  1. I absolutely love this idea. We need to make it happen!
  2. That is exactly what I am interested in. I'm hoping to get fitted with one of the main guys who developed the Titleist Custom fitting process. He runs his fitting and range center out of OKC. So fingers crossed!
  3. Thanks everyone for the congratulations! I’m very excited to test out the SM10s. Fun fact: I have never hit a vokey wedge. I’m ecstatic about the opportunity to test them out AND go through the Titleist fitting process. I’ll document it all.
  4. Hello again fellow spies! I am back for what I think is my 7th test for MGS. A quick thank you to the forum and the fine people over at Titleist for the opportunity to test out the SM10s from Vokey. A few things have changed since my last test both in my work life as well as my golf game. I am now the head golf coach at Edmond Memorial High School here in Oklahoma. I am also proud to say that I have pretty much unlimited access to Trackman as I co-own an indoor golf place. Considering I now coach golf and have a golf business, I think it is finally safe to say that I am a golf addict at this point in my life. Considering I have been playing this wonderful game since my freshman year of college. The only difference now being that I am a full time teacher/coach and a full-time dad. That being said, my golf game is in a bit of a transition. As a former college athlete I desperately want to get into the competitive side of golf. For the last 2 seasons I have tried my hand at some small tournaments here in Oklahoma as well as a Ryder Cup Style event in June. With tournament golf in mind going into this test here are my thoughts prior to testing. Titelist is a brand name tied to excellence in the golf community. Vokey is one of the very reasons that Titleist equipment has such an aura about them. It has been a wedge brand that, for most of my golfing journey, I thought was too elite for a golfer of my caliber. I have never hit Vokey wedges before, so expect this to be a bit of a spiritual experience. My plan is to test in a pretty traditional sense, since I will have access to a Trackman anytime, you will probably see a lot of data. I have 10 free rounds anytime from now until the end of August at my usual course and hopefully will have the SM10s before a 4 day golf trip to Branson in June so there should be plenty of on course testing as well. Another idea I am fond of is an only-wedges round from the front tee box. The thinking behind this is that I would find myself in TONS of scrambling situations and in between shots that in a normal 18-hole round. The hope is that I would have to be more creative, use more of the bounce on the wedges and really get to see if they could handle that kind of shot making. Before I sign off here is the swing currently and the handicap as it sits today: Looking at what Vokey and Titelist are saying about the SM10s I will be focusing on the grinds (which I hope will help me on these Oklahoma grasses) and spin. The main point I got from reading the ads and the Titleist video was that these wedges will be scoring weapons and will allow a player to better control their ball and theoretically lead to more scoring chances. If I can feel as though I am more in control of my golf ball and get consistent performance out of the SM10s they will not leave my bag for a long time. Swing as of 5_12_24.mp4 All in all, I have tested only 1 Titleist product before, the TSi 3 driver. While that test was huge, Titelist wasn’t really known for their drivers then. So the expectations were somewhat muted. With the Vokey SM10s however, the expectations are very high. Vokey is a name synonymous with excellence and premium performance; I cannot wait to see if they live up to the hype.
  5. My main tracks are no more than $25 to walk 18. Pretty good public courses too.
  6. Currently and since 2014 I have used Arccos. I love it and the data it provides but I have never had to pay for the subscription as I have gen 2 sensors…well my sensors are starting to die and now I’m at a crossroads. Do I continue my Arccos quest or switch to shotscope? I hate the idea of paying for that on top of all of the money I spend on golf anyways. I’m leaning towards switching. Even if it means losing all of that data.
  7. Update on mine: I gifted the bag to my wife who needed to desperately upgrade from an old Wilson bag we found at a garage sale. She hasn't done it yet but she intends to change the color scheme with the zip to fit feature.
  8. Just took advantage of the 2 wedge and polo offer from Sub70! Got 2 TA III Forged black wedges, in 54 and 58 degrees. They are AWESOME!
  9. As a former baseball player...Oakley was ALWAYS my go-to and still is for golf. Like others have said, your collection puts mine to shame. I'm to the point now where I don't ever play without sunglasses.
  10. Took a short out to western Oklahoma and played 2 courses. Played Roman Nose Golf Course, on State park land. Fun little course and the total was $30, tough being in early Spring conditions but I would recommend. A buddy and I then headed all the way out to Woodward to play Boiling Springs Golf Club. Another course on state park land. It was AWESOME, already scheming when I can go back. Played OK at Roman Nose and shot an 86. I shot +4 ( 39) over the front 9 at Boiling Springs, then the wheels fell off on the back 9 with a nice and tidy 52! Granted I was playing with borrowed Irons (The weight in my i210s had fallen out and were being replaced) and the wind was gusting up to 35 mph but still...no excuse for that one, golf is hard. Alas, fun courses, fun company and a chance to play golf 2 days in a row, what is better than that?
  11. I swore I would never do it but man...it was so nice to walk a round of golf in them. So comfortable...I was shocked just hoe much I liked them.
  12. As a High School golf coach I have my .02. Dress code: yes there needs to be something. But it shouldn’t be beyond no jeans and no tank tops. my players want to play in shorts and a t shirt. They also love joggers, which I tried and WOW were they comfy! But I do think clubs, yes, even munis should have some sort of code. I think the biggest problem is alcohol tbh, I know that take might get me a lot of hate lol
  13. I did a front tee challenge yesterday with the winds howling at 25-40 MPH (Early Spring golf in Oklahoma...) and took driver on a few holes that I really didn't NEED to. But most misses were hole high even if off by a dozen or so yards. Shot even par and hit 6/9 GIRs. I really loved needing only a decent wedge into the greens, I think I only hit 5 fairways, never really even considered that my goal. Loved the article from the OP. A lot of Lou Stagner/SG vibes.
  14. Our OKC municipals did I frequent player special this year, 10 tee times for the price of 8 that can only be used between April-December of the year. Whole thing was only $220 walking. $22 per round isn’t too bad for some decent golf courses. This deal was a no brainer for me on my Christmas list.
  15. Just completed the round from hell…shot a 99 with 35 putts. I have no words
  16. Currently use a pistol grip and I love it. Been left hand low for 5-6 years now and all has been with a pistol grip. I don’t notice any issues.
  17. Well I am knee deep in the weeds at this point I think. If it truly is the issue of writing a clear, concise & narrowed definition of a divot then perhaps the issue be shelved until we can indeed write a good one. I don't want to rehash old arguments as I do not want to be annoying.
  18. If there was a rule for relief from divots it would need to be written very narrowly, so there is a clear definition of what does and what doesn't constitute a divot. That is where I do agree with the article that it could sometimes be difficult to fully define what a divot is vs what it isn't which IMO is the best counter-argument to getting relief. Couldn't the rule could just be written and apply to divots as an extension of the appendix rule dealing with course damage? I'm not saying preferred lies should always be a thing but the only exception could be divots as that is technically damage to the course.
  19. I don’t disagree that it happens very infrequently, all the more reason for relief when it does happen. Maybe I’m not following your point though, I think it’s logical to be ok with a good break in the fairway even if the shot wasn’t picture perfect and hit an object to get there. I’m strictly talking shots that are in the fairway not ones that “should have” been elsewhere. If that was the case I’d be arguing that shots that run out of the fairway should be placed back in.
  20. Simple: it’s in the fairway so thank your lucky stars and get relief. The fairway is meant to be a place where you have an advantage when playing from it, regardless of how it got there. I used the example in my first post as it is the major argument for relief. I dont have a problem with getting good breaks in the fairway, no matter how the ball ended up there. I love this debate.
  21. Nope. I do not agree with this at all. There is no single argument that could convince me that golfers should not get relief. Even if this notion goes against the idea of golf as a challenge the fact of the matter is that the golfer executed the shot as intended and as required by the course and should therefore, get rewarded for it. That being, said, the article did make some good points, I am just firmly on the side of getting relief. Which is odd considering I am almost never in the fairway lololololololol
  22. Gotta say. I do play lots of rounds from the front tees with my HS golf team. It does tend to be very fun but it really shines a light on who has a distance advantage and who doesn't. That being said, I want to play the tees that best challenge me, not because I am trying to "see what the pros see" but because I want something that poses a leveled challenge for someone of my ability. Usually that equates to 6400-6500 yards. All that to say: more birdies (or opportunities) = more fun.
