  1. I believe that! I'd be brushing those suckers off with a toothbrush after every shot. Mizuno sure knows how to make an iron look good
  2. Yeah, that's too bad for him! I'm really not a warriors fan, but Klay is the one guy I still have a lot of respect for. Doesn't complain, does what's best for the team, and flat out balls.
  3. Broke 90 for me, please and thanks! This badges look mighty spiffy, hopefully I can wrangle a few more
  4. Love this thread. Not that my golf game is anything to write home about, I do think it's about enjoying yourself, done friends, getting outside and challenging yourself. And gosh does it ever! I will say, one thing that's hit me recently is how many people I see in single digit HC (which I would consider very good, if not excellent, golfers) with not that great looking swings. I think that's really due to the fact that 1) course management is huuuuuuuuuuuuuge 2) committing to being really solid chipping and putting helps your score tremendously, and 3) being consistent with your swing once it's at a serviceable point and learning your tendencies (with small tweaks and improvements along the way) will be way better in the long run than taking a new swing thought into every round you play. Enjoy the grind playa!

I guess I haven't really picked up on it too much before, but is Jordan always this whiny? I'm not trying to say I wouldn't be stressed with millions on the line, and just prone to frustration on the golf course in general... but I agree. Caddies are super important but ultimately they don't swing the club. I wonder if caddies ever give the players grief after they decide on a perfect club and shape and the player puts it in the grand stands.

No kidding, the man looked half asleep out there
  8. In the midst of moving, so golfing has come at a premium the last two weeks. But I brought a few balls inside and have been working on my putting setup. Have been really pleasantly surprised with how my consistency has improved rolling it out, really looking forward to bringing it out on the course!
  9. Gosh, what am I not thinking about? I think a putter fitting is next up for me, but I think the next few years is going to be a slow phase of fittings and upgrades. Actually, I think it's time I really commit to a specific ball instead of the ball roulette tactic I usually employ.
  10. I added you as well... I agree! Feel free to add me as well, "ncwoz"
  11. Haha speaking from my father being an accountant, you're spreadsheet handicap is probably somewhere in the +1-+5 range
  12. Dang that's a great deal, thanks for sharing!!
  13. That's definitely what I'm thinking might be next, never gotten fit and need an the help I can get in the short game:)
  14. Hey revkev, appreciate your perspective, thanks for chiming in. That does make sense, and had honestly overlooked the driver being ~10 years old just because most of the other clubs are creeping up on 30 haha. But just curious if this changes anything for you. First, on 18 holes I probably go driver off the tee maybe 7 or 8 times. Other holes I'll go either 3w or 2 iron trying to stay out of trouble. Second, I can usually go around 300 with the driver without much strain. I could certainly see how the new tech development as well as getting fit might add some distance to my game, but it honestly feels like my inside 150 "skills" (or lack thereof) are what's holding me back most right now. Do you still think that the driver fitting would add a lot of value to the bag? Also, what would be needed for the trufit fitting? Unfortunately I don't have a ton in the way of hard stats on my swing speed and that sort of thing.
  15. Tier 5: David Bling Tiebreaker: -6
  16. Yeah, I'm with you on that one. I understand that hybrids are typically more forgiving for a higher handicapper like myself, but I actually really like using my 2 iron off the tee when I'm really trying to hit a fairway, especially when the wind kicks up. Maybe I'll keep my eye out for a solid used 5W to add to the artillery tho
  17. Totally agree. It's always super interesting to me when big Tour coaches also coach more "normal" handicappers and watch the kind of things they focus on. At least to me they typically seem a lot less technical than I'd expect.
  18. Gosh, no kidding! I came back from the range a few weeks ago and my wife thought I had been offroading with all the mud speckles on my face. Hopefully we get a good ole Michigan summer pretty soon here.
  19. Totally makes sense, thanks for the tips! I'm sure my wife will also appreciate it as well haha. And I definitely agree with getting new grips. The irons were given to me with ~20 year old grips, and getting them regripped last year was a game changer.
  20. Well folks, debated not posting but figured I've gotta start somewhere! It's a bit of a hodge podge, but here's my current load out: Driver: TaylorMade R9 SupterTri (Fujikura MotoreF1 65 shaft) 3W: Callaway X2 Hot (Aldila Tour Green 75 Tx shaft) Irons (PW-2): Ping Eye 2 Wedges (52 & 60): Mack Daddy 2's Putter: Ping Cushin Being that my wife and I still have college loans breathing down our necks I'm on a bit of a budget. This in mind, I'm wondering if anyone has advice on what would be most worth upgrading next? There's not really a club in here I can't stand, and don't want to go buy something that will only be a marginal difference from what I've got. Hit me with what you think!
  21. How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? I've played a little as I was younger, maybe a few times over the summer starting in middle school and high school (8-9 years ago). The last few years I've starting playing a lot more and really trying to improve, which is what led me here! I am currently putting together some full rounds to get my handicap on "The Grint" app, but typically shoot somewhere mid to upper 40's. What do you love about golf? I love the constant improvement and all the intricacies, as well as the social aspect. I was a HS sports person, so now that I'm "grown up" (mostly ) I love that golf gives me something to work on and try to improve, and that gets me active and outside. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? Only if they're really good spies, because I don't know of any! I ran across the forum amidst my random internet golf meandering about equipment or improvement or something along those lines. Liked what I saw and thought it'd be cool to be a part of the community so here I am! Where are you from? What is your home course? I'm from West Michigan, and don't currently have a home course. College debt has me basically playing wherever I can manage to find deals, but I end up playing North Kent, Arrowhead, and Candlestone probably most frequently at the moment. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? Well, it's tough for me to compare because I've never lived anywhere else, but the winter definitely kills a lot of golf activity, that's for sure! What do you do for a living? I'm a mechanical engineer at a design consultant firm. How’d you pick your user name? Well, it's basically my default when I'm not feeling creative, not a whole lot more to it than that!
