I certainly think you are on the correct path focusing on impact. Being as dedicated as you are you will video your swing and know your numbers which if you get off provides a path back and improvement.

I've been rebuilding my bag over the last year. Always played a 3-hybrid during my time in high-school and college golf, didn't use it often but appreciated the versatility it provided in deep rough situations. Now, i've become way more fond of a 5-wood in place of the 3-H. My launch angle is slighter higher, adds more spin and provides a softer and steeper descent into the greens to stop close. This is incredibly beneficial to me in long par-5 situations. Hope this helps your decision.

I have carried 2 hybrids for many years and felt this was best for me and my game. A good friend recommended a 5 wood and 4 hybrid andthen 5 thru pw iron set,  I have been pleased with this change especially when I have a 200 yard distance from the rough shot. I find that the length of the 5 wood has been a game changer for me. Tom   

Don’t do the driving range before my tee time, but try to get there early to practice putting 

There is a local par 3, walk on with no tee times, that I go to. If there is no one behind or if I am held up, I search along edge for balls. I actually now have a 5 gallon bucket of found balls in my truck. I have to walk by the driving range to #1 tee, so I usually take about 10 of those found balls and hit them off before I start. Just seems to stretch a few muscles instead of teeing off completely cold.

As a child my father taught me to warm up before a round of golf and to return after the round to work on areas of your game that needed work. The advice became a habit and I feel that the warm up forces you to arrive early, be intentional about preparing for the round with time for putting as well. You now have loosened up, given your mechanics thought, have a feel for the greens and as Jack Nicklaus has always said the first swing is the most important because it sets the tone for the round.

I was looking for honest answers concerning golf equipment, golf balls and all things golf. I have set up a Golf Spy folder that I keep your e valuations in and refer back to them regularly. I expect Golf Companies to self promote, why would they not? My real frustrations come from the noise of getting fitted for golf equipment because are we really being fitted or simply receiving a recommendation based on 10 to 15 swings and 2 shaft options? I have taken the time to travel to a number of demo days to try out equipment I was interested in buying and waiting for a fitter only for him to look at my current equipment and hand me his closest option. I actually received more help from a fitter hired for the day to assist the manufacturers representative. I have found a fitter that is a Certified fitter that I work with that has no allegiance to a brand and believe he has MY best interests at heart.  Just wondering, at a demo day the reps have the launch monitors there but don't bring them out because some people simply want to know their numbers and so they alleviate the distractions.
