  1. Unless you have a cart with an enclosure and heater, the only way to keep warm playing in our winters is to walk. I stay much warmer walking than I do riding in an open cart. You just learn to dress for it. We play year round even when it gets below freezing.
  2. Does this mean we are walking next Tuesday at Haggin Oaks/McKenzie? I have my Sun Mountain push cart in my trunk.
  3. What did that putter do to deserve being locked up in the closet?
  4. Excellent! Now that you broke 80, it is a lot easier to do it again and again. Sounds like you are trusting your swing and playing well. Keep it up. One of these days you will find the special round where the double and some of those bogeys don't happen.
  5. Its a big football weekend coming up. OSU vs. Michigan... Oh sorry, I should have said Oregon State University vs. Michigan; out west we are OSU. However, this could be a bad game for the Beavs. They won last week, but have a new coach and young players that haven't really played much. Couple that with Michigan losing last week, and being at home, I just hope OSU can hold their own. But who knows, we could be 2-0. As for MSU and Oregon, I have to root for anybody who plays against the Ducks. Sorry Mmmmmbuddy! Also, I have to like any team named the Spartans, because my High School team were Spartans. The Ducks can put up a lot of points, but their defense sucks worse than usual. I think this year the Ducks are going to lose a few games against teams that can also put up points. They should drop fairly soon from the rankings; probably a top 20 team this year.
  6. Sounds like you scrambled pretty well except for those three holes, so that's positive. If you can't trust your swing to put the ball where you think it should go, then it might be time to fly in your swing coach. #TourSauce
  7. If you expect a bad shot after bad shot, that's what you will get. Don't put so much pressure on yourself to hit a good shot, but always think you are going to hit a good shot; even if it isn't, still keep thinking it. Remember, we attract to ourselves whatever we give our attention, focus, and energy. If you have negative thoughts, bad things happen; positive thoughts bring about what we are focusing on.
  8. My wife came for a visit to my parent's house this weekend, and we got out and played. It was my first round in quite awhile. I drove the ball OK, but second, third and fourth shots were good at all. I managed to shoot 85 and beat my wife who shot 86, which tied her personal best. I was frustrated that the short game wasn't there, but I was happy to be out playing. Beautiful day!
  9. Go Beavs! If Oregon loses a game, I hope it is to Oregon State. The civil war is always a great game. New coach and a lot of new players this year, so who knows! I would like to think they will be above .500 and go to a bowl game. As for #1... anybody but someone from the SEC.
  10. Short off the tee? I hope not!!
  11. Isn't it amazing what a few more yards off the tee does for your scoring. I am pretty sure that if I had another 20-30 yards like I did when I started playing golf, I could be a 2-3 HCP now, whereas back then I was a 24 HCP.
  12. I expect to see mid-20's if you break 90
  13. I'm looking for that HCP to drop soon.
  14. I have found that it helps me be consistent at impact. The impact position is the same for all clubs.
  15. That's my swing model. Ball stays in one place and I vary the stance width based on club used by moving my back foot; narrow for wedges to wide for driver.
  16. Lots of Spanglish spoken here. It doesn't work either... ask Rueben.
  17. Great job mizuno_lover... er, ping_lover... no, mizuno_lover! Oh hell!
  18. No, I have the "Perfect Club" in the garage. and it's far from perfect! It's the only club that I can reliably hook off the course.
  19. I like TPC Scottsdale; it's not one of my favorites but it is fun to play. Played holes 15-18 at -1. Birdied the par 5 15th and parred in from there with a sandy on the stadium hole #16. I love watching the WM Phoenix Open because they always show the last 4 holes and I have fond memories of them.
  20. I am not so sure that it really matter that much for me. I have tried many club/shaft combos, and given a little time to get used to them I think they all would work. Obviously, an L flex and an X flex will have different results, but changing shafts within a certain range of flex, kick-point isn't going to instantly give me 20 yards. However, I still keep searching for that one anyway.
  21. I have been home from my parents house since last Sunday night, and my wife and I have played 9 holes every night after work this week. The first couple of days I hit the driver OK, but second shots sucked, and chipping was terrible. That's a typical result of a long layoff from from golf for me. Never made a birdie until last night! On Wednesday we played with the pro and two other guys. My wife made two birdies that night. She has been playing most every day after work for the past 3 weeks while I was gone. She plays 9 holes in a cart by herself in 53 minutes! Her game has really improved lately, and she is even using a putting tip I gave her. I guess she was listening!
  22. Sounds like the first hole on my practice course, except instead of birdie, par is a great score. It seems like there is a jinx on it if you are the only one to make par in your group. For years if only one person made par, that person was going to have a terrible round. However, if another person also made par, then the jinx was off. I can't tell you how many times I have rooted for someone else to make a putt!!
  23. Any grip other than what you have been playing will feel awkward at first. If you want to change, it's not like you change a light bulb and it works. It will take a long time until the new grip starts to feel normal; I'd give it 2 months. and you can't be switching back and forth. It's a commitment, one should not take lightly. Play what feels good unless you have a reason to change.
