Mmoorhead
This last week I had to go out of town for work so I made extra time to play a few courses in TN. I played Bent Creek GC in Gatlinburg TN, and I played the Gatlinburg Golf Course as well. They were so amazing, the views were spectacular. I entered a Four man scramble that my organization put on to help fund the Disaster Relief program, out team won 1st, I won the longest drive and the closest to the pin. Both courses were really challenging and took a lot of course management to keep a good score. Ill post some pictures below. Courses are worth playing if your ever in the area. 20230622_160951.mp4 BallsLeon and GaDawg 1 1 Quote Matt M.
Tom the Golf Nut
@Mmoorhead those courses were in my back yard so to speak. Played them numerous times. I see you recorded the 185/195 yard par 3 that you only need a 8 or 9 iron into. A 200 foot drop to the green. I think the worst part is the cart ride down to the green. The ball does hang in the air forever though. I just moved away in December to NC. Mountain golf rules! Mmoorhead
@Tom the Golf Nut yes, the cart ride down made me very grateful that I wasn't walking lol. I loved playing mountain golf. Watching the ball flight, the hang time, and seeing it hit the green was a rush. I look forward to playing more mountain courses. Now that your in NC have you thought of playing the World Amateur tournament in Myrtle Beach. It looks like a lot of fun, I may check into it next year (end of August every year). Quote Matt M. I looked into the big World Amateur tournament a few years ago. When I dug deeper and looked at a lot of reviews and stuff there were a lot of complaints about cheating and sandbagging. So, I kind of just let it go. Maybe it has turned around since then. I was contemplating it though since I had time shares in North Myrtle so it would have been cheap for me. A lot of sandbaggers too. All the courses they advertise looks great, it's interesting that you mention only playing one really good course. I guess that's advertising though. Quote Matt M. cardia10
How were the conditions at Bent Creek? Used to play it when locals could go out for $17. It went downhill and sold and closed for a while. Was hoping that new owners had gotten it back in shape. Think it is a "resort course" of a big hotel chain now?
