johndeere10
Cameron strikes again. Stole CURRENT patents from Byron on high beam milled neck and how to mill insert exactly. I'm not sure how he made these better this time. @johndeere10
SPY VIP GolfSpy Dave Posted October 13, 2011 SPY VIP Share Posted October 13, 2011 Dave you referring to the milling on the neck I am assuming? Yep. SPY VIP GolfSpy_X Posted October 13, 2011 Author SPY VIP Share Posted October 13, 2011 Well I have never really looked at his patent on this. But in all honesty that is not an original design by him either. That has been done by others before. #TruthDigest

apples
Not a huge fan of how the insert looks...would've looked better if the insert was smooth instead of having the exact same mill marks as the rest of the face. How it is it looks kinda cheap... SPY VIP GolfSpy_X Posted October 13, 2011 Author SPY VIP Share Posted October 13, 2011 I'm always curious getting responses from golfers about why they like or dislike attributes about putters. For example I am wondering what is is about the milling on the insert to you that makes it look cheap? apples
I'm always curious getting responses from golfers about why they like or dislike attributes about putters. For example I am wondering what is is about the milling on the insert to you that makes it look cheap? Idk really, I suppose from the photo viewing the face straight on I kind of lose the insert in the rest of the face, as if its all just one piece. The rest of the putter is great looking, so I like it as a whole, so don't get me wrong, but the insert just isn't doing it for me. The other bit might be because its not really symmetrical, where the hosel side of the insert kind of follows the shape of the head.Maybe just make it a bit smaller so they don't have to put that in there. Disrupts the balance of everything. The shape of the Tel3 insert would've looked better I think. Flow and balance of a design are huge factors for me when it comes to putters. But hey what do I know, I'm just a silly college kid haha Driver--Taylormade RBZ Tour 9* Aldila RIP Phenom 65s Fairway Metal--Taylormade R11s 14* Aldila RIP Phenom 70s Hybrid--Taylormade RBZ Tour 18.5* RE-AX 85 gram S Irons--Nike Vr Pro-Combo 4-PW True Temper Dynamic Gold S300 Wedges--Nike SV Tour Forged 50*, 56*, 60* True Temper Dynamic Gold Putter--Scotty Cameron California Del Mar Ball--Taylormade Lethal Grips--Lamkin R.E.L 3Gen (Woods-green, Irons-red, Wedges-white)

That has been done by others before. AGREE!! Thats been done by WHITLAM,BYRON,and others. why is it that scotty is the only copy cat on designs? Heck PING probably did it too and they are the original ANSER and every freaking putter maker has copied since but only Scotty gets grief! finalist
The neck has been done by Whitlam and Tad Moore. Who was the first? Byron's patent was created 1999, but that's not when he started using them. Tad says he was using them in 1995/1996. Byron first started making putters in the 1980s. Scotty gets grief because of how he treated many of his close friends, father figure and business partners as he was coming up. His guys make very cool looking putters for the most part, but he has burned many bridges and been ruthless on his way to the top. Forget all the little stuff people complain about regarding him these days such as marketing and putter aesthetics - that stuff is minor. The major stuff is he'd shake your hand one day and agree to a business deal and the next day he'd disappear to sale the other guy's idea to bigger companies- not just putter ideas, but ideas for drivers. He's got a legacy within his inner circle of mentors that would drive most people insane. Why do you think he's so universally disliked by almost everyone in the industry that has worked in it for a long time? Except Titleist and AM&E? I spy with my little eye something...
