  1. I can’t say that it does. I’m really just now starting to meet more members as I am much more active than over the last year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Finished practice session for tonight. Did a PuttOut trainer “gauntlet”. The idea is to make a perfect putt where the ball stays in the pop out target on the PuttOut ramp. Anything that hits the hole and returns is a “made putt” but not perfect, anything that ramps off a side or misses the target is a “miss”. The gauntlet is to make a perfect putt at each 1ft increment from 1ft to 6ft. I did this to both get some practice in and to compare the LeanLock to my current Strokelabs One putter. The results were 63 total putts with the LeanLock to complete the gauntlet with a total make percentage of 85.71% vs 43 total putts with the Strokelabs One with a make percentage of 93.03%. Total stats in the picture below (sorry for the horrible handwriting, I like to take handwritten notes during practice sessions). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. UPDATE: UnBoxing and First Impressions So the LeanLock came in! It was a day late due to some UPS Shenanigans, but that is not uncommon at my current residence. The Box was undamaged, and everything was nicely packed with paper to keep things padded and safe en route. Well done, nothing bad to say about the experience at all. I was happy to see it arrive, unfortunately, it was right after a round of golf, and right before I went out of town for Labor Day. The good news is this, Brian over at LeanLock wants you to really dive into the mechanics of this thing, and putting, before you get into using it. Hence, the book: The book came in a little bent due to the paper packing materials, but that's a minor issue. The book lays out not just the how, but the why of LeanLock and what Brian aims to do. Again, he is looking to address putting holistically, looking at every part of the putting stroke. The book lays out the grip and stroke, which is good, becasue this putter is less than intuitive. We will get into that more later. For now, let's get back into getting this thing unpackaged. After getting through the paper and the plastic, you are greeted with a large black grip that is fairly soft and tacky. Some may not like that in a putter grip, but it suits me just fine. The next is the headcover. My inital thoughts here were that it looked great! The white with red and black is a nice combo. Then I removed the plastic. To say I am less than impressed with the headcover is a mild understatement. The material feels like a kind of coated leather. I would guess it is either a vinyl coated split or it's a lower quality synthetic. Unforetunately, I am in the footwear business, and this feels like a material that is not going to wear well, especially in humid or wet weather. The second issue is the closure. Maybe it's just me, but velcro closures are not what I expect on a premium product or a product that is in that $250+ price range. The good news here is twofold: One, there is an excuse for a new headcover, two things improve from here! Once you get into the actual putter, things look better. You are greeted with a nice looking black finish, with a clean, milled face. The milling looks well done, decently aggressive, and no burrs or obvious machinging errors (at least to my untrained eye) From address, you have a nice line down the center, and it looks like a standard anser style blade. This is a positive for me. If I am focusing on an entire new putting method, a headshape I am used to and comfortable with is key to me. The final thing to talk about is branding. LeanLock is everywhere on this thing. The grip, the inset on the back of the face, the shaft, the sole, and three times on the headcover. It's everywhere. I get wanting to make sure that people see what the brand is, becasue trust me, people ask when you bring this thing out, it just feels like a bit...much. Personal opinion, at the end of the day, it doesn't effect how this performs. Speaking of performance, since I was stuck at home with no practice facilities, I worked on one of my favorite drills: take a yardstick, put a ball on it, and roll the ball so that it stays on the yardstick. I like to put a puttout at the end as well. Here is my first roll with the LeanLock: IMG_4942.MOV Is it perfect? Oh God no. But I can say, i kept the ball on line time after time, getting offline maybe one out of ten. Can I get it to translate into performance on course? We will find out soon. SCORES: Pre-Arrival: 10/10 Brian was great to work with, and the information you get from time of order in the form of videos is phenomanal. Above and beyond in my opinion. Unboxing: 9/10 No major issues, Book got bent up due to paper being shoved on top of it. Initial Impressions:7/10 This one is a mixed bag, while the putter itself seems to be good quality, the amount an prominence of branding was a little offputting to me. The headcover is a disappointment. Coming Soon: After Order Support Practice Facility performance On Course Performance
  4. I have actually come to prefer my T23's to my previous Vokeys. Hopefully these stand up, I may switch all of my wedges to these next season.
  5. Morning All! Sunny and 60 degrees this morning, high around 80. Thankful for that after 100 plus all last week. Quitting work early around noon to get out and play 18 before the holiday and my home club closing the course for the week after. Probably my last round for about 12 days, but I'll be ditching most of my electronics until Monday, so that will be nice! Hope everything goes well with your wife @sirchunksalot (just saw she's in recovery, great news!)! Have a great long weekend everyone!
  6. Had a great conversation with Brian yesterday morning! He really wants people to succeed and you can tell he wholeheartedly believes in his product. Really looking forward to trying this out!
  7. Introduction: Good Morning Fellow Spies! I am incredibly excited to be selected for testing for LeanLock, mostly because it's new and, frankly, a little weird. I love weird and alternate solutions to a problem most of us have; namely, rolling putts pure and square. As for myself, my name is Curtis, 35, out of Saint Charles, MO. I live here with my wife and cat, no kids yet. I am part owner and Vice President of a small company, and proudly represent the 4th generation of family ownership as I am purchasing the company from my Father-in-Law. I bounced around several years in college, attending UMSL and Lindenwood University before deciding that I did not want to go into debt to complete a degree. I have since worked in sales of several varieties, as I took classes here and there to round out my education. My Game: You could say I found golf after coming from other, slightly more... intense activities. I have a history in swimming, scuba diving, backpacking, competitive dance, various other watersports, etc. After multiple injuries, including three Kevlar anchors in my left shoulder and 2/3 of the cartilage being removed from my left knee, I decided I needed to pursue something challenging that wouldn't tear me up quite so much. My father-in-law convinced me to get back into golf, and I was hooked. I not only started playing again, we made the decision to join a private club near my work so that I could play and practice regularly. I am currently playing at a 23-22 index down from 32 after my most recent injury last year. My goal is to be down to a 20 by the beginning of next season. Putting is something holding me back in that goal, while my speed and direction are usually good, my reading needs work and I have a tendency to get inconsistent when frustrated, tired, or my left shoulder gets sore. How I Plan to Test: You could say the testing for this putter has started already. There is a multitude of information on the LeanLock website to review, including how to set up with this new concept of putting, putting concepts, and common issues. Brian Tennyson, the creator of this method, wants you to succeed whether it is with his putter or not. I will be starting with working on setup, following Brian's instruction, at home. Followed by extensive testing on the practice greens at my club. Finally, I will be playing several rounds with the Leanlock as my primary putter over the next several weeks. At home and in the practice areas, I will be comparing it to my current gamer, an Odyssey Strokelabs One. Especially from the 1-3 and 3-6 foot ranges, where I commonly get myself into trouble on the course. Expectations: Brian Tennyson makes a lot of claims about his LeanLock putter and concept, and has been adamant in conversations that if you do your part to follow his instructions, your putting will improve. From a physiological standpoint, it makes sense, and I expect to see a consistent performance in keeping the putter face square and in a consistent path. It is my hope that this method will relieve tension on my left (lead) arm and eliminate my dreaded "scuff" miss. I think Brian would agree that this won't help me read greens any better though! I am going in with high expectations on the method. If this can bring my average 3-putts down from 6 to about 4, it would earn a spot in my bag. I ordered the PN blade version of this, as I prefer an Anser style putter. I will be honest, the website pictures are not great, and I am hoping the end product looks and feels like the quality expected from a $250-300 putter from bigger brands. I understand that products often don't photograph particularly well (I see it a lot in my business), so I am holding out on any final determinations on that front. Ordering went smoothly, and I spoke with Brian Monday morning, and he built and shipped the putter withing 2 hours of speaking with him. Unboxing and Initial Impressions Update Here: Practice Session Posts:
  8. I wish they would have, but that yellow was going to end up with the race ending under SC. No way they recovered Zhou and got racing going in 9 laps at Zandvoort in the rain.
  9. I have some athletic tape in my bag that I throw on when that starts to happen mid round. As APH said, lighten up the grip and even wipe my hands with a towel before swinging if it's a super hot day.
  10. Good luck, hopefully it isn't anything major!
  11. Happy Friday everyone. Spending the morning working on mortgage paperwork for a new home build that we will hopefully get started soon. Golf tentatively on the schedule for Sunday, finally!
  12. Good Morning all! Still stupidly hot, and covering for vacations, so still haven't made it out. Looks like we should be getting better weather next week, so will have to make up for it then! Our main course is getting Champions Tour treatment for September 5-10th, so it is playing more difficult than normal, excited to test myself with that.
  13. It's going to be hot all week, heat index is already over 100 at 9AM. Unfortunately means no golf at all this week.
  14. Had an 5-hour workshop this morning, saw 7% chance of rain and low 80 degrees temps, so took the top off the Bronco. Walked out of my meeting with the realization I was going to have to drive through rain to get back home to get the top back up and windows in. First rain drive was going to have to happen sometime, but was not prepared this morning. Also, adding another vote for Ublock Origin and Privacy Badger. Add in Facebook container as well, gets rid of most everything.
  15. Shot a 93 on our championship course. They have started work for the Champions Tour tournament happening in less than a month, so pins were tough and greens were fast and hard. All things considered, I’m pretty happy with that score. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Well as poorly as I played Tuesday, I did the opposite today. Went out for 9 before work and shot a personal best 42. Highlights include spending 2 minutes looking for a ball that was on a green I have never hit on an approach shot and sinking a ~25-foot putt for par on a tough hole.
  17. I picked up the Titleist T300's I was fit for this afternoon. Brought my bag home to get it cleaned up and set up new clubs. Also added in a Srixon ZX Utility 4 w/ a Recoil shaft to try out. Hit it well on the course yesterday, going to play 9 tomorrow before work to try out the new irons. If it isn't a mud pit after all the rain today.
  18. Not well, had some OB shots on the first two holes before I settled, only to hit some shots significantly longer than I normally would resulting in missed greens. 54 on a 9 I expect to shoot in the low to mid 40's. Got home and an hour later got an email that my new irons were delivere, so I missed them by probably 15 minutes.
  19. My wife and I got tired of it and went to a concierge doctor earlier this year. We have 24 hour access to our doctor, appointments same day if needed, and physicals are scheduled for 60 minutes and can be extended. It's a little extra annually, but if you need more than a 20-minute physical each year, we feel it's worth it. Best part is they limit their patient load, so she only has about 50 total patients and no one is pushing for increased volume.
  20. Good morning everyone! Taking a day recovering from driving to Kansas City from Saint Louis to take the wife to see Ed Sheeran. Coffee and cinnamon rolls, then going to talk to a builder to see about starting a home in a new development. Should be a fun day. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. I’ve been playing the pro soft the last few rounds. It’s been a great feeling ball as I’m getting ,y swing speed back to where it should be. Gamed the pro plus before my shoulder injury and it was great as well, definitely better around the greens. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  22. Volcom Frickin Modern Chino's have been my go to pant for a while. I have issues with a lot of the modern pants because I have "popeye" calves (in the words of my sister's kids) and these actually fit without strangling my leg or making everything north of my knee look like it's in a muumuu.
  23. Good Morning all, heavy rain today, but finally bringing some cooler temps. Hoping my new irons come in today, so I can take tomorrow afternoon off and get a round in before I head out of town for a few days.
  24. Currently gaming an Oddysey Strokabs One, really like the balance on it and I get good feedback from it even though it’s soft off the face insert. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
