  1. Boo hiss, no Cadet sizes for us short-fingered guys. Guess I'll stick with MG Golf Glove Mens DynaGrip All-Cabretta Leather (Cadet Sizes) from Amazon for $8.25 with free shipping.
  2. Gotta love it when a plan comes together !
  3. I have seen them and been intrigued, but have not tried one. Since I have graphite shafts on all my Woods and Irons, I would be worried about clipping them in and out of the shaft "clamps" in the Founders Club bag.
  4. A priest is waiting in a train station, when in walks a fellow looking a little disheveled with lipstick on his collar and a flask sticking out of the top of one of the pockets of his sports coat and a tie hanging out of the other. The fellow begins reading his newspaper and after a bit he lowers it down and asks the priest, "Excuse me Father, but what causes arthritis?" The priest says, "Cavorting about with loose women and drinking to excess". Guy says, "Hey, thanks Father". A few more minutes pass and the next train is announced, and they both get up. The priest says to the fellow, "I'm sorry, I came on a little strong there, how long have you had arthritis, my son?" To which the guy replies, "Oh I don't have it Father, but this article in the paper says the Pope does."
  5. Thanks! I forgot to mention earlier that I had a par-saving one putt on 18 from 23 feet. Must say the DF 2.1 acquitted itself quite well from long range today.
  6. Thanks! I glanced up as I was retrieving my ball, and said to myself, "that's cool, I gotta get a pic"
  7. Clear and cool this morning for a back nine practice round (could still see my breath on 18 at 41 degrees). I was the first one off the back, and went out as a threesome of me, myself, and I. The long grass actually had some frost on it (yes I played from it a few times as well), and was building up on my spikes. The driver went where I pointed it, and consistently found the middle of the fairways, which was nice. Made bogie on 3 of the first 4 holes (cold hands don't work quite as well), but pars on the rest except for the par 3 16th where a left-to-right 45 footer found the bottom of the hole for the first birdie of the year. Attached pic is what caught my eye as I headed back to my bag on # 11. Man it was nice to get out !
  8. I'll throw in my 2 cents on bags/carts. Don't know if you walk or ride, but if you do walk I've read that doctors recommend you use a push cart instead of a stand bag (easier on the back). In that case, a cart bag will work if you either ride or push. I just LOVE the TopLok system on the Bag-Boy carts which integrates with that same system on either Datrek or Bag-Boy bags. Quad XL cart is super easy to fold/unfold; it is also quite compact when folded, (and they make a great storage bag which keeps the trunk clean). Nice integrated beverage holder which is good size (holds my Yeti 20 oz. Tumbler with ease) The Top-Lok system gets your bag attached and rolling toward the course in under a minute (no straps to mess with), and is very secure - you'd have to upend the whole thing for the bag to detach. There are quite a few models of bags between the two brands (I have a Datrek) so it will depend on what features are most important to you.
  9. OK, I just saw this one now. You win the internet for me today, that was too damn funny!
  10. Stop counting once you get to the practice green. Winter golf is for keeping/getting your swing grooved. It's not a real test of your scoring prowess anyway, so why stress over it? Now if you head somewhere tropical, where the conditions are pristine, sharpen the pencil...
  11. One quibble with your last sentence. You should never be able to have that thought, since the thought should be that EVERY putt is going in. Lots of times the body will do what the mind conceives...
  12. Played a back nine this morning (San Jose, CA) in long-sleeve t-shirt and waffle weave 1/4 zip. Mid-40s to start, and low 50s at the finish. Light drizzle on 13 and 14, but sure was nice to get out.
  13. Did you feel a kinship with Tiger at that point of getting into double digits? Although his was on a par 3 with multiple water adventures mixed in...
  14. Been looking forward to your Gamer ball review, so that is the bright side for the rest of us, too bad your course didn't stick to what they published they were going to do.
  15. You are certainly justified in having a chapped rear. That is soooo frustrating. Just do what you say you're going to do, and we can deal with it.
  16. I assume the part about, "and done right, I don't take a divot" has taken a fair bit of practice to master (as is true of most things).
  17. What a trooper your wife is. And by that, I mean armed (or in this cased "braked") and dangerous. Glad you survived !
  18. Yeah, I'm guessing a flop shot from the surface of the green would have been frowned upon quite likely
  19. Make your life more stress free by playing winter golf without keeping score. Keep the swing grooved and work on some things, especially when the course is wet -- that's not a true test of your scoring prowess anyway.
  20. Keep that up, the more you save on balls, the more you have for the rest of your golf endeavors !
  21. If there is a difference in the weight of the grips, then you will be impacting the swing weight. Also, you mention counterbalance grip - sometimes the counterbalance is in the top end of the shaft, so in that case it would depend on whether you were leaving that in, or removing it. Some people are more effected by swing weight than others, so that would play into your question of changing the way it plays. As with quite a few things, "Your Mileage May Vary". There are a couple of swing weight calculators available on line, so you can check that yourself. You will need an accurate scale that will measure in either grams or ounces (kitchen or postage scale will work), and a tape measure (or yard stick) to measure from the balance point to the end of the grip.
  22. We complain about the cost of living, high taxes, and price of housing in the Bay Area (you qualify for food stamps in San Francisco if your income is $110K); but after a bit of a chilly start in the low 50's, we were in shirt sleeves finishing the back nine we played in south San Jose this morning, so that was nice.
  23. Was all over the bay this year selling stuff to afford new or newer (club ho was an avocation this year for sure). Loved the look of the new nickel finish on the L.A.B. Golf DF2.1 so swapped out my previous 2.1 and B.2 for that. Also got fitted for my 0211's (a first for me), and got into shafts that I never would have ordered if I hadn't been fitted (made some good $ on a set of Cobra F-Max Superlite irons to help me out on getting the PXGs -- along with their great price reduction). Upgraded to CBX2 version of wedges, from the prior gen CBX. And moved from Rogue FW to Titleist TS2 4W & 7W. Now that I've actually put all that down in one place, I guess there were only a couple things that held their place in the bag, and that would be the G400 Max driver, and the oldest club in the bag, which I still hit the straightest - an older Cobra Baffler 23* hybrid. Wishing all my fellow spies a happy new year !
  24. That driver shaft that's in the closet would be all caps for me - OUCH. And I'd have it listed on the bay, to recoup some of that $ (also I'd never have to see it again).
  25. You're the only one I've seen so far who lists shoes in their WITB signature area, so it's probably redundant to mention that you are a shoe ho.
