  2. Let’s go @2puttbogey! I feel some good golf waiting to emerge. It’s time!
  3. @GolfSpy_BEN you crushed driver today, and refused to let the difficult course beat you. And that drive on 18 was epic. I remain impressed. Looking forward to next time.
  4. Playing golf today was a great example of why I love this fickle game. I had the pleasure of meeting @GolfSpy_BEN in person and playing 18 with him at Legendary Run golf course near Cincinnati. As you all would expect, Ben is a kind, gracious, supportive, and fun golf partner. He hit some truly great drives today too, and although not playing his best, still scored well and remained a constantly great companion. I look forward to playing with Ben again sometime soon. What makes golf so great is that we could have such a good time despite my play. How’d I play? That about captures it. There were some good flashes, but yeah. And I don’t care. Cannot wait to play again. Better. Thanks for the great time @GolfSpy_BEN.
  5. @Indy_Oz that is a truly excellent score for your first round at Bear Slide. Well done! You should be proud. I hope we get a chance to go out and play together. Maybe there at Bear Slide. It would be a fun time. Your photos are gorgeous. Beautiful. I miss Bear Slide now!
  6. Hey @Indy_Oz! I have played Bear Slide several times, but not this year. It is a very attractive course, long but fair (and often windy). I think you will love it. I do not have enough course knowledge to impart much significant wisdom, but I will say this much: a) checking it out ahead of time and creating a strategy will help you on this course, and b) picking your landing spots and distances on 10 and 15 is key. Good luck with it and let me know how it goes, please!
  7. Will do. Here's a preview: I played 18 with them yesterday. I want to play at least one more round before I weigh in fully, but I can say I was very impressed with ball flight off driver and on approach shots.
  8. Date 07/14/2024 Course Name River Glen Gross Score 83 Course Rating 70.7 Course Slope 131 Gross Strokes over/under par 12 Birdies or better 1 Longest Drive 259 Fun, beautiful day with a 6:40 am start. Rough scoring - fighting through a very sore right lower back. Distance suffered with every club, and I never could get into a scoring groove on the front 9. It was still a good time with some good shots to build on. If I can get my back sorted, I think I have some good scores waiting to emerge. 43-40-83 is not so bad at this course. A year ago I would have been thrilled with that score.
  9. I am finally making good on my promise to share some pics of my new to me Hogan wedges. I see now I need to clean them up a bit, but I know my fellow Spies are forgiving enough to overlook that (along with toes being included). First, what I think is my new 100-yard club, the Forged 5309: Next, the 56° Sure Out. It’s amazing from the sand and for chipping around the greens but jury is still out from 30-85 yards. Lastly, after watching the Let’s Play Through lovefests on this ball, I bought a dozen Legato balls to try. They will make their debut tomorrow early morning. 85 compression. A brighter yellow than my beloved Maxfli Tour X and a bit less compression too. Only $30/doz on Amazon. My first impression is that they look a little busy. They feel like a quality ball in hand, but not sure that means much if anything. Will report back! Thanks for looking!
  10. Greetings Spies. I practiced on the garage sim today. After warming up, I hit 25-30 iron shots with the purposeful long pause at the transition point. Then hit several mid iron shots and some driver shots working on tempo before playing 3-4 GSPro holes. This tempo training is difficult for me. I instinctively want to rush. So this is important practice for me. I felt good at first but my lower back pain on the right side came back about halfway through and tightened me up. It costs me distance for certain. I do have to be careful. The garage is not air conditioned and stuffy. Even with a fan going, I have to practice this time of year wearing rain gloves bc I sweat so much! I stopped when FABWIFE came in to tell me the news of President Trump’s shooting. Not how I expected my practice to conclude, to say the least. Be safe Spies.
  11. I built a driver for my friend’s son. Found an R7 head in a bag I bought used that had the shaft broken off at the tip of the hosel. It took some work but I got that removed and shafted it with an Xcaliber Avalon 6 shaft. I didn’t have any short ferrules so left it plain. It doesn’t look bad with the long hosel to my eye. Such a pretty shaft too! Hope it gets lots of play.
  12. I have to say, with some knowledge in the relevant subject matter (but no firsthand knowledge of this specific situation whatsoever), Bryson’s explanation rings true - especially since Mr. Schy admits he attempted to extort Bryson for $2 million when things went sideways earlier this month. I am going to make some educated guesses and express some opinions. But I acknowledge facts could prove me wrong Anyway … I applaud DeChambeau for handling his business, including his charitable giving, professionally and with quality advisors to try to ensure long-term viability and success. A non-recourse loan does not subject a borrower to liability beyond the amount of collateral provided. It is probable that only the assets of the proposed tour would have secured the loan. Mr. Schy would not have had personal liability. The tour assets would likely have little financial value beyond name recognition and goodwill, but the collateral likely would have included rights to Bryson’s father’s name and likeness. One can understand why DeChambeau would want to have the ability (on several levels) to reclaim that name had the tour not succeeded, as it seems it did not. That is probably why a loan was proposed rather than an outright gift This all sounds generous on DeChameau’s part. It seems a shame it did not work out, and that it’s now in the press.
  13. Good luck in your tourney @GolfSpy_KFT! Update: Turns out I am labor. Moving companies supply their workers no tools at all? And minimal IKEA furniture disassembly is stupefying? (I mean, it can be, but to a professional mover?) P.S. Bring me the head of William Allen on a platter.
  14. I saw it on the Feed/Recent Content. Lots of new posts with spam. The mods may have already deleted them!
  15. Thanks my friend @sirchunksalot! I plan to serve as management rather than labor as much as possible today! Lol. So true on the spam. The forum is overrun this morning.
  16. Good morning Spies! Busy day today moving my eldest daughter out of her college apartment to an adult one. Pretty cool. Thank goodness we hired movers. If I never have to dis- and re-assemble ikea furniture again it will be too soon. Hoping to get 18 in sometime this weekend! I wish you all fantastic days!
  17. Maltby is on fire. I have not hit the others, but admire the new Edels and Hogans and MacGregors from afar and hear great things about Vice’s new offering.
  18. I got a good deal, and I took a chance. First, I believed the hype, took a flyer, and ordered an ACCRA Shogun driver shaft to try. Blue M0, as a not-inexpensive otto-phlex attempt. It should be here next week. I am eager to try it. I also made an offer on a set of Hogan Apex 99 irons on the Bay, which much to my surprise was accepted. I have wanted to try these blades for a long time. The 9 iron does not match, but at the price I don't mind. I can find single clubs easier than whole sets. I am pumped for these! Pics to come upon arrival!
  19. I have not done this. My coach has had me sometimes point my alignment line at a 45* angle (forward/right) to encourage me to swing inside out, but pointing at the target also makes so much sense. I will try it! Good suggestion.
  20. THIS ADVERT HAS EXPIRED!

ITEM FOUND. I was unable to find a method to delete the ad. The title says it all. Looking for a set of these classic irons in good condition. Ideally in 4-E, but a club less on either end would not be a deal killer. Thank you in advance for looking!
