It has been a few years, but we are very happy to have PING golf clubs back as part of our Forum Member Testing! The PING s159 are the newest wedges from PING; however, it is not just new wedges that PING is excited about for this testing opportunity. They have also released their new WebFit App that aims to simplify the often confusing wedge grind dilemma.

PING s159 Wedge Features:

The s159 wedges are now offered in six different grind options, with two brand new grinds introduced for this series (the B and H grinds). As PING worked closely with their tour professionals on an updated design and look which would appeal to more golfers.

PING has included their Friction Face that combines face blast and their optimized precision-milled grooves for what they claim is "the launch and spin control to play score-lowering shots from every distance." Add in appropriately spaced MicroMax grooves depending on the loft; these wedges are packed full of technology.

All of their loft and grind combinations have been made available in two different finishes: The Hydropearl 2.0 Chrome and Midnight.

The WebFit Wedge App:

A simple step-by-step questionnaire based on what their wedge experts use to identify the best grinds and options for their tour pros, the WebFit app aims to simplify and find the best grinds and lofts for your game.
The entire process takes only a few minutes and provides several options that best suit your answers, making the choice of knowing what grind should work for you a whole lot simpler!

About The Testing Opportunity:

Four golfers will be selected to test, review, and keep a set of PING s159 wedges. Testers will go through the new PING WebFit Wedge App and then discuss their recommended specifications with a PING representative to dial in their specifications.

I’ve really noticed my just okay wedge game seems to be what’s keeping me from scoring really well. I have a feeling the fitting app along with these wedges would be potentially what breaks me through.

Wow!  I got a Ping Glide a few years back to replace my 58 in my bag and I love it.  I have a mixed bag of wedges and would love a complete set.  I love Ping clubs, always have.  Used a set of irons through college and now playing them again.  Would be awesome to get my hands on these and replace what I have.  And I need to replace my wedges too.  And then I see they have the midnight finish.  Those look sweet, that is the finish of my Glide wedge I currently play.  Good luck to everyone.

I'm still using 7+ year old Cleveland RTG's (54 and 60) since I've not found a more recent wedge with the grind options those offered, until now apparently. Always been a bit put-off by the Ping wedge design in previous years, but these look more like other wedge manufacturers (vokey, cleveland). The fitting app looks really cool for those of us with no time to get fitted or spend hours at a big box store looking through clubs. Ping has taken over my driver and 3-wood (410 lst's) in recent years, so they might take over the wedge department too!

That was more detailed than I expected. I’d love to know the science behind turf conditions etc. I would not have thought there would be a difference whether or not you play wet or dry conditions.

These would look great in the bag with my i525’s. Never tried a Ping wedge as I’ve always been a Roger Cleveland guy- 588’s and Callaway MD5’s. Would love this opportunity!

Thanks MGS!

Wedges are next on my list of clubs to replace, only having a 52 and 58 at the moment is fine, but I am also missing a lot of yardage from PW to 52 as I have 9 degrees different between them (PW is at 43). Having different bounces and grinds are the important area for this and I believe I know enough about my wedges and what shots to hit with what club to be able to give a useful review.

Excited for this test. Wish I could join the call this afternoon to learn more about them, but unfortunately I'll be coaching a soccer game at that time. Hope I get chosen.

I'm not surprised at the results at all! Being 100% truthful on the fit is important.

Funny tidbit, I went through the full webfit for kicks, I was curious . Not bad selections.

Thanks @PING and MGS for this great testing opportunity.  If selected,  I will provide the members and public with my most thorough and rigorous efforts. This sign-up already has me searching into all the different facets of wedges technology. I never realized the depths that bounce, lie, grind, sole design, etc goes into how they affect your shots. Good luck to everyone !!!
