Only made 2 putts over 7’ and they were both 40’+ left breaker for birdie.

Didn’t see a thread on this and will keep this open as long as we stay civil. What’s your golf “hot take”? Here are a couple of mine NEVER take swing advice online from someone that won’t show you their own swing! Shafts can’t affect dynamic loft without affecting other factors such as directional ball flight. Shafts are more than just a fine tuning component. Golfers can wear whatever they want Music on course is better than having to hear others scream when they make a 5’ par putt!

Thought for sure I’d have some updates today but this morning there was too ouch humidity or something as the Mevo kept misreading or just plain missing shots. Ended up playing the Aretera the whole round as I forgot to switch it out before getting to the first tee. Tomorrow’s round will be just the VG unless I get lucky and no ones on the course so I can switch around

Gonna head out early tomorrow to try to grab some numbers with the VF vs the Aretera Blue 55/4. Depending on how I feel, I’ll either play my VCT tourney round or use the round to play on course with the 2 shafts. Really looking forward to the comparison. I told my local guy that my perfect shaft would be if the VF and Alpha One Grey had a baby. Feel, right to left flight, and speed of the VF with the spin and launch of the Grey.

It’s definitely tough to do. I think of those that need multiple to get there Scottie has the best shot. I’m not counting Rory out just yet. If he can get on one of his heaters at the right time it’s possible.

It does make it more difficult for sure. I have played plenty of their shafts and know my swing pretty well so that helped me. It has been pointed out plenty but the key is to understand that all GD shafts are based off the DI(blue board profile). So when you see their charts about launch/spin/bias/butt,middle,tip stiffness, it’s actually off the DI. This is part of the reason I have mentioned the Aretera a couple times when someone brings up the VF and Ventus Black. For me their feel is no where near the same even with my VF tipped 1.75” and the Ventus black I tried being untipped. The Aretera Alpha One Grey is very much similar to the black for me.

It’s basically the mechanical room that I put all my golf stuff in so it isn’t seen! Nothing super special but it is air conditioned lol. Got a small putting mat and a bench to work in my clubs. Once I get my garage sim done I’m gonna have some shelves and whatnot out there for my golf stuff. Do it up right.

Yeah the trunk is the worst place for clubs when it’s hot out. When we get a heat wave here I won’t even keep my clubs in my cart in the shed. They come to my air conditioned Golf room lol

Congrats on the win sir. You are in a unique situation here. An unofficial review of those sweet T-series irons and getting more involved in the community is a great way to get your foot in the door for member testing if that is something you are interested in. We already know by your entry that you read the contests rules and followed directions. That’s a tough one for many.

It’s funny you mention the Ventus black. I was gaming the Aretera Alpha One Grey 65/4 shaft before this review and that shaft screams Ventus black but with better feel for me.

Just saying this now. One of the points of our reviews are to test the claims of the OEM’s. Not to worry about industry standards or what a robot would do. I have see Duke with both the UB and VR. GD says the VR would be more left bias and that’s what he is seeing from what I gather. That’s what I want to hear about. Alright now let’s get back on topic of the reviews.

I never said anything about mass production. Both odyssey and Toulon tried to capitalize on Xanders pga win and more than likely will do it again. Limited Edition or not they did it. Toulon was also limited edition and currently unavailable(could have sworn it was clickable the first time I looked) but I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if they do another limited run at the least. Might even bring something similar to retail but who knows

They absolutely are trying to capitalize on it. It was available and sold out quick on callaway and Toulon is still taking pre-orders to be available in September. The Toulon one will be built to his exact specs not sure on the odyssey one

Can they sell it? Technically it’s a Toulon design and I thought they split NVM- appears that both Odyssey and Toulon are trying to sell them after the PGA. You can still preorder it from Toulon but odyssey is sold out.

it’s still early in the process but the feel of the VF has the Aretera Alpha One Grey 65/4 being moved. I like the more active feel of the VF better. Will be seeking out a Aretera Blue 55/4 as that may be a better comparison cuz I really think they are on to something with that company. Along with the more active feel, the VF is more left bias than the Aretera Grey and for someone that prefers to see the ball go left that’s huge. Gonna try() to get on a trackman this week or next for some concrete numbers.

No updates as I’m not following that much. Everybody seems to sue everybody over the smallest thing and then it never amounts to much. Don’t see this being all that different than the others but who knows. As for the Alpha One Grey, it is officially out of the bag and don’t see it going back in. After playing the VF I very much prefer the kick in the VF so I’m gonna try to snag an Alpha One Blue 55/4 as that will probably be a better comparison. I plan on concentrating on the VF for the official MGS review but will update here if I grab a blue 55/4. I will also do a full write up on the Grey/Blue once the GD review is done so stay tuned. I’ll just end this like this for now. If you like the Ventus Black but want a touch more feel then the grey is perfect for you.

Hopefully. I did change the weights on the smoke TD Max before the round. Went with a 14 front 2 back vs the stock 10-4 trying to lower the launch a little. It for sure did via the eye test.

Good stuff here guys. I really wish I would have been closer to make this work.

Is trueing similar to pureing? If so in my opinion it’s a waste of money. But as Jamie said, it’s a topic that can and will go off the rails quick as there are people that think it’s pointless and some that think it’s the holy grail of golf.

Played this morning and while I score well I didn’t hit the same 12/14 fairways this time. lol. I did manage 8 FIR and was never in trouble where I didn’t have a 2nd shot in. The VF/TD Max is definitely longer on average than the Aretera/PXG is. I had a few 300 yard drives today that were almost all carry. As I get more and more comfortable with the VF the swing speed is climbing back up. I’m hoping to get some Mevo Plus time where I can switch back and forth between the Aretera and VF in the TD Max. I very much prefer the active feel of the VF. Here is a picture of the 563y par 5 dogleg right 4th. Managed to cut the corner and find the middle of the fairway 220 out. If I could bottle this up I’d groundhog day this feeling over and over.

Then lipped out a birdie putt in 5 and left a birdie putt like 3” short on 6. Then the wheels feel off. 3 bogeys to finish the front 9 and 2 to start the back before righting the ship. Another birdie on 18 for a 37/39.
