  1. Would be curious next time describing 'other' putters bought. Fully custom, personalised, off the shelf, price point. However else you could group the type.
  2. Also keep an eye out on what type of grooves. Golfworks, for example, have a pre and post 2010 groove sharpener.
  3. Snuck out to the local 9 hole course (Not my home club) that is in town after school. Half a dozen Year 7 students taking a shortcut through the golf course on the way to footy training. They recognise me and start yelling out at me to hit the ball. 100m out, stick the ball 5m past the flag, spits out of the green (I could say spins back, but more likely it didn't) and rolls to one foot in front of the pin.
  4. wouldn't you jsut love to see Bryson (Or any PGA player) leave the metalwoods at home and just take a full bag of irons to play one week, really force him to work on his irons.
  5. Cheers. Just joined. Still waiting for the V series to fully release in Australia to get the midlock.
  6. I use them. Bought a new wedge, played it before I changed the grip... its inconceivable not for me to play without the thicker grips! Feels like so much more control.
  7. Thats interesting. I found that I hit it just as far (Or further) and straighter. Would you describe yourself as a high spin player? What was the launch like compared to e12 soft?
  8. I think my eyes are starting to fail. My putting has been abysmal when it comes to the actual act of putting. I no longer know where to look. The ball, a dimple on the ball, a speck in front of the ball, the putter, a specific part of the putter. Really messing with the direction of the putts. Distance control is still good (Timing is still solid in the act of putting, I regret the timing being to the beat of the Bee Gee's Staying Alive now, but it works and it's easy to recall the pace). Now the putter head is wobbling like crazy (Even with an armlock). I have bought (Because it was cheap) a Cleveland 10.5 Frontline bladed mallet and painted the main section white to help. It seems to have helped a bit (Easier to focus on), so I've just (poorly) painted a line on it to hopefully focus on a contrast. What are others experiences with being able to focus on the clubhead well? I was thinking maybe a black dot would have been better instead of a line. (Funnily enough, it doesn't seem to have affect my full swing... Possibly because I never watch the ball in the first place!)
  9. Eh... Just increase your mass to compensate. I suggest the beer diet. Spirit diet if you want extreme games.
  10. Is it wrong I can't remember that the regular versions don't look like that?!
  11. Why not? Cobra have been doing this for years with their OL for the different flight characteristics.
  12. Scorecard this week, at the Phillip Island Golf Club, Cowes, Victoria, Australia. Feel sorry for my opponent this week. Been working on Bryson's version of the stack and tilt the last few weeks, have become quite relaxed with it (Stopped trying to spank it) and started hitting it well. Really only one mishit. Really tough to win in handicap sections sometimes when the opponent has a blinder. I played 8 better than my handicap through 10. Outdriving him with a 5-iron, putting and chipping really well. Birdie on the 10th really rubbed it in. Bought him a beer afterwards for his trouble.
  13. Oh my goodness. Salivate over them. Shot 7 over the card through 10 in my matchplay game with them. Poor opponent lost 9/8. Not fair from a 28 handicap that day!
  14. Option would be to get a new head made for you. I had Kari make one for me to my specs for $800 Australian. He had nothing to work off, but managed to make it work, no problem. lajosi.com.au
  15. End of March in AU. That said, I ordered some from the US and they're sitting at home now!
  16. I'm curious, does anyone know of any studies on the face technologies of these (And similar) putters? We could compare the putter tests, but specifically tying the face technologies/ deliberately hitting offline/ off centre etc.
  17. Installed it and tried it yesterday, absolutely a joke to its claims. Nowhere near enough bulge to get near my wrist without massive forward shaft lean. So the wrists are still in the game. I would keep it if I liked that grip size because the bulge does fit nicely in the crease of the palm. So a rename to a palmlock would be my suggestion.
  18. I ended up mucking about with a Callaway Magma. I was quite interested in how it performed against a Supersoft. I wonder if the way around all the IP but to still maintain the one set of rules, reduce distance... increase the minimum ball size. Easier to hit, but increased size therefore increase wind resistance so cant hit as far, and increase spin (???), but Bridgestone can still use all their patents.
  19. To act as the negative, Lou's data (75% of second shots on Par 4s 174y or less) means Bryson is hitting PW or less (Looking at stock distances image from Golf TV . Par 4s tend to be at least half of golf holes. Are we happy with the wedge in on 7 holes, plus maybe the par 3s? So we are looking at a long iron on maybe 5 holes. From that perspective, are we happy with those numbers? Or is that the point where 'golf becomes boring'?
  20. I'm surprised that it wasn't mentioned about all the legal... Legal-ness that would go down if this happened, particularly in the lawsuit happy America. Ball manufacturers would have a case. Who would want to even manufacture the 'pro' ball when no-one else would want to buy it. Will the PGA Tour order their own ball from Taiwan? Tour staff for ball companies would have a case for loss of income, patents etc. DeShamBo and McIllroy would have a case because it affects them more than it does Mr 275y Average (Total yards lost). I would still think that the best approach (If we don't just 'grow the grass,' which is the easiest solution to even try as mentioned) would be to decrease the maximum driver head size. I really hate the idea of limiting technology. I'm sure there's three or four contradictions in what I said that could be picked up on! I'm thinking of one of my more local courses... Par 68, 6 par 3's. Great track. Courses already turn Par 5s into 4s, why not 4s into threes? Or add a Par 3, build a new tee for the tournament and have a 700m par 5. Everyone still has to play the same course.
  21. Having this argument with my dad. Love to hear other thoughts. Our course has reopened, first game Saturday. I am intending to only being my irons, which will be a 3i To LW one length. No driver, no fairways, which I normally play. Reason being, even though I've been practicing some, online lessons, two swing modifications, I'm going to be rusty as an old windmill. With irons, the damage won't be as bad, but neither will I be able to get anywhere near to all the hole in 2 like I would normally. So expecting not a great score, and will record a high handicap round. Because I'm handicapping myself with choice of clubs, am I cheating the handicap system? (Because playing on Saturday, have to enter the comp, or no game, so can't argue don't enter the comp and can't play). Edit: We're not worried per say, but if there was a club championship coming up and it looked like my handicap may go out, would your opinion be any different? Not that the club championship at any serious level should be anything but gross stroke...
  22. I'm curious if the smallest standard deviations from the ball test last year, especially with the compression and shot area, are also reflective of quality this year.
  23. Are you saying the reigning Master Champion is a has been?
  24. I was happy with the service and products with https://www.clubstamping.com/, only problem is I've found it super hard to actually make a consistent stamp. I'm actually thinking next time I want something stamped, I'll be getting an expert to do it. The textas they supply are very good. I've used them to paint my clubs and the fill is still there on the sole of my putter and rear of wedges, which I figure are the hardest wearing parts where I've painted.
