  1. i know you were joking. I want to play well, but I don't take bad scores that personally. It is part of the game. Yes, ESC was taken into consideration; The Grint app automatically handles that for you and counted it as a 7 for handicap purposes.
  2. Been working on my short pitch shots to make solid contact and not blade the ball. Kind of 50/50ish on how I am doing. Hope if comes around a bit before my golf league round on Thursday.....or that I hit all the greens
  3. shouldn't, but you have to understand how to adjust since all greens are different speeds. I have a baseline putt that goes X distance. Whenever I am on the practice green, I see how close the speed is to my baseline and then adjust based on the distance I am rolling the ball on that green.
  4. I enjoy the nature aspect of golf as well. I enjoy my winter and mid day summer rounds since the course is generally empty and I can take my time and just enjoy being outside. Don't care about the music as I can still play with the music, but prefer to listen to birds, the wind, etc.
  5. Not that painful, I know I did it to myself. I truly thought I could hit that shot and not hit the ball into the water.
  6. Thanks, definitely a mental thing. i am sure I have some technique things, but once I hit a bad one it just gets me off my game.
  7. No birdies on the day. Wasn't unhappy with the rest of the round, just my short game. Here is the situation. Playing skins with 4 others and the hole is a 553 yard par 5 playing downwind. Hit great drive and I am about 250 out from the green. All the other players hit poor second shots. I pull 5 iron to basically layup and avoid trouble, but listened to one of my playing partners who said that I should see if I can reach in two. Stupid me switches to 3 wood. I end up hitting the 3 wood fat and with and open face and push the ball right into the water. Drop puts me 150 out. Played for the middle but ended up flying the green by about 20 feet. Blade the chip shot into the bunker on the other side of the green. Leave next shot in the bunker. Hit 2nd shot from bunker to 10 feet. 2 putts for a solid 9.
  8. Missed 2 fairways and hit 9 greens and I end up shooting 44-43=87. 3 holes contributed to most of is the issues where I had a quad and 2 doubles. The doubles were the result of OB shots and the quad was the result of a ball in the water and some horrible shot game play. Was generally swinging the club well, but just couldn't convert when I missed the green. I really need to do something about my short game. Today I ended up hitting the ball thin several times. I am pretty sure I am flipping my hands resulting in my hitting the middle of the ball. Right now at a total loss on what to do. I drop balls on the chipping green and hit them well; just can't execute on the course. It is so frustrating especially since the other aspects of my game are working pretty well
  9. Played the first round playoff match of my companies golf league. We one the match and are now the highest remaining seed with only 2 of the top 8 seed remaining We were the third seed. Finished the 9 hole round at 4 over. 3 of the 4 bogeys were a direct result of missing the green and not being able to get up and down. The 4th was a 3 putt from about 60 feet. Overall was pretty happy , Just need to spend some quality time with my wedges
  10. Don't do then "betting" aspect but that is my wait on the tee box routine. Unfortunately, my short game has only gotten marginally better. I really need to take some time and really do some focused work on my 50 yards and in game.
  11. The world of little league and travel team sports is just crazy.
  12. I haven't had that problem with impact tape on a putter. But another option would be foot powder like people use for full swing. You could also put band-aid on you putter to feel the mishits.
  13. Guess it is all about timing to get the empty range. I Never thought about using the range that way but it is great for working on pitches
  14. Wish I had that kind of time to dedicate to practicing. Also wish I had someplace close that has a great practice area. I do know of someplace, but I doubt I could get a key to the MGS testing facility.
  15. I have been a fan if the bionic gloves for a long time. Form me they also seem to have a longer life than other gloves
  16. Happy with how I played overall; iron play, chipping, and putting were good. Been struggling off the tee and it resulted in a couple of big numbers that really hurt my score. One I decided to layup off the tee since the hole was downwind and I have a tendency to hit through the fairway. Ended up snap hooking the tee shot under a bush in a waste area; carded a double. Other big number was the result of another snap hook requiring a chip back into the fairway; after a couple of less than great shots I ended up with a triple. Fairways hit has dropped down to the 50% range the past few weeks from the 70% range. Definitely frustrating; been seeing a lot of discussion about shortening driver shafts so I am toying with the idea of cutting down my backup driver to see how it works.
  17. I ground my clubs as well. Tried hovering, but never really saw a difference.
  18. I agree, no DH. Also, you don't have to worry about a DH being a defensive liability. But you are correct, I have learned There are some topics that I don't even get involved in discussing. Generally they happen after dinner, I just get up, clear the table, and wash dishes.
  19. Of course. Part of the challenge is to be able to turn on the focus when it is your turn to hit.
  20. Nope. I play the game improvement 355. I tried both the 5 and 7 when I participated in the most wanted. Been to long to give a side by side comparison I liked the 565 better but the shafts weren't really my favorite and I had low launch angle with them. Both solid drivers would just need to be properly fit.
  21. I use the Grint mostly for the handicap/stat tracking aspect. It does have GPS functionality and is free.
  22. Sorry to hear about your transaction. Have read on other forums that he did the same things. Seems like some deals went well and others haven't. Unfortunately, MGS and other forums don't have any responsibility for transactions. If you used paypal, you might have some protection.
  23. Fun day of golf yesterday; got to meet fellow MGS members RexS and Carolina Golfer 2. It was supposed to be a 36 hole day but the temps were upper 90s and some played 18 others 27 and others up to 36. Was an up and down day for me with 3 birdies but also a couple of doubles, triple and the dreaded quad. I think CG2 was the smart one only playing 18; I ended up playing 52 holes; I had to take a couple of holes off due to the heat. Playing golf with golf with fellow spys is just fun!
