  1. Thanks Trial&Error. looking ahead, is there a better option for the kneeling swings than the stability pro pad? Anyone try masonry knee pads?
  2. Thank you all. This has been a great thread, and the participation level has been an inspiration. I chose not to purchase the sticks last year because I don’t have the indoor space for off season workouts. Well now that spring has sprung and I can work outside, I sprang for the sticks and radar, purchasing from my pro shop. The pros at my club are universally enthusiastic about Superspeed. One added 12 mph on his driver SS last year, another added 9 mph. I asked about ball striking and possible negative effects of practicing an “all out” swing, and they basically said the same thing that has been said here, that ball striking actually improves. So far so good, entering my second week of the beginning protocol. Some days are better than others, but I have a good feeling about this project. I played on Saturday, with week one in the books, and I was shocked at how comfortable I was with the driver. I had no trouble with tempo or wildness. I wasn’t longer, but I was basically hitting my longest drives if that makes sense. Another way to say it may be that I didn’t hit any short drives, they were all well struck. i hope I stay healthy so I can get through these first six to twelve weeks. 8-12 mph would be pretty incredible. Thanks again for all the discussion, I would never have purchased these without reading through this thread.
  3. @02uwmadgrad Absolutely. Not complaining. I’m just relating that as I read the thread and weigh what appear to be the obvious effectiveness and benefits of the program against what I assess my ability to set aside the time (when I’ll have access to the space) over an extended period, I currently conclude that I will not be able to fulfill the protocol requirements. If my assessment changes, then I’m all in and will gladly purchase the system. In fact I’m considering an off-season program with a not-so-nearby facility that would include fitness, instruction, and SS equipment. Upside is the proper space and instruction. Downside is the commuting time and the cost. I think others are likely doing similar self assessments.
  4. @revkevI really like the point you make here. The discipline required to complete the program is definitely an obstacle. I have not purchased the system for that very reason.
  5. @Reesedw, I had nearly the same round as you today. I’m a 16 index, and went out in 50. Holes 9-17 I played at even par, two birdies, two bogeys. Tripled 18 with 2 shots in the water to finish with a 90. Holy Toledo!
  6. Looks like the z-star is back up to $40/dozen.
  7. Preserving the wife's sleep is key for me. I'm out of bed like a (middle-aged, 230 lb, uh) cat. Clothes and go-bag prepped the night before.
  8. If my wife were not awesome and support me in my golf avocation, I don't think I would enjoy a round. I'm blessed, lucky, just like many of you are too, to have a great marriage. Happy wife, happy life. My rounds per year have pretty much gone up as the kids have gotten older, this past year an exception due to work. I still try to be among the first groups out during the season, but since joining a club, that's around 7 am, not 5:45. A few extra zzzzs and not sleeping in the car @ Bethpage. That was a quality of life improvement. 6 more weeks of winter...
  9. We planted roughly a dozen each of Leland cypress and green giants along a potion of our property line about five years ago and holy moly, they have exploded in size. I'm going to have to get them cut back now severely, every year. I'd estimate that they are growing at least two feet vertically per year, and the Lelands really need to be shaped. I'm sure I'm not the first and the guys with green thumbs are thinking, “what the heck did you expect, dummy?”, but the growth has become exponential.
  10. I placed my order for 4 doz. I still have at least 3 dozen from my original order.... very good ball, especially for me, a guy who goes through bouts of spraying off the tee.
  11. I'm an infrequent contributor, yet basically daily reader of the forums. Until recently (to the best of my recollection), I haven't requested to participate in any testing for exactly the reasons others have stated. If I commit to something, I want to give my best, so if I anticipate that other commitments would prevent me from executing and reporting a high quality review, I don't bother with putting my name in the hat. I am amazed at the review opportunities that MGS has presented over the years. Very cool. Cheers!
  12. I've never asked although I assume it is probably a storage/logistics consideration rather than an on course issue. Most guys keep their bags at the club - I guess I can see that allocating additional space, hauling up bags and pushcarts as well as cleaning them all after the round, might be more trouble to get organized than the perceived member demand, especially seeing as the club doesn't really encourage walking.
  13. I prefer walking. It was one of the factors in selecting my club - that they permit walking (albeit carry only, no pushcarts). There are only a few of us here, the vast majority are riders, but we enjoy it and would not be happy if walking was banned.
  14. I have a Ping G sf tec driver & 3w on order. Surely SF technology will cure the swing flaws.;-) Hope springs eternal.
  15. I missed this brief story and MGS mention on a great local (Long Island) golf resource - if you want to know what a public course on LI is like, their writeups are great: http://www.golfonlongisland.com/teebox/2016/12/costcos-store-brand-golf-ball-is-the-tickle-me-elmo-of-golf-gear.html
  16. Glenmorangie - a few fingers with an ice cube. Very nice. Time to reflect, be grateful for all of life's blessings, and enjoy. Merry Christmas!
  17. It was a real mess trying to get an order in. Some how I wound up with qty 4 in the cart. Credit card was charged, and order received... we shall see. Now I just need to plan a golf trip next month so I'm not staring at them all winter! I was talking to a buddy last night about Streamsong. I've never been, but the website makes the place look like heaven on earth...
  18. I thought they operated on a cost + 10% model across the board. So typically high margin goods are really good deals, but low margin goods not so much.
  19. I received my 2 dozen and will take them to the course Friday and Saturday. I've been playing B330rx for most of this season and look forward to seeing how they compare. I should have the opportunity to play side by side shots.
  20. Ha! I'd been considering the same post. I played a round with someone who made the same claim. He hits every darn fairway, but said the driver had lost its liveliness and he no longer gets the distance he used to get. I would think that it's possible - slight deformations of the club head over time I would think could lead to changes in performance.
  21. Well, thank you. If you're ever coming up here, send me a message and we can make it happen.
  22. I've never seen an enclosed or heated cart at a public course where I am, but I guess you would have to in MN. Bethpage Black still is a walking-only course, and push/pull carts in my opinion are more trouble than they're worth there due to the bunkering, slopes, and rough around the greens. I played there Saturday, and 3 of us were carrying, and the fourth had a push cart that he wanted to abandon after the 6th hole. It's a beast of a walk, and I won't play it if I have any back issues at all. By the time I get to the 16th tee, I'm nearly spent, and that's when my back is feeling good. But when I'm done, it's exhilarating (in spite of the score I've carded!), and I always look forward to doing it again. Trump's new course in the Bronx is cart-path only I believe. I've only played it once and walked it - not too bad a walk really. Anyway, walkers are a minority, but I do feel walking adds to my enjoyment of the round and a feeling of accomplishment.
