  1. Has anyone recent purchased or have experience with golfdiscount.com? I'm not sure I'm questioning if they are legit or not, but this seems too good to be true. I've been shopping around for a set of players irons, or something that is more of a players iron than my Apex CF16's. The Srixon Z765's have been on my list while searching. I've been checking used inventory all over the internet, and haven't hardly seen a used set for the price I just came across on golfdiscount.com. I've had my fair share of "Seems too good to be true" moments. Found a set of Z765'with the shaft I want for 500 bucks. I haven't pulled the trigger yet.

    Sub70 golf

Got a 50 degree wedge on order earlier today. Haven't been happy with my current gap wedge and have been looking around. Loved my previous 52 degree Mizuno T7, that was replaced by a Vokey SM7, but the Vokey just never felt quite as good. Excited to see if Sub 70 can claim one of my favorite spots in the bag.
  3. I forgot to follow up, by order arrived last week. Haven't used them in play yet, but as far as fit goes, they are just about perfect fit. It's that kind of fit that almost feels snug at first, but as soon as you open and close your fist it flexes to the perfect fit.
  4. Thanks, I was curious but hadn't really seen much big name OEM out there unless used and on Ebay. With so many no charge upgrades offered with Mizuno between grips and shafts, it doesn't seem like there's going to be much cost advantage. That and my lack of club building experience is making me shy away from the idea. I'm sure I could assemble them, but I'd hate for any learning curve to show on a brand new Mizuno head.
  5. Who out there has assembled their own irons? I'm looking to see if there is any reasonable cost savings to buy shafts and heads separate but am not having much luck finding iron heads readily available. Anyone have a go to source for purchasing iron heads? Im looking for new Mizuno heads, specifically MP 18 SC's or JPX 919 tours, 4 through PW.
  6. Golf equipment doesn't have to break the bank. Budget conscious golfers all over look to previous model years at good discounts. Look hard enough and you can find plenty of quality product that everyone else is selling back a year later for even cheaper prices. I find myself looking more now than ever before at the direct to consumer companies, ie the revamped Ben Hogan, Sub70, Maltby's of the world. I myself am in a position where I'd like to look at a cleaner, more traditional looking iron than my Apex CF 16's. Sub70 is high on my radar. Granted, this is much more of a want than a need as the Apex irons are pretty well fit for me and have a ton of life in them still, but looking at a set that's half the price of a pretty new blade from Mizuno or Srixon has me curious.
  7. I agree with this sentiment as well. The shaft ends up being a timing mechanism to return the club face to the desired impact location. A good fitter will go through head choices first to help get the desired launch conditions. They'll look at what the different heads can do for launch, spin, and ball speed and then look to the shaft for the fine tuning. Several videos out there from TXG on YouTube that really explain this well.
  8. I got a four pack on the way. How did they compare size wise to the Callaway glove that costco used to offer? I liked the Callaway that they had and a medium fit perfect. Sent from my LM-Q710.FG using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  9. I also just heard of this. One of my good golf buddies just signed up for it. I'll chime in with his experience soon. He just signed up and got an M6 delivered for his first one. I'm not too sure on the details though. My buddy said you can cancel at any time. Rough idea is you pay a $30 per month subscription and you pick a new driver every three months. How does shaft selection work? What if you immediately dont like your choice for that three month period? Personally I would think its not for everyone. I've found a driver and shaft combo that I'm really happy with so this would be useless to me. What happens when you finally get comfortable with a driver and then have to send it back? For $360 a year, you'd be lucky to test two through the playing season in Michigan. Maybe it would be good for on course testing for someone looking to take their time testing and then commit when ghe next model year comes out at reduced pricing. 10. Really cool looking setup there. I've had interest for a while now in putting together a "vintage" bag. I think i have a good start with some free Acushnet Model 100 Pro's. From the mid 70s that I found in the rafters of mybgarage when we bought our current home. Still need to add a couple persimmons and an old putter though and wouldnt mind trying an even older set of irons. Sent from my LM-Q710.FG using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  11. I've used the grint for a few years now and like it. I've used both the free and paid versions. I didnt end up using enough of the features in the paid version so I went back to the free version. Handicap index, FIR, GIR, penalties, and putting is what I like the most. 12. I used to have a counter weighted Superstroke Flatso on my Scotty GoLo 5. Went for a putter fitting at Club Champion and ended up going with an Odyssey 7S Black with a non-counter weight grip. Had a good conversation with my fitter about counterweight grips lacking feel on distance putts. After a season without the counterweight, I ended up agreeing. By adding weight to the hands, I lost the feel of the putter head, making the lengthy putts much more inconsistent. Sent from my LM-Q710.FG using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  13. Picked up a gently used 816 H2 21 degree hybrid with a speeder hb 9.8 tour spec stiff shaft on it. Going to be my 4 iron replacement/fairway finder. Got it off the used rack at golf galaxy for a good price.
  14. I use my 3 wood once or twice a round. My home course doesn't have much length to it, so no need to go off the deck but I will use it on a few holes regularly to put me at my preferred approach distances. I use my 5 wood much more frequently.
  15. Wasn't intentional, both of these started 21 hours ago and I hadn't seen anything up before I posted mine. I did a quick search before I posted mine and thought I was safe
  16. Heads up for anyone that plays the Kirkland Signature golf ball. They're available online right now, limit two per membership. I played these all last season and loved them. Can't beat four dozen for 60 bucks.
  17. I just switched out from standard MCC's to Midsized+4's. I have issues with grip pressure in the tip of my left hand pinky, due to breaking it a few too many times. I'll be swinging after work, so we'll see how it goes. I've always felt like had too tight of a grip with my standards, but was hesitant to switch to a larger grip because my miss is a big fade already
  18. When I started golfing, I played with the ten finger grip, or baseball grip as I knew it. After a few years, I started using an overlap, then to an interlock grip. I've played an interlock for years now, until I suffered a hand injury playing baseball (no pun here). Well, after a shattered left hand pinky, my grip strength definitely wasn't the same, and I recently re-broke the same damn pinky. We're three months off the latest break and I'm back to swinging from, I just still don't have the grip on that very important pinky for a right handed golfer. I decided to give the old ten finger grip another go just the other day, and found it to be much more stable and powerful, and surprisingly controllable. I honestly decided to give it a try again because of this thread.
  19. Callaway Rogue Sub Zero. Ordered it with the HZRDUS Yellow 6.0 in 75 grams. Was pleasantly surprised when it showed up with the handcrafted version of the shaft
  20. Just scooped up an 18* Callaway apex utility with a project x hybrid shaft in like new condition from Callaway preowned. I've been looking for an 18* for some time now but wanted to stay away from the 200 price range. Got this one for 150
  21. That mistake was years ago and have since been through a thorough fitting. Very different experience goi bb g through an in depth fitting with an experienced professional vs working with someone on a store floor.
  22. I may have misused my engine analogy. I think what I was trying to get at was more of how important a properly fit shaft is in the combination and I will say that yes, I will most definitely be going for a fitting. The clarification on made for shafts helps a lot. What I really want to avoid is purchasing a new driver for top dollar and not getting the shaft that works best for me, which is what brought me to my questions of the stock offerings, and the answers that have been given where exactly what I was looking for. I made a mistake of working with a club tech at a local shop without any real in depth fitting and wasted good dollars on a driver and shaft combination that was not a good fit for me.
  23. I'll have to check it out. Currently swinging with a Kuro Kagi Tini 60 gram in my M1. Haven't swung the HZRDUS Yellow. Any thoughts on how different they would be?
  24. Good to know. I still need to test the new driver with a shaft other than the Even Flow Blue, it felt a tad spinny for me. 105 to 108 swing speed with a high fade as my big miss. It felt like I was losing a bit of the stability I wanted when I would try to get after it. Normally I have a slightly quick transition and struggled to smooth out my transition for the Even Flow Blue Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
