  1. We have a top tracer range here. It is $15 for 100 balls. The range recently swapped out most of the bad balls for new ones, so it isn’t too bad a deal.
  2. Beyond the inherent good looks, I think these irons, and others like them, are best described as aspirational. As in, I aspire to raise my game to the level requisite to play them regularly. I’ve held onto the Mizuno player’s distance irons I was gaming, in the event I need a parachute, but I am motivated to work on consistently striking these well. It’s a work in progress, and we’ll see how it ends up, but for now I am enjoying the chase.
  3. Congratulations testers! Now the fun begins, enjoy it!
  4. Good Morning All, For those of you golfing today, play well! Enjoy it! For those of you like me, not playing today, fear not! We will play again! Have a great Tuesday!
  5. Yup. That’s what all of us are chasing. I’ve played a lot of different irons over the years, and I’ve experienced that feeling from time to time on the course. It’s what keeps me coming back
  6. With the main Garsen review completed, I am now working up a testing plan to pit the apex mbs and the zx7s against one another for a spot in the bag. Tonight I was hitting the mb 6 iron into my net. I didn’t use the Rapsodo because I wasn’t really concerned with the numbers, only the feeling. There is something cathartic about clearing one’s mind and solely focusing on tempo. The slow takeaway, pause at the top, and the rapid acceleration as the club glides forward to meet the ball in crisp, clean contact. A purely struck iron shot is a little like getting buzzed or high for the first time, you spend the rest of your life chasing that feeling. It’s ecstasy when you center it and it hardly feels as though you have hit it at all and utter agony when you catch it fat or thin, off the toe or the heel. Because you have felt perfection before, you are compelled to continue hitting balls chasing that feeling. Hit one center, alright can you do it twice, how about 3 times? I fully understand these types of clubs aren’t for everyone, and yes, there is a certain amount of masochism at play here, but chasing that feeling makes me want to hit 500 balls a day until my hands bleed and I can’t lift my arms anymore, if only to feel perfection in a golf shot.
  7. Good Morning All, I hope you all had good weekends and that this week doesn’t treat you too poorly before we can get to the next one. Have a great day!
  8. I picked up a set of used ZX7s recently, because I was looking for a forged iron and the price was right. I didn’t know a lot about Srixon clubs prior to that. I have been blown away with how easy they are to hit and how well they perform. I would recommend them to any and all.
  9. I suffer from a similar affliction. Swinging a standard grip feels like I am strangling a pencil. One other note, not all midsize or jumbo are the same size and it varies from manufacturer to manufacturer and even model to model.
  10. It has become my morning dose of optimism and inspiration. Thank you for starting it!
  11. You can do your due-diligence with a google search and ask other players for their advice, but ultimately it boils down to preference and performance. The only sure fire way I’ve found to determine that is trial and error. For example, it took playing a season with Winn Dri-tacs for me to decide they weren’t for me. The same goes for size. The charts available are merely guidelines, as all that matters is how they perform for you. My example here would be the jumbo max grips, I put one my driver, and while the size fit and wasn’t an issue, I found they also removed the “feel” from my hands during the swing, so I was able to cross them off the list of potential grips for me.
  12. Good morning on a rainy Sunday. No golf scheduled today, so let it rain. Wishing everyone the peaceful, relaxing Sunday of their choosing.
  13. With the final review posted, one of my takeaways from the testing period, is the nightly putting contest between the 3 grips had a positive effect on my overall putting. With that in mind I will running a new contest over the next month. The MAX and the Ultimate will be returning and I’ll be introducing a new competitor, A Odyssey Tour Line Eleven, that just arrived today. The only decision left will be whether I get a MAX or an Ultimate to put on it, as the OEM grip is awful. More to come…
  14. I picked up a set of used ZX7 4-AW with the modus xstiff shaft about a month ago. I have been putting them through their paces against the Mizuno JPX 923 HMP that are my current gamers and another used set of Callaway Apex MB 18s that I picked up for a song. Of the 3 sets of irons, I like the zx7s the best, as they are most consistent of the 3. Plus the feel is phenomenal and the v sole does seem to help with turf interaction. I think you’re really going to like those irons.
  15. The going rate for 100 balls is $15 here. The range has top tracer launch monitors attached to the bays, so it helps to justify the cost
  16. Congrats on the PB! That is awesome!
  17. In honor of the MGS crew playing in the Pinehurst area this weekend, I felt it only fitting to play the following course at the Top Tracer Range: Have the greatest weekend ever!
  18. Sorry to hear this. I am grateful that your daughter and the pup made it through relatively unscathed. And more than a little aggravated by the lack of personal responsibility on the pit bull owner’s part.
  19. Good Morning All, On the way to the groomers for the dogs to drop them off, then it’s a range session while I wait, followed by a pool party for the oldest’s soccer team. A busy but good day to come. Have a great day! And if you get a chance, I posted the following:
  20. This was my drive of the round last night. It isn’t very often that I have an 8i in for my second shot on a par 5. I’ve been on a good wave of golf lately, and drives like this one are, admittedly, a lot of fun.
  21. At $699.99, this isn’t likely to make it to “What have you bought lately?” but, This is ridiculous, how good this club looks: The triple diamond in night mode may haunt my dreams for a bit, or at least until I stumble upon my next infatuation…
  22. Good Morning All, It’s Friday, there is absolutely no reason not to make it a great day! Let’s get after it! Oh and shameless self-promotion dictates I mention a final review posted for a certain putter grip. Have a great Friday!
  23.
