  1. I laughed out loud at that MaGruber gif. Well done.
  2. I really don’t have an opinion on this timeless debate, other than to say that if the shaft manufacturer went to the trouble to identify a spine, there seems to be no harm in building the club to utilize it. But I don’t pay extra to have graphite shafts pured or floe’d or whatever anymore.
  3. Good morning Spies! I was away yesterday, but want to say big congrats to @Wheelieb on your meet with your bio-dad. Great to hear. I am up before everyone else enjoying listening to the rainstorm blow through. We can use the rain. After it heads for Ohio, I hope to get to the range for a bit, and will then likely lounge about with FABWIFE and the pups this afternoon. I wish you all wonderful Sundays!
  4. He does look happy doesn’t he? He may be moving this summer after all. Lol.
  5. After reading so many fawning reviews, I picked up a Callaway Paradym AI Smoke Triple Diamond Max 9° driver from GG. (My thumbs are tired from typing the name.) I have not yet had range time with it but have played 27 holes now and results have been excellent. I hope to get to the range later this morning to test some different shafts and dial in the weights. I am very excited about this driver and its combination of distance and forgiveness. Also, several of you have heard me rave about the results I get with my vintage Hogan wedges in my backup set. After playing that set again Friday, and holing out from 30 yards with a sand wedge and hitting a bunch more close, I picked up two more vintage Hogan wedges to try in my gamer set. Both for less than the cost of one of my Cleveland wedges (which will fight to stay in the bag). These are eBay pics; will post more when the wedges are in-hand.
  6. I’m late in checking this thread, but wanted to say you may like the stock shaft. I found it to be excellent. And such a great club too. Gorgeous!
  7. I confirmed on the Golfworks site. The Maltby shafts are frequency tested to find the spine. For a righty, hold the shaft in your hands and align one line with your hands (on top of the shaft or in line with the clubface top line) and the other line with clubface direction, and you have the spine. Turn the shaft 180° if you want the logo down and you have still aligned the spine. You are absolutely correct though about losing spine alignment if you change the adapter settings. We needed that in our swing thoughts didn’t we?
  8. I believe the Hogan Sure-Out sand wedge was one of, if not the very first of this kind. Callaway eventually acquired the design from Hogan and may still make a sure-out club. I played with the Hogan sure-out on Friday in my backup set. I like it so much I just bought another to put in the bag with my gamer irons. Easy to hit and excellent spin from grass.
  9. My Xcaliber shaft came pured, and if I am not mistaken, Maltby/Golfworks are also pured before purchase. @slay4klay did you see a white and red line at the butt end of the Maltby shaft?
  10. I played my vintage Hogans today, including the Sure-Out, a Sand Iron, and an Equalizer, all in Apex II vintage. I holed out with the Sand Iron from 40 yards. These wedges, still rusty and scratched, just work like magic. I am considering moving them to my primary kit!
  11. Those look amazing. I would love to know (taking into account shaft differences) relative distance, dispersion, back spin and side spin, and feel and sound. If you had the ability to compare to other premium blades that would also be fascinating. Thanks for sharing your results with the forum @obsidiangolf!
  12. Date 06/21/2024 Course Name Legends - Creek/Middle Gross Score 82 Course Handicap 9 Gross Strokes over/under par 10 Net Score to Par 1 Net Score 73 Net Birdies or better 0 Longest Drive 0 70.6/132 Played well on the front but the heat, and my failure to eat sufficiently, caught up on the back with a run of bogeys. Great fun and it’s good to be back. Played with the vintage Hogans backup set and loved it. The wedges continue to be magical.
  13. Lots of good rounds being discussed in here! Well done Spies!
  14. The new model is the GX. The Club Champion guys did a nice testing video on it and liked it. I also found several FX models for sale on eBay and other places if you look a bit and are patient. FWIW I think the M0 and M1 shafts feel similar enough that they can all be grooved in together. The M1 is the lightest flex available in the FX hybrid shafts but I still like it.
  15. I had the 21 DCBs for a while and they are very good clubs. They saw me through a few years of lessons and improvement. I eventually wanted to try some more workable and softer feeling irons. You will no doubt encounter this message a lot, but it’s true: definitely hit several varieties before buying, and a fitting with a good fitter will help immensely if you can swing it and find that good fitter. Good luck and let us know what you choose and how you got there!
  16. Those look great! Hope you love them.
  17. I have put Accra M1 shafts in my 3W and hybrids to match up with my M0 driver shaft, and found better consistency and slightly better distance. I also favor the similar feel across the longer clubs.
  18. Great test and great results!! Not even close. i don’t know about irons, but I have had similar success with FW woods and hybrids!
