  1. Remember, @3Putt4Double, you asked to go down this wormhole. Lots of us already have! First, the AutoFlex reviews are here: And, the famous Otto-Phlex thread is here:
  2. Even those of us who have been golfing forever get into bad habits. I was coming over the top something fierce earlier this year, as many of you read about and saw in some swing vids, and struggled to fix it as it had become engrained. I had a few of those dreaded s*****l marks on my driver as a result. They could have been dents if my swing were only slightly worse! Thanks to my coach, and some good help on the sly from @cnosil, I got it fixed. For now? Lol. (Oh, and also help from @chisag! This forum rocks.) So it happens to many of us, and happened to nearly all of us when we were beginning. It's also fixable!
  3. Hey @Aj M! Welcome to the forum! Can you share a photo or two of the dents?
  4. Happy anniversary @Javs! Sending you good wishes @Rob Person!
  5. Good morning spies! There’s a lot going on in this forum! Good to see. FABWIFE and I are considering checking out a golf and country club nearby. We joined a private club for one year about a decade ago and did not like it. This is a different club, supposedly with a different vibe. Not sure it’s our thing but it would be nice to have access to a great course that is less crowded and a good restaurant nearby. FABWIFE is excited about the pool also. We shall see. Is anybody reading this in Cleveland and willing to help out a fellow spy with a golf club local pick up then ship? Unicorn clubs (for me) came available and the seller will not ship. I bagged! I hope everyone has a fabulous day!
  6. Thanks for all the hard work and for the mid-season tourney. I am in!
  7. Date 07/07/2024 Course Name Salt Creek Gross Score 78 Course Rating 70 Course Slope 129 Gross Strokes over/under par 7 Net Score to Par 7 Birdies or better 1 Longest Drive 271 69.5/129 With a sore back, I had to play smart golf and club up some, and it seemed to work I am happy with 29 putts. Wish I would have made a few more birdie putts, but I never did adjust fully to the slow greens. It was a beautiful day with good friends, some new. Very glad to have had the opportunity. *I don’t think this is posting correctly. This should show as net even or better.*
  8. @fixyurdivot nice work on the PB! @Indy_Oz solid round! Lots of good play around here this weekend. Hoping it rubs off for me this afternoon!
  9. The longer irons can definitely be tougher to hit. A few suggestions to try. First, tee the ball up slightly and see if that helps feel. Try to hit down on the ball, ball then ground. Sometimes those simple things can provide to me the feel I seek and lead to better strikes without the tee too. Good luck!
  10. I bought this for my daughter last year and she really likes hers. She is also athletic so we got hers in A flex. Add a driver and putter and maybe a FW wood and good to go! https://www.golfworks.com/maltby-m890-combo-pak-maltby-m890-lt/p/pma0321cs/ Best of luck to your daughter!
  11. We sadly got rained out after only 6 holes this morning. It was a bummer bc it was the only chance for one of my best golf buddies to play for several busy weeks before and after. It was also likely my last chance to post a VCT score this week. At least we got full rainchecks. And the course was beautiful. Next time will hopefully be very soon.
  12. @Preeway I want to golf like you when I grow up! Great shooting! @cksurfdude your descriptions are pretty funny. Hope you get dry skies and redemption tomorrow.
  13. @TylorJudd That is stunning. Thank you for sharing the pics!
  14. Congratulations testers! Lots of eyes on this one!
  15. Had a good lesson this evening, focusing on tempo and a smooth transition. I tend to get quick in the backswing and in transition, which throws off sequencing badly. It's amazing how difficult it is to slow down after the quickness sets in! Lots of long transition pause drills in my future. These also help me ensure my right leg stays in the correct position and doesn't straighten. Good progress today which I hope to be able to implement effectively.
  16. Can you help me analyze the risk-reward of buying a lighter iron shaft? My current gamer iron shafts are Project X LZ 6.0 which weigh 120 grams. I try to play my irons at or around D2. I think it's time to shift to graphite for several boring reasons. I know 105g also works for me in an iron shaft. A couple years ago I was fit into 105g shafts, but resisted going lighter b/c of stubbornness, and due to unrelated performance issues. (Digression: despite paying *outrageous* prices to Club Champion for the irons, at only +1/2" in length Club Champion was unable to swing weight them properly. At the time I foolishly blamed the lighter shafts for the poor performance rather than the terribly low swing weight. It still stings. Rant over.) I tested and found a shaft I really like at 105g. However, reshafting all my irons will be an expensive endeavor if I go that route. Sooo . . . I found a much less expensive set of good condition shaft pulls in the same model, but at 95g per shaft. This will save me $100+ if I buy the pulls. Is it likely that 10g weight difference will matter much in my swing if the swing weights are consistent? My gut tells me I should spend the extra hundo and rest easy. My brain wants to save the money. Help!? TLDR: Is saving $100+ worth the risk of buying a set of iron shafts 10g lighter than proven winners?
  17. Hope you love it! And let’s go play and grab @CudaKota66.
  18. Hey Oz! I have mine in-hand. Loving it so far and still dialing in. Hope you get yours fast!
  19. Agree with @azstu324. Once you dial it in, you can - if you like - buy a Cally weight kit (Amazon or otherwise) and put heavier weights in the head. But nothing wrong with just using lead tape.
  20. Date 06/28/2024 Course Name Twin Lakes CC Gross Score 81 Course Handicap 9 Gross Strokes over/under par 9 Net Score to Par 0 Net Score 72 Net Birdies or better Longest Drive 70.9/128 Fun round. Up and down scores.
  21. Congratulations on the PB @Paul Hedrick! That's a great score.
  22. Good morning Spies! Semding prayers for your family @RichL85. No golf for me today. Looking forward to a round at a new course Friday morning. Work promises to be nuts until then. Great day wishes to you all.
  23. I have been doing some driver testing. All of a sudden one of my most trustworthy shafts is yielding spinny slicey shots on any swing with some effort behind it. This is very uncharacteristic for this shaft, and if I hit the same heads with similar shafts I do not experience the same thing. I began to fault the grip. But it looks and feels brand new, and is solidly attached to the shaft (or so it seems). Yet it almost feels like there is slippage on impact. The adapter is showing some wear on the upper cog. See the pic below. The adapter is not swiveling on the head in its entirety; the epoxy still holds. Any chance the adapter cog is allowing the head to turn open a bit at impact based on this wear and tear? Or am I crazy blaming the club/adapter and not my swing? I don't think I am crazy. (But then, most loonies don't . . ..) I plan to pull the adapter and replace it and see if that fixes the problem. If that doesn't work, I will replace the grip. If those together don't fix it, only the loon can be to blame. Nonetheless, I am curious if anyone else has experienced this and was able to identify the adapter as the problem. P.S. Yes, I know the cogs are not locked together in the photo, and no, I did not try to attach a head with the adapter in this configuration.
