putt from all over and then completely misread it or hit an awful speed putt. We actually three putted multiple times in a 2 MAN SCRAMBLE!
