Sluggo42
36 putts today That include a 3 and a 4....(grimace) I'm starting to think I need a mallet...nah, it wasn't horrible. But, my line is getting better, but my distance was not good. It's like I've never played the game before with this rut I'm in,... I did throw a few "look at the hole" practice putts, and they weren't as bad as I thought they were going to be, so I will give that some more time next time I go to range. GolfSpy WD
Spend more time on the practice green. Forget the techno gizmos and just hit the ball. Read your line, then see if the ball goes where you expect. If not, check your speed or look at the line again and see where you went wrong. Then do this again on a different practice green and then another, and so on. Also, mallets kick ass. @GolfSpy_WD
RookieBlue7
I'll tell you something else that will help you "see" if you're pushing or pulling putts. If you can find some that are affordable, Ping's old Eye2 balls were GREAT for putting practice. There is al alternative though. Nitro (I believe is who makes them) makes a half and half, 2 colored ball as well. Line the seam where the 2 colors meet up in line with your intended line. If you push or pull it, you'll see the wobble from the 2 colors. Sluggo42
My lines were decent today, but my speed was horrific a few times, and I really don't like that. I didn't used to be so bad with distance. I honestly don't get it. I know.... Practice.... Blade
Speed has been my biggest issue as well. Need more practice. The greens I play on different courses around here vary wildly from slow to fast which also affects how the ball breaks in addition to just distance. I I was on one course all the time, I would probably do better.
Sluggo42
So I went to the range to hit some balls and to try out my new V3. Scoped all the flags and was amazed with the ease of using it compared to the 1500, but I digress. So I'm hitting balls and so I think to myself, take your glasses off. Started hitting them pretty good too, so it occurs to me they are hindering my swing. So well go with that for the next round, and see if I can hit without them. But now the best part. I walk over to the putting green and start putting with no glasses on. At first, the breaks are all backwards and weird as heck. But I powered on and the breaks started to appear after about half an hour. Plus my distances were starting to get zeroed in too. Actually had a few longer putts drop, and was raining in the 5-6 footers. It was a bit strange, as the ball looked smaller, but I could swivel my head and not run into the edge of the glasses in my sight line. Very excited to try a round without them now... It might end up just a passing notion, but at lease it seems promising today! Sluggo42
83 with 34 putts, without wearing my glasses! Starting to see the breaks more and more, and ditching the glasses is helping. I played with an older pair of glasses for a long time until I got comfortable with my no lines bifocals and again until I got used to playing with the trifocals. Sluggo42
Quick round this morning 81/36 putts My iron play is coming back finally. Just a little stronger grip with the left hand. Why is this game so finicky?
