out of interest how did they 'find' the head first? Surely a light whippy regular flex on a guy swinging 110MPH with a fast transition will be a disaster on ANY head? Yes that's an extreme but surely the shaft plays a big part? Just asking for genuine interest. I have friends who cant even swing my S flex without topping or skittering it along the ground as they play heavy X flex. Overall I think both are important and its finding the right shaft/head combo that suits a persons swing transition and speed.

Titleist came to my club 2 days ago, so took the opportunity to talk in detail to the fitter on what I feel and how I want a shaft to feel, as opposed to him just fitting me for 'X' shaft based on my SS. He listened then put me in a heavy boardy shaft to 'see what I can do' lol Numbers were decent but I had no idea where the head was during the swing. I persuaded him to try other shafts based on what I was looking for. He insisted the shaft doesnt make as much difference to the numbers as the head does, I questioned that but he insisted. He also said my SS was within 1mph for all the shafts regardless of weight and flex. Anyway, he eventually said he doesnt think the shaft I'm looking for exists Best numbers we got was from the Tensei shaft which according to Trackman was giving me an average 25yds extra carry over my norm. So I'll try it on the course for a few days and if it stays like that I'd be foolish not to buy.

for fun and the challenge......... Caveat is though if I am on a PB round and in a comp I will probably lay up and not tackle hero shots. Any other time wheres the fun and challenge in laying up. "Who dares wins"

..I've only had a small percentage of great shots from bad shots, but they were so good I remember them in detail, but I grew up watching Seve, say no more! Yes, the chances of not hitting a great shot are high, very high, but fun when it works. As a teen I grew up playing 'cross country golf' (anyone else do that?) brings out creativity and gallons of fun.

shaky hands and wind dont make good bedfellows when I'm lasering 180 yds away I think reflectors would be great but I havent seen any course here with them, so far.

"Never follow a bad shot with another bad shot" Faldo, Nicklaus Trevino Watson etc etc Best course advice I've heard and I repeat it to any high cappers trying the hero shot around the trees. If it's in my arsenal, I go for it! what is there to lose, we dont play for a living!

I would go to a fitter or club pro and get the putter head alignment checked otherwise you could be tweaking it all day. I had a fang #7 that sat closed, couldn't use it for life or money. I also have a vicino spider that sits 1-2 degrees open, it had a new grip put on so it could be that, but best check with a professional.

That seems fair. How many cars have you bought without a test drive first! a trial even for a week, or a few videos might get more takers, however, that's just good old basic business marketing. I'm sure they have a reason for doing it their way. -
Why are we losing long term avid players ?

I have a friend, with a lower handicap than mine, text me yesterday saying he played so badly at the weekend he's seriously considering stopping, giving up an expensive membership and just playing a few fun rounds each summer on public courses. We've all been there -

Yes C Groove Tracy II Putter- anyone used one?

It's arrived and I managed to get to the practice putting green for 15 mins this afternoon. Unbelievably I holed the first 3 putts in a row, and all were over 20 feet! "WTF is going on here" I thought It's heavier than I've ever played, the ball just rolls off the sweetspot, putts I thought were going to be short (they were with the spider insert) just rolled out beautifully. Maybe theres a lot in this 'C' groove technology. Continued to hole about 1 in four putts over 25 feet, all different pins around the green. Very pleased with this purchase and for about $80 I'm hoping it earns me some cash, or at the very least cuts down the average 36 putts a round. Comp on Saturday so lets see how it behaves under pressure -

Tried that- even worse! If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always had! No harm in experimenting till I find the right magic wand combo! average 36 putts a round just wont cut it! -

went to an old ping anser 2 I had, then back to my old Spider, then the Tommy Arnott and now this. Technically it's only the 2nd putter I've bought in 5 years, the other 2 I already had. I do talk putters a lot so it does feel like I've had loads -

with an hour to go I was 100% convinced USA would retain the Cup with 14 points- what a turnaround and very exciting. Some great golf under extreme pressure and a fantastic advert for womens golf

Read a lot and it looks a really nice putter with a slant neck. The 'C' grooves seem to work well apparently. Obviously not made anymore but anyone got one, or used one? Pro's and cons would help before I source one over here.

Lovely day here today, chilly but hardly any wind. Charley Hull just chunked her tee shot at the par 3 6th 100yds straight into the swamp. I note they are off the 2nd most forward tees unfortunately but maybe a decision based on the wet weather earlier in the week. Greens are looking fantastic despite all the rain. Shaping up nicely with 2 matches up and 2 matches down
