  1. It was a St. Patrick’s day sale valid only to the 17th. Sorry!
  2. Just made my first Corona impulse buy: a Skytrak system for the garage. I've been eyeing one up for a few months (or more accurately every single Wisconsin winter) but being forced to work from home for the next 3+ weeks and Skytrak having a $300 off sale I finally pulled the trigger. Starting out I'll just have a basic mat and net to hit into. Before next winter starts I plan on added insulation and drywall to the garage, having a heater installed, setting up an impact enclosure, and getting a projector for the full sim experience. I may never leave my house again!
  3. Budgetgolf.com has 17% off most items with discount code Lucky17. They also have the absolutely fantastic Cobra F9 driver marked down to $250. I'm no math major but using the discount code gets you one of the best drivers from last year for only $207.50 before taxes. That's a no brainer for anyone looking to upgrade an older driver or someone that wants to see what Cobra is all about.
  4. Going stir crazy waiting for spring to come to Wisconsin so I can get started on this challenge. On the bright side I had two birdies playing the Skytrak E6 version of Bay Hill today. My 79 would have put me one shot ahead of Jazz Janewattananond’s 1st round. Look out Jazz! Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  5. Hate it when life gets in the way of golf. Hope you have a speedy recovery after your surgery!
  6. Added my name to the Google Docs spreadsheet though I won't be able to start until April unless we get a very early spring. My friends and I have been doing this the last few years. It's a fun little side challenge to keep things interesting throughout the entire season. Last year I birdied 16 of the 18 holes on my home course. The two that I failed to birdie were: Hole 7: a 404 yard par 4 that doglegs left. Tee shot on this one is key. There are bunkers on the left corner that force you to hit 260+ carry. Water lines the right hand side so if you push or slice your shot you'll end up wet. Surrounding the green is a large bunker short right and water on the right that loops behind the green. The green itself is elevated and slopes back to front. It really takes two very good shots and leaving yourself below the hole to have a legitimate chance at birdie. Hole 18: a 347 yard par 4 straight uphill. Bunkers on the left and OB right make this a tight driving hole. It's a pretty steep climb the entire way so the 347 yards plays much longer (at least two clubs). The green is usually the fastest of any on the course as it is elevated and has many large trees lining the back that have roots sucking the daily irrigation. I birdied these two holes a combined 5 times in 2018 so hopefully they won't be an issue in 2020.
  7. I have a Fitbit I wear on a daily basis but my nicer Tissot watch hardly ever gets worn anymore. Unfortunately a watch that only shows the date/time seems pretty lacking these days. For golf I’d much rather have an Arccos Link than mess with a watch like the Shot Scope. Maybe the smaller V3 will change that but I’m just not much of a watch while golfing person. 8. Went through a driver fitting at Club Champion earlier today. I love my Callaway Epic Flash Sub Zero head but was pretty iffy on the stock Hzrdus Smoke shaft. After 60+ minutes of trying different shafts the clear winner was a Fujikura Ventus Blue 6X. Carry went up about 10 yards but more importantly the dispersion was much tighter. I knew the shaft would be expensive and Club Champion did not dissapoint. They wanted $415 for the shaft, $15 for the grip, and another $35 to install the standard Callaway adapter. Total of $465 but that did include shaft PUREing. I called the head pro at my local course and he can get the shaft with adapter and grip already installed for $330 (plus I get to use up my shop credit). Ding ding ding we have a winner!
  9. Just re-upped for another year. Love the site and all the interaction on the forum. Keep up the great work!
  10. The driver and irons are gone but I still have the Cobra 3 wood, hybrids, and wedges in my bag. They are all top notch.
  11. Well they just made it official; the 2019 Cross Country Turkey Shoot-Out has been cancelled. Apparently they didn't want to open up the course when there is 6" of snow on the ground. What a bunch of snowflakes (pun intended). Unfortunately it looks like my outdoor golf season is finished. Thankfully there have been quite a few indoor simulators to open recently so there will be plenty of options to swing over the winter.
  12. Arccos responded back saying they would have a hard time adding in our Cross Country tee box since it does not have an official course rating or slope. Oh well. In other news 4-6" of snow is forecasted for today. It's the largest snowfall ever recorded in the Milwaukee area for Halloween (previous record was 0.4" so this is very unusual even for us). So far we've had about 2-3" fall. Anybody have any yellow golf balls I can borrow for my round on Saturday?
  13. I sent an email to starter@arccosgolf.com to see if they could do a special tee selection for the 9 hole cross country event. I'll let you all know if they can do anything for the event.
  14. I stopped using my Arccos shortly after our contest ended. It was nice to finally play a few rounds without having to look at my phone every hole to make sure shots were captured and the pin was moved to the correct location. I have an Arccos Link on pre-order so I'll probably wait to pick it up again until that gets shipped next spring. I probably only have one round left this year. Recently the high temps have been stuck in the 40's with frost on the ground in the early mornings. My last round of the year is scheduled for Nov 2nd in a Cross Country Shoot-Out. They turn the 18 hole golf course into a 9 hole, 6000 yard par 52 course. It's a little strange cutting across holes to play different greens but it was a ton of fun last year. Hopefully it doesn't snow that day.
  15. Hit 40 years old today. For my birthday I played 27 holes and took a Callaway Epic Flash Sub Zero demo driver out on the course. It may be the Crown Royal talking but I think I fell in love today. The Cobra F9 is great but this seemed like it was on a different level. Couple of drives over 300 and no crappy slices towards trouble. I lost one ball but that was because I expected my usual fade only to see a power draw off the tee.
  16. That looks like a pretty sweet prize pack. Too bad you play lefty or I would have made an offer on your Ping driver. Seems like I've had a lot of penalties off the tee recently and the Arccos data backs that up. Driving handicap is by far the worst aspect of my game. My first step in trying to right the ship is to try a different shaft in the F9 driver. When I was swinging all out on the launch monitor the Atmos 7X shaft was a great fit. On the course when I swing a little more controlled it seems too wild. I have an order placed for a Project X EvenFlow Blue stiff flex shaft that should come in later this week. If that doesn't work I may have to go back to the old reliable Epic Sub Zero. Here are the stats for my Epic Sub Zero at the beginning of the year. It was shorter, but definitely more accurate. And here is the F9. Smart distance up 13 yards but accuracy down 15.7%.
  17. The Euro license plate trophy arrived in the mail today. It will definitely find a prominent place to be displayed in my home.
  18. Are the driver shafts, lengths, or lofts drastically different?
  19. I may have found the best of both worlds with all Cobra clubs except 5-PW Mizuno 919 Forged. Hole 6 tonight: 1st shot: Cobra F9 driver 280 yards onto the right side of the fairway 2nd shot: Mizuno 919 Forged 5-iron 205 yards just over the green 3rd shot: Cobra KING Black Wedge hole-out for eagle. I have a very selective memory so I'm going to ignore the double bogey that immediately followed the eagle.
  20. Look what arrived yesterday! I almost bought the exact same pair of shoes about a month ago but held off in the hopes that I would finish near the top and get lucky with the Cobra/Puma prize. All of these look fantastic; they really 'blue' my mind with the choices. Admit it, that was a pretty good dad pun.
  21. Hey @Nunfa0 how did you like your shorter Tour issue F9 driver? Do you ever wish you had gone with the standard 45.5" length? I've been struggling with accuracy off the tee and I'm debating if I want to cut down my F9 an inch and order the heavier Cobra weights to keep the swing weight the same.
  22. Today's final round of my club championship was cancelled. We started off with a 2 hour rain delay but they decided to make it a one day tournament after heavy rains made the course unplayable. My score of 76 stands as the 2nd best out of 30 people. Unfortunately the one person with a better score was also in my flight. I should be happy with 2nd but I can't help but feel dissapointed that I didn't even have the chance to try and catch the leader. Oh well.
  23. Round one of my club championship is in the books. I had two penalty shots off the tee and made zero birdies during the round. Everything else was nearly perfect and I ended up with a 76 to put me in 2nd place; one shot behind the leader. The final round is tomorrow morning. I'll check back in with the good news or the tears of sorrow sometime after the round.
  24. I tried Cobra Forged Tec, Callaway Apex/Apex Pro, TaylorMade P760, Ping i500 & i210, Srixon Z585/785, Titleist AP2, Mizuno 919 Forged, Hot Metal, and Hot Metal Pro. Some of those I only hit three shots with and immediately set them down because I knew they were not right for me. In the end the top 3 were: Mizuno JPX 919 Forged Callaway Apex Pro Cobra Forged Tec The Mizuno's weren't the longest of the bunch but the combination of shot dispersion, forgiveness, spin, launch angle, peak height, etc made it a clear winner. The winning shaft was the KBS Tour stiff.
  25. It is still very early with them but the main two so far are better distance control and accuracy. They are a few yards shorter than the F9's but I haven't experienced any rockets that go much farther than I wanted like the Cobras. They're also quite a bit nicer to look at with the thinner topline and cavity back that you can't see standing over the ball. It's a combination of performance in a tighter dispersion/shot area plus personal preference in the smaller club head.
