My rant...bloody cars. Chanin's Rav has been making a squeaking noise for the past 6 months and no amount of my getting under it and shaking things can point me to what it is.
Being an 02 with 112,XXX on it, I thought the shocks may have been the culprit, so I ordered new fronts and rears last week. I put the rears on yesterday morning, snapping the lower passengers bolt in the process. I got the rest of the bolt out using an easy out (YAY, they don't normally work for me) ran down to O'Reilly's but they didn't have the right one. Went to Lowes armed with the correct bolt info and got one there for the princely sum of $1.64. Back home, got everything buttoned up, backed it out of the driveway to take it for a test drive and the squeak was still there.
I got out and gave it a good shake, could still hear the squeak. Got Chanin to rock the car (c'mon, it's a Rav 4 not my truck) while I got under it to try and finally pinpoint the noise...I did. The rear passengers spring is broken right at the top perch.
So, now I need to order new rear springs for the damn thing.
