  1. Yes but we live in a tropical climate. It’s very scary to be down a foot of rain for the year in mid August. We always end up close to normal. The H word is certain to be on the horizon at this point.
  2. The last two balls that I've used already have a line on them. I do use the line and I do aim it at an intermediate target. I'm far more focused on the target than the line though.
  3. This truly is a budgetary question first and foremost. If you need the trade in or resale dollars to purchase a new set of irons then it matters. If you don’t, just pick up a set of something a little less gamey to see you through. Life has stages, I played lots of golf early, Ram Tour grinds (muscle backs), moved to Ping Eye 2’s through the early childhood elementary years with my children’s d they helped me hold my game together while I had less time to play. Nicklaus pro combos were an incredible set from my late 40’s to mid 50’s. I played really well with them. Now it’s PD clubs. i did think that I read that you’ve never hit those irons well. I think the PXG gen 5’s are a great option and a wise move on your part if you can only own 1 set.
  4. So played for the first time in over 2 weeks. Started double, par, par, double. Shot 38 for the nine. Heat index was 115 when we started. First raindrops when I got to the car and pouring by the time I got home. So needed
  5. Thanks everyone and I’m being very careful. In regards to climate change there’s too much conflicting data to begin to know what will really happen in 2050. I’d just say each we need to fo our best to take care of our planet and leave it at that. Particularly here.
  6. I have a phone. I have no desire to receive notifications on the watch. If I couldn’t turn tg off it would be a non-starter. I could easily receive 50 emails, texts and Facebook messages during a round of golf. A normal 4 hour non Sunday afternoon time period would be 20-25
  7. One last question from me - I'm assuming you can turn the notifications off? Being a Pastor I receive communications 24/7. Wearing a device where they pop up would stink and it would be all the worse if it were the device I was using as my golf GPS.
  8. Excellent - thanks - I also have a heart issue and would like to know what’s happening at night,
  9. Great job guys - you are making me think that this one may not wait for Santa. I may request it as a gift from the birthday boy bird. Actually I have a writing project due in a couple of weeks where the honorarium will almost cover the cost. Throw in an upcoming wedding and funeral and I would be there. So please keep up the good work. How does the watch know what club you are hitting, btw? You may have mentioned it but I haven't picked up on it yet. I only have experience with devices that use probes. Also if you are using it to monitor vitals while sleeping when do you charge it? Do you take a night off once a week or at some sort of interval based on how long it holds a charge? Thanks
  10. I have to pause here and thank you and your family for your brother's service and sacrifice. My son served 81/2 years in the Navy much of them in combat zones. This was always our fear of course. Thank you so much and prayers for peace and comfort for you all and that all of us would live our lives worthy of his sacrifice.
  11. I know that folks in Texas have experienced this also, it was been an absolutely brutal six weeks in Florida. Many of our days have had excessive heat warnings and our rain fall, which had almost made it back to normal has once again fallen 10 inches below, not good at all in a tropical climate because there's nothing to temper the heat and we always end up around the same rain amounts. My experience is that if it doesn't come during the rainy season we get hammered by a tropical storm or two (sometimes a hurricane.) At any rate with this heat I had a heart event early last week - some of you may recall that I have an irregular heartbeat called SVT. It means my heart is subject to beating very fast, over 200 beats per minute and that at times I'm unable to get it back to normal myself. I had an ablation about 6 years ago, lost 45 pounds (I've get 25 off) and its been under control. Thankfully I was able to self correct it because they treatment at the ER is brutal (they give me a medicine that stops my heart completely). My doctor does not want me playing golf when the heat index is in the warning zone. I haven't played a round in two weeks and only been out hitting into the net for 30 minutes or so in the evening. It's killing me because I have these new irons in the bag that I want to try and I have the 9 hole Tuesday league that I play in - he said no to that if the heat index is over 105. I've got a tee time for Sunday afternoon - there's a 50 percent chance of rain which means the clouds will hold the heat index down. This is really no fun. Do take care of yourselves if you live in warmer climates.
  12. I feel like we have a witness on trial here - so to @Zach1 we are trying to be helpful. Were you fittings all brand agnostic? Were they at a demo day? I'm stunned that someone fitting for Mizuno wouldn't use the shaft optimizer for it. In fact lots of iron fittings use that even if not fitting for Mizuno. It just seems like something is missing.
  13. I’m just curious if either used the Mizuno shaft optimizer? Particularly since you ended up in Mizuno irons.
  14. Great round! I have never agreed with the old adage. Having written that there are a number of ways to shoot a good score and many of them include good putting, 23 putts is great putting. Did you hole something from off the green also?
  15. Got them regripped earlier today with the dry tac LTs. Just hit a few seven irons into the net - it’s really the right grip for me. So much better on my arthritic hand joints. Lighter grip the ball was exploding off the club face. Can’t wait to try the driver with that grip.
  16. I recently went for a fitting where I ended up at 44.25. My smash factor went way up, my ball speed and distance a bit and my dispersion much better. Hitting it far more solidly than before. The sad thing is that I was "fit" for my previous two drivers into the stock length. I even asked my fitter on both occasions if he didn't think shorter might be better for me (I've been fit before to something between 44 and 45.) It seems that different fitters have different opinions on this matter. I'm settled in on needing under 45 for certain. I always eventually get into trouble when I'm at 45 or above. It's fine when I'm swinging well - we all know that story, right?
  17. Congrats guys! I will be looking forward to this one for certain.
  18. Well done - looks like we are moving into these for opposite reasons but are in the target groups. I’m the older single digit guy looking to keep some distance. I’ve been to the range once - had sone health issues last week that have slowed me down a bit. Hope to get at it again the end of this week. They are 1/2 shorter than my previous irons so that took a little getting used to. By the end of the session I was hitting beautiful baby fades with my 7 iron to a target 155 yards away. That’s very good distance for me with that club. I’m getting them regripped with Winn Drytech LTs tomorrow. Much better for my arthritic hands. Looking forward to reading more of your reviews. Here’s to more GIRs for both of us!
  19. Could be - it’s also I tweeting how relative this is. To me they feel heavier.
  20. Interesting, I also find that I’m more heel side with these. A little scary at first.
  21. I really love the recoils. I have the glide Eye 2 grind and I’m able to launch the Indi 56 higher with more stopping power if that bit of intel helps. I also find it easier to manage out of the sand.
  22. Very well - again my experience has not been this phenomenal amount of spin but I’m not a high spin guy. Great turf interaction even as it’s gotten very wet here, tremendous distance control on all kinds of shots. I’m very pleased with them around the greens.
  23. I have them in my Indi’s - they replaced what I have in the D7 forged Wilson’s
  24. As I got in the car after work my ring camera went off. So this awaited me at the door of my house: Even Fluffy the cat was excited. We have had her as a three year’s ago promise to a dying person. She’s a cool cat. They are so sweet looking. What amazes me is that they have a very reasonable top line, fairly compact head, not much offset, but a healthy footprint. Just what the fitter ordered for my swing. I wasn’t able to get to the range this evening and didnt want my first swings to be into the net. So I’m hopeful I can get to the range after work tomorrow. Im supposed to play with LarryD Friday. Rain chances that day are low. So more to come soon…
  25. Best wishes on your recovery.
