  1. I definitely agree that playing with better golfers helps you throughout the course of the round. 1) it challenges you to go for shots that you might not typically go for to try and compete with the better golfers. It might not work out every shot, but when you do but that tough shot, it gives you confidence for the next time 2) those better golfers might give you tips and tricks to slightly help out something you struggle with. 3) you get in a groove with everybody hitting decent shots. You don’t really have to wait around for people looking for their balls getting you out of rhythm. You feed off people doing good, you want that feeling, gives you hope/want to drain that putt for birdie/par.
  2. Yep. I was playing in a foursome, one of the golfers was playing a tee up. For some reason he went up to that tee before we had teed off. The last golfer hit his tee shot but hit a screamer 4 feet off the ground right into the back of the arm of the golfer who went ahead to his tee. It bruised his arm on the bicep from impact. the golfer who hit him felt horrible, but the golfer who was hit was fine, just got a bad bruise. I bet he will just wait for now on.
  3. I agree that it keeps me a little bit more focused on the round you are involved with, but I also love the competition of playing with others. If someone in your group is playing good, you want to step up your game and play better. My problem with playing by myself is that I tend to hit multiple shots after my main ball I’m playing, making the round longer. It’s great practice with trying different shot shapes, playing with risk/reward, etc. So instead of being focused in on my one ball, I end up playing multiple balls and getting a lot of practice in.
  4. I’m a morning/before lunch guy. Doesn’t take long for me to warm up the muscles. I like getting my round done before lunch/at lunch. Pace of play is big to me. Usually I get held up in twilight rounds and mess up my mindset/rhythm.
  5. I almost always play 18. Rarely do I play just 9 as I don’t get a feel for how I played throughout a full round. Some rounds, I’m hot to start, and then I cool off or vice versa. No way am I stopping at 9 if I am even or better.
  6. I think my second would be Xander Schauffele. He is showing he can win or be in contention on Sunday at big tournaments. Rising star for sure if not already here.
  7. I played a round in the Ignite NXT spikeless recently, actually my first ever round in them, where the weather was nice but the ground was still wet from the rain the past couple days. I couldn’t avoid some wet spots and my shoes never gave me any trouble with soaking up and starting to be too heavy. I have loved playing in them so far, definitely suggest the purchase.
  8. I agree with you on everything you said, I’m just a big Fowler fan and always hope that he finally breaks through. I’ve been following him since his Ok State days. he did come in 2nd though in 2018? I believe.
  9. Looks like only one other person on this thread believes in Rickie Fowler. He’s going to be a couple shots back on Sunday and come back and win it.
  10. I recently bought the Ignite NXT Spikeless shoes. My first time wearing them was 2 days after a big rain and walking 9 holes. They were extremely comfortable and didn’t have any issues at all. I have now played 2 rounds with them and it seems like I have been wearing them for a year now. My only concern is how long will the grip hold up considering they are “spikeless”. I only put the shoes on when I get in the cart to limit the wear and tear on the concrete/asphalt.
  11. I recently switched to the Snell MTB Black and X to test out and have not been disappointed. Feels like it travels further than the Pro V1X or Chrome Softs I used to play with, but that could just be that I have hit the weight room recently. I also like the way the Snell ball comes off my irons more so than any other ball I’ve used. Go in with a friend and buy up to 5 dozen and I think it’s around $28 per dozen. I think it’s worth it.
  12. If this hasn’t already been suggested, look into Tobacco Road in North Carolina. The hole layouts look incredible.
  13. How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? I have been plying golf for about 15 years now. Currently my handicap is a 10.3, but working to lower that. What do you love about golf? I love the grind, the pursuit of consistency, the birdies, Chip ins, GIRs, And constantly trying to develop your game. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? I follow MyGolfSpy on twitter and wanted to get more involved with people on the forum and look into testing opportunities Where are you from? What is your home course? I’m from Birmingham, AL. My GHIN is based out of RTJ Oxmoor Valley, but I love to play all the courses around Birmingham. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? It depends on how hard of a course you want to go play. Some courses are wide open where a bad drive might be in another fairway still allowing a decent shot at the green where as a lot of these RTJ courses are tougher and require consistent shots. What do you do for a living? I am an engineer for the power company here in Alabama. How’d you pick your user name? Just my initial of first and middle along with last name.
