  1. Shot Shape has been spot on for me, both indoors and outdoors. It's remarkably accurate outdoors from tracking a soft fade, to a big slice and even a low non intentional stinger...ha I hit a fade 98% of the time but occasionally I will come up with a draw, and it will get that one down as well. Very impressed. There were some early bugs with the tracer looking like it was landing on the tee box, vs down range but that was corrected many updates ago and is very good now. I put it next to Trackman a few times early on outdoors. it was identical in ball speed and within 1 or 2 yards of carry on most irons. With faster swinging clubs driver from my friends that swing over 110 the ball speed was still spot on but the carry distances began to show a bit more variance. But on my meager driver speed of 85 or so, it was within a couple yards carry.
  2. Thanks for the "late" season update. That is some impressive gain in the handicap. As I'm sure you well know, going from a 5 to a scratch is much harder than going from a 10 to 5 or a 20 to 15 etc. Some awesome scores in there. And while I did move on from my Paradyms, certainly not for performance reasons, but due to the incoming T Series, I can say my buddy who purchased the irons and FW at the same time I did, is still gaming his and dong quite well. He hit a 3 wood yesterday on a par 5 during a scramble round, that we knew had no chance of reaching the green 282 out according to the GPS. But we figured we'd be left with 60 yards or so. He absolutely nutted it and we got up there to find we were 30 yards out. We gave him a bit of a hard time for not being able to manage those last 30 yards....LOL
  3. OH i know you can play from a penalty area. But not this one, it is immediate DOA if you are even more than 2 inches in it. waist high fescue with a sharp 5 foot drop off. I'm surprised he was even to make a back swing. There is a dark part of me that feels like I should have walked over with him to make sure he actually found it from where he played it. But I didn't want to be "that guy" although I'm sure with the match literally on the line on that next shot, most would have. I still like to think golf is a game of honor and most still play it that way. Maybe I'm naive.
  4. No you're absolutely right about not changing strategy. This was the situation. The group in front of us was very very slow. We waited on the tee of this hole for at least 5 to 7 minutes, not exaggerating, possibly longer. The distance was not an ideal number for me. 165 to 170 would have been my 4 hybrid. 150 would have been a solid 6 iron. So Opted to go with a "easy" 5 iron and well as I said above, I went too easy...on both it and the pitch shot. Long is not good at all on this hole, but I was TOO short. As for what did I learn? I think to stick with what I'd do normally. One hole when he was OB off the tee, I tried to play TOO safe on a shot and didn't commit to a full swing and ended up in trouble off the tee myself. That's the big thing as mentioned above. Stick to what you'd normally do unless 1000% assurance of doing something different is the best option. i think overall my strategy wasn't bad, there were a couple swings on the tee box I'd like to have over. But I'm sure there are one or two he would as well. Playing to a couple shots of my handicap I can't be overly angry.
  5. Thanks for all the advice suggestions. We tied the match, so it went to a scorecard playoff, our No. 1 handicap hole where we both got a stroke was a par 5, I lost it off the tee (in the actual match) by pushing it into a wooded area, I was able to punch out but only advance it 40 yards or so, I ended up in a greenside bunker on my 3rd shot and left in the bunker---I never do that. So I had a 7 and he bogies. So he had that in his pocket knowing he only needed to tie the match. As the match itself, it was a good match pretty close all the way. I did get 2 up after 7 holes, he fought back took a 1 up lead, I won a couple holes back to back to take a 1 up lead with 2 holes left. I hit into trouble on our 17th hole off the tee had to layup short chipped long and two putted for bogey, he made a nice par. So we went inot the last hole a 160 yard par 3. He hit first and was near some trouble far right of the hole. So I'm thinking he possibly has a penalty drop coming or at worst a tough up and down. I figured I only needed bogey, I hit my shot a bit too conservative and left myself 10 yards short of the green. Same with my chip, it was over a ridge then downhill to a back pin. I left it on the top of the ridge about 25 feet for par. He said his ball was just outside the penalty area, I didn't walk over t check as I was on the far side of the green, maybe I should have but Iknow the guy and trusted him. He hit a great chip to about 5 feet. My 25 footer came up 2 feet short. If he missed, I would have a 2 footer to win the match outright. His putt caught left edge and dropped in. We both thought it might miss. In a show of good sportsmanship, he gave me the 2 footer so the match was tied and he had had the tie breaker. he could have made me putt it and hope I missed to win outright. But I hadn't missed a short one all day. So he gave me 8 strokes and beat me by 8 strokes 79 to 88. Funny how that works out. We both overall played pretty well but both had a few holes we'd like to have back. Match play is fun and definitely put a different perspective on the round.
  6. Thanks all good stuff. I know this guys group routinely gives 3-4 footers. Not today!! Maybe one or two early if it doesn’t matter like you say. But then he’ll be putting. Yeah the one bad hole is key. That is what keeps most of my scores in the 88-93 range vs &2-85 range. So got to let that for if/when it happens. It’s just one hole doesn’t affect any more than that.
  7. So I made the 32 man field for our playoffs that start tomorow. It’s a match play event. I am a 14 and playing a 6. So I’ll get strokes on 8 holes that he doesn’t. My plan is to just go play my game like I have done the last 4 weeks in which o played my way in. My thought is to not worry too much about those holes. Is that the correct approach. Or should I go a bit more conservative on the holes.where I stroke and force him to beat me. Or do I go all out trying to shoot the lowest score possible and strokes be dammed. Curious to hear everyone’s thoughts.
  8. So in a post a few up on this page I talked about playing 9 holes from the tips. Well yesterday I took the opportunity to play the other nine form the tips, so I could have it combine with the back 9 for an 18 hole score. The Tips played 3674, here are the results: 1-595 Par 5 Double Bogey 2-436 Par 4 Double Bogey 3-402 Par 4 Triple Bogey-really high nasty rough off the tee got me in trouble. 4-210 Par 3 Par 5-418 Par 4 Bogey-Par putt lipped out 6-187 par 3 Bogey 7-422 Par 4 Quad OB Tee shot and more rough trouble, and tucked pin. Big Boy hole! 8-622 Par 5 Bogey With the Par putt dying on the lip...This may be the best hole I've ever played here! 9-392 Par 4 Double Bogey So the good - Other than hole 7 I avoided getting in any severe trouble off the tee. Only 14 putts, that is mostly due to not reaching the green until my 3rd and sometimes 4th shot, so I wasn't faced with any extremely long putts. No 3 putts and 4 of 9 holes a 1 putt Stuck to my strategy of trying to leave my 3rd shot into the green at my favorite wedge distance of 85 yards. And the Bad- NO GIR, but that is to be expected playing from tees that are 700 to 800 yards (for 9 holes) longer than I normally play. Even on one of he par 3's I took a smarter play of intentionally laying up short instead of hitting driver or 3 wood and going into trouble if I missed the green. It paid off with getting up and down for a par on No. 4. There were actually couple of fairways that I didn't even reach, that required carries of well over 200 yards. AGain the tips aren't designed for seniors that carry the ball 200 to 210 yards Other Takeaways: It was fun--No I'm not going to make a habit of it. But it was fun to see the course from views and sight lines that I have never seen before. Hole 1 is a perfect example of that. That hole normally plays 465 from the gold tees where I play in the senior league from. If you hit a bit of a draw or even straight ball off the tee there, you can get a generous kick off a mound down into the fairway that will add at least 15 yards and up to 20 or 30 on a dry day to your drive. But from the blacks, a draw is risky, unless you are confident enough to carry it well over 220 yards to get over some deep gorse to even get to the fairway on that side Otherwise you are playing a fade down the left side, which as we know a fade will take a few yards off you drive. So it was really cool to see all the different shot lines. But I'll be glad to get back to the comfort of my gold tees in the league playoffs that start tomorrow!
  9. She will be playing the regular tournament tees. Just like Michelel Wie and Annika did when they played in PGA events.
  10. 1st round of league playoffs are tomorrow, so I'll have a report on that. And a new weapon in the bag as well!
  11. She just received a sponsors exemption to play. She is currently ranked 25th in the Rolex rankings. How do you think she'll do. https://www.espn.com/golf/story/_/id/38562664/lexi-thompson-play-pga-tour-shriners-children-open
  12. Congratulations To @chisag 1st Place and @The Clown of Death 2nd Place They outlasted several entries that didn't follow the rules of making a post in this thread with the two tie breaker questions. So reading is fundamental! The Clown of Death actually tied with @Sherlock with 47 points and both made entries, but The Clown of Death was closer in the Tie Breaker from the Pool of the winning score. He guessed 16 -12 missing the final score of 16.5- 11.5 by just half a point. He was a lot closer than the US Team was for sure Thanks to everyone who participated in these contests this year, it made the Majors and the Ryder Cup even more fun to follow. Kudos to Titleist and Vokey for their great sponsorship all year long by offering some fantastic prizes!
  13. Just a heads up to everyone. Hold off on. Congratulating anyone until I make the official announcement—most likely tomorow sometime. over 700 entries and over half of them didn’t follow the rules—no surprise there. Those rules are in place for a reason and it’s been well documented why in past contest. Just didn’t want any premature champagne popping

  15. Yeah I am see that for sure. Especially a course white I’m very familar with it and you get to a hole and go on autopilot. Ok I know this par 3 is a 6 iron or this par 4 is driver 9 ir etc. so the two par 3 were both playing over 200. The 1st one 210 yards tbe 2nd 220. foest one o hit driver and pushed it onto water on the right and still had to drop form 180 and hit hybrid into some deep gorse. Led to a quad. 2nd one 220, I hit a 7 iron 140 leaving 80 yards. My favored wedge distance. I hit it to 15 feet and the par putt died on the lip. so yeah shots youd never think of playing from spots you’ve never been. I’ve heard about the worst ball round and have always meant to try it. Will have to put that on the to do list.
  16. So fun time today. Course was closed to Tee Times after 1:00 due an event that we were having at 5:00. So with an empty front 9 our DOG asked if I wanted to go play 9. Why not. We get to the back tees Black he gets out and ropes a driving iron aboit 260 He heads back and ask if I’m going to play white or gold Regular or Senior I was feeling good about myself and sai il I’ll play here with you if it doesn’t hold you up He said We’ve got 4 hours to finish 9 I think we’re good Ha He asked me what my goal or objective would be. I ran some holes through my head and said to best double bogey so 54 would be great. But realistically to break 60. He said good goal! I won’t do play by play but I shot 58 and that was with two horrible holes a 9 on a par 4 and 8 on a par 3. Our 2md and 3rd holes before I changed my strategy. if I had played those the way I played the other 7 I probably shoot 52 or 53 I don’t hit the ball well off the tee at all but made some really good “layup” shots followed by some tight wedges He shot 39 with a double and bsd bogey on the last hole. it was fun and I want to try it again under similar circumstances now that o know how to approach some holes funny thing my handicap actually dropped from 18.3 to 17.6 Lol i
  17. Just realized I hadn't updated this in a while. So, bear with me here goes. I think my game has come along very nicely since the original post. I can attribute it to three things. Not necessarily in this order More practice, which isn't saying a lot. Not saying I'm spending 2 hours 3 times a week on the range, but usually at least one session a week on the range, and one on course practice session where I'll hit actual wedges and shots into a green to get a real-life result. Taking lesson(s) from an instructor I seem to hit it off with the first time and I experienced some initial improvement right off the bat. Still a few key things to work on, but such great help after only one lesson. New Clubs..The new T350 are legit and a couple key TSR woods FW and Hybrid from a Team Titleist fitting have helped the top end of my bag. So, the good news is the game is as good as it has ever been right now, and the bad news it happened a bit too late in my league season to make the playoffs. Top 32 players get in, three weeks ago I was sitting at 51 thinking I had no shot. Today was the last regular season round, and i ended up tied at 34th. Just 3 mor points which would have meant shooting 2 shots lower last week and this or 4 shots either week and I'd likely be in. More good news is today I shot 89 and was upset. It's my 4th straight round in the 80's and my handicap has dropped from a high of 20.3 earlier this summer probably when I started this thread, to 18.3 right now. I know we always talk about what could have bene, but today's round was really weird. Only hit 8 fairways, which is low for me, but other than 1 hole they weren't bad misses, all were pretty playable out of light or medium rough. But I only hit two greens. That is horrible, and of the two I birdied one and the other just decided to turn left at the lip at the 11th hour, people were already saying nice putt just before it turned.... the kiss of death. Other thing about today, 28 putts. I rolled the ball great, but that was also the result of missing so many greens than I was able to chip close or in one case chipped in. So all in all, feeling good about the progress I made since I started this thread. I appreciate everyone's comments, suggestions and encouragements along the way. I'm not done yet, more lessons and more practice will happen while we still have a good 4 to 5 weeks of good golf weather. Then a solid off-season plan to stay in "golf" shape. As Eli or Mike would say...Lets Go Let' Go!
