  1. I did that with my old Titleist 910D3, went to a 44.5" and results initially were very good, good point and thanks for reminding me.
  2. Just to add what @Peaksy68 said, I find with my timezone I'm usually up before the US and when I see a full page of Chinese spam (other Spam is available) I just report 1 as I know one of the mods has a Klaxon horn at his bedside when a report gets filed It's not an easy job moderating forums these days with all the spam so thanks guys for keeping us clean and more importantly, moving.
  3. Thanks @BIG STU I also had the Proforce V2 for awhile. Great when everything 'clicked' but that was rare. So what difference have you seen and felt moving from S to R in Driver? mind if I ask your SS
  4. sorry, but I respectfully disagree. The driver is the hardest club in the bag to hit. Longest shaft and lowest loft. Driving irons these days are like mini hybrids and are certainly not aimed only at low h/caps with high swing speeds. The shorter shaft length combined with higher loft makes them a very good choice for anyone struggling with the driver. The caveat is you will certainly lose distance over a well struck driver, but if you are 25 yards further back but in the fairway its a lot better than 25 yards further into the trees.
  5. Thanks @cnosil for taking the time and detailed reply, much appreciated. Could you explain what you mean in the bolded text above please? Also, I am willing to change anything to get the enjoyment back into putting.
  6. My SS is about 100mph for Driver. I play S in irons and fairway/hybrid but struggle with the Driver as I like a light combo and always feel I have to heave the driver into place. I'd like to experiment with a regular shaft for feel as to where the clubhead is during the swing. Anyone on here who plays S in irons but R in Driver?
  7. I could putt like BK then I asked about the metal technology he attached to the shaft affecting swing etc but he said it makes no difference. Just remembered that after about 5 putters and 25 hits, I said I was hitting the green grass picture pretty consistently, and he said you're supposed to be aiming at the black line about 6 inches left of that
  8. yup, I have tried loads of different grip sizes and grip styles, my basic mechanics dont change even though some grips felt so good I was exuding confidence - until it pulled left, yet again
  9. Thats exactly what I was hoping for (with maybe some slight set up tweaks etc) but he appeared to affirm that SAM cant help me get a good putter set up match.............maybe he was just tired, or couldn't be bothered.
  10. I assumed they were pretty similar, I mean the path of the putter arc, which I assume also means the putter head rotation as the face opens and closes within the arc. He wanted heavier toe to help the face square up more at impact. No report given or offered. Ideally I'd like to have a putter set up that doesnt need me to radically change my stroke, but it looks like I'll need to do that I think. Doesnt Brooks Koepka line up at the toe then strike at the sweetspot? maybe I should line up at the heel....lol square narrow stance, light grip, rock shoulders, try and stay very head still till after the strike.
  11. agreed re 2019 Prov1- much better agreed on Z star XV, too hard and clicky for me but the ordinary Z star last year and this year are exceptional, lower spin on Driver and higher spin round the greens, feels soft but not chromesoft soft if you get me? Plus after MGS exposing the chromesoft quality issues (I experienced it myself with 1 chromesoft that acted like a range ball) I havent tried them again. The ordinary Z star gets MGS 'exceptional' rating alongside Prov1 and Bridgeston.
  12. SAM system Good advice, I did, see results at the bottom Good advice, I did, results below I would agree, clearly showed all my faults and the one thing I do very well. So, had it today, I told the fitter politely that I've never had a putter fitting before and if it's ok with him I would like to be guided by him and the SAM results to find the best putter set up for my stroke. No problem he said, and off we started..... He set up and calibrated my current mallet to the machine and I hit 5 putts. Slight arc backswing and strong arc throughswing, putter sits open at address and open at impact, strike launch too high and strike pattern halfway between the sweetspot and the toe. He then kept trying other mallets with slight toe hang and 34" length, he said I sit the putter 2 degrees up so if we could get down by 1 or 2 degrees that will bring the strikes nearer the sweetspot. Results for the next 4 mallets of varying length and toe hang were....Slight arc backswing and strong arc throughswing, putter sits open at address and open at impact, strike launch too high and strike pattern halfway between the sweetspot and the toe. My tempo and rhythm were excellent and bang on optimum. He was giving up then with little chat except some drills I should work on to improve path. I asked about blades with strong arc and 33" as I'm not a mallet fan, he said ok lets try that (reluctantly). Tried Ping, Scotty and Odyssey mid to strong arc, results were.........(you guessed it) Slight arc backswing and strong arc throughswing, putter sits open at address and open at impact, strike launch too high and strike pattern halfway between the sweetspot and the toe. The caveat with the last 2 strong arc blades is the launch was down to 2.6* and the strikes were a very tight group, but still halfway beteen the sweetspot and the toe. I tried to engage him in conversation about what the solution should be putter wise but he seemed more interested in saying try drills and come back in a few weeks. On the plus side he didnt try and sell me an expensive putter, on the negative side I'm no further forward apart from knowing my consistent stroke path.
  13. interesting, as I have always liked Titleist since I was a boy, so I bought the 718 ap2's last year and after 3 weeks I had to take them back saying "they felt like big lumps of hard metal on a stick".............I was gutted as they are forged but something just wasn't right. Retailer had a 30 day exchange programme in place (thank goodness) so tried the Mizuno MP18SC and they felt and sounded the way I had expected the forged Titleist to sound, so I agreed the exchange within 5 minutes. They still feel and sound soft, but it's a Mizuno. I actually asked if Titleist had changed their manufacturer or metal they use as they were so far from the feeling a forged club would/should give.
  14. how much were they wanting you to pay for 'volunteering' your valuable time?
  15. Never had one but after analysing my matchplay loss yesterday there was 3 holes lost to 3 putting, 2 halved with me missing 3 foot putts and I came up very short on many putts. So I think I probably need a lesson, but also a putter fitting to determine what suits my stroke and tempo/stance/lie etc etc Anyone had one and can advise things I should see and things to avoid?
  16. you can't lose what you never owned in the first place A good golf swing is just borrowed
  17. Gutted! lost my semi final of the Club singles today after cruising along playing nicely. 3 up after 9 then just gave away 5 holes with loose approaches. I had the game 'won' in my head after 9! schoolboy error. Looks like I dont have that killer instinct. I hate this game I think I played trying 'not to lose' instead of 'trying to win'.
  18. If you don't mind me asking @Shankster who is teaching you this new swing? youtube/instructor/friend or bits gleaned from reading and self teaching? Just curious.
  19. as it's just a teaser advert can you elude to any more info? Are you involved at all or used the programme? Interesting first post, but best if you tell us a bit more about yourself and join in all the great chat. We are a very friendly bunch here and welcome new members.
  20. Fantastic score, but the other fella must have been shooting the lights out? What did he shoot to beat a scratch 66 3&2?
  21. don't say it too loud or the Golf Gods might hear you
  22. decent score...(for me) How do you record your FIR and GIR, putts etc? just on the card or thru arccos?
