I would say I mostly play Redtail last summer because of the ya golf! Discount (have 1 more year to milk it before paying full price) but am pretty open to any course! Thanks for connecting @Kenny B

Welcome  on board! Thanks to @Kenny B for the tag. Where do you normally play in PDX? We should for sure meet up. There are several others in the area as well and the Portland area has a great crew.

Wow, that was an epic round one of the playoffs. Who said the NHL playoffs were hard when you had each team duking it out hole by hole. And you thought the Players championship was close. My pre tournament favourites faired well with @Javs/ @CFreddie, @GolfSpy_BEN/ @Preeway and @Randall Robbins/ @IndyBonzo teams all moving forward.
So in the semi finals who have you got. You know, the rest of the GolfSpy’s (APH, SAM, KFT, Shark) will have their pens and score cards out judging the competition on their secret ballots.

So in the matchup of B vs C WINNER, you know the long hitting and competitive @Javs will bring the heat and @CFreddie will have his special Georgia “Master’s” secret sauce versus the ever steady and consistent Florida sunshine man @Randall Robbins together with the Hoosier's state  @IndyBonzo Will he be “testing” his Qi10 driver and which shaft will he bring. Two of my pre tournament favourites going head to head in this one and I suspect it will be the play of @CFreddie and @IndyBonzo ultimately determining the outcome. No pressure guys.
In the other matchup of A vs D WINNERS,  you have I’m in Mexico @EMacK1961 and everything is bigger in Texas’ @daviddvm Against my game is on fire @Preeway together with my driver last week was held together with duct tape and bondo @GolfSpy_BEN. Will Ben get his replacement Qi10 driver in time?  Will the silent assassins of group A, @EMacK1961 bring the Mexican sunshine and his habaneros to continue to play well together with the other Texas single handicap native @daviddvm.  Whose secret home brew will be better and reign supreme, @Preeway or @CFreddie. Will @IndyBonzo travel to play golf?  So is this the rumoured MGS cup they’re all playing for?

So my semi final picks this week are the team of @Javs/ @CFreddie and @GolfSpy_BEN/ @PreewayWill either make it to the final?  Or will the teams of @EMacK1961 and @Randall Robbins team make this Canadian eat his hockey puck to keep him quiet. Keep watching to find out.

With all the drama in the B flight, the C flight seems a bit boring.

Again, everyone in the C flight played well.  In the end, Randall Robbins and IndyBonzo pulled it our scoring the lowest best ball total of any team in the tournament at -11.

Hold on to your hats!  The B flight was the closest of the four.  In fact, three of the four teams tied for the lead!

The top three teams all tied at -8!  Here we had to go several matches deep to finally declare Javs and Cfreddie the winners!

OK, here's where it gets a little confusing.  The matches are in the red boxes with the number indicating the match number (1 is the first, 2 is the second, etc.).  Again, we started by adding up each teams handicap indexes and matched starting with the lowest total (indicating the hardest holes).   So if you look at the red box with "1", you'll see that all three teams tied with a best ball even score.  Going to the second match (2 box), two teams tied again with -1, but CB Lobo 4 Life and GolfSpy SAM drop out as the were even.  At the third match, Javs and Cfreddie won with a -1 with warrenator8 and Placasse61 posting a +1.  You'll notice that in warrenator8 and Placasse61's case, both 2 and 3 matches totaled 11.  Since the first match warrenator8 had the lower handicap index with 2, I used Placasse61's lowest number next and back to warrenator8's lower score for the third match.  In the end, the order didn't matter.
Congratulations to all the teams in the B flight!  You all scored very well.
Javs and Cfreddie move on the the semi-finals!

Date 03/14/2024 Course Name Heron Lakes Greenback Gross Score 121 Course Handicap 42 Gross Strokes over/under par 49 Net Score to Par 7 Net Score 79 Net Birdies or better Longest Drive SIM Round? Weather has gotten much better and was in the 60s the last round I played.  Unfortunately, it was a stinker of a round.  The back half of that round was looking up and was hitting bogies and scaring par a few times.  However, had to cut it short and didn't play the last three holes.  Net double bogey is bad for best ball.

I did three rounds this week just to hedge my bets.  The middle round is the one I'm posting.  The first round was a better overall score, but only managed a couple of net birdies, so am throwing it out.  The middle round is what I present to you.  My calculation gets us to net par, with only one wasted birdie between myself and @rkj427.

Winds were howling, temperatures did make it to mid 50's by the end, but we also played the last 3 holes in the rain.
Still a great time, and always happy and grateful to be able to get out on a real course in March here in Michigan.

I feel you on this.  Only broke 100 once, and it seemed so easy.  Like, "I can do this every time, what's so hard about it?".  Haven't gotten close in the last 14 months.  However, I think I'm coming into a new game and will start hitting sub 100 soon.  Can't wait to keep knocking it down.

I'm itching to get out.  The weather has finally broke here and we have great weather through the weekend, getting up into the low 70's.

I've got a round booked for tomorrow at the home course, and another on Thursday.  I may even try to squeeze in a round Friday.

Date 03/12/2024 Course Name Indian Creek Gross Score 69 Course Handicap 4 Gross Strokes over/under par -3 Net Score to Par -7 Net Score 65 Net Birdies or better Longest Drive SIM Round? I’ve been knocking on the door for the past year but I never thought anyone was going to answer. First round with the Aerojet and much of the credit goes to my driver. 11 drives were hit with driver and 9 were in the fairway with an average distance of 293 yards. The longest was 325 yards.
You could definitely tell the course was just starting to water the course as the ground was still a little firm and some of the par 4 tee boxes were further up than normal. Still, my shot making was on point and the Odyssey Ai-milled putter was steady Eddie all round. Only bogey on the day was from a short sided green side bunker. I was truly waiting for the wheels to fall off on the back nine and I thought this was it. That bogey took me back to -2 and I figured a catastrophe was waiting for me in the next hole, a long par 5. After a 300 yard drive that just ran into the rough, I made the decision to go for the green from 235 yards out.
It’s a 210 carry to clear the creek with two trees, one left and one right, that act like bushy goal posts that you have to thread to reach the green. It’s truly a sucker play so I went ahead and said screw it. LFG! To my horror the shot came off a tad thin and was heading dead straight to the right side of the green. There was no way I wouldn’t clip a limb or two on the right goal post. Luckily, that’s all it did and it finished pin high about 15 feet off the green. After a masterful pitch, I had 18” for a tap in birdie. Back to -3 with three to play. Two with water in play. 3 hybrid off the tee on 16 stopped about 10 yards short of the water.

After taking a deep breath I hit the 90 yard 56° wedge to 12 feet but lip out the birdie. 17 was a 145 yard par three with water that goes the length of the green on the right side. Any miss right is disaster. So I played this one safe and missed the green a little left and it rolled about 10 feet off. Easy up and down being pin high and I was off to 18 tee needing par for glory. 18 is straight uphill and into the wind. Still managed to hit driver 278 yards and had 115 to the pin. Hit my 52° wedge to the center of the green but wasn’t sure how far from the pin I finished. I walked up and saw this…

I had 45 feet with a big jump in the middle. I’ve never prayed so hard for a two putt in all my life. I took my line and when it stopped I had this for par.

Speed control was top notch all day long. I still can’t believe I did it. My distance off the tee today almost made it feel like I cheated. Heading out again on Friday so we’ll see if this was a flash in the pan or my new normal for 2024.

    The TL/DR version… I BROKE 70!!

Go and have fun and play your best!
I have tee times for Saturday and Sunday here, mid 50's Saturday, high 40's Sunday but both days are looking to be dry.
Playing with at least one of our regular foursome both days.
