  1. Great classic old style setup there. Sent from my LG-D850 using Tapatalk
  2. Definitely thinking of the EvnRoll Putters!! Beyond that, the Srixon 565 really have my attention, even though I shouldn't even be looking at or considering irons at this point..LOL
  3. Took advantage of the 70 degree weather and got in 9 this afternoon. Didn't play too well, 51. Really didn't have anything working at all. I guess the good news is on days like this earlier in the year it probably would have been a 54 or 55. Still not great but the colors were spectacular.
  4. I began the year at 26, currently at 17.9 I was coming off a couple years of not playing and recovering from two TKR surgeries in late 2014, I didn't play much at all last year. New job with more opportunity to play and practice had me set a goal being at 17 by the end of this year. We have another week of posting season here, so I may not get to 17.0 but I'm in the neighborhood. With more practice I might have gotten there, but I played more golf this year than probably the past 4 or 5 years combined. Close to 39 rounds and will definitely top 50 next year, now that I have a year in settled on the new job. Will probably set a goal of getting to 13 or below next year.
  5. Sorry, I've been away for a few days and didn't want to answer this on my phone, as I wanted to take time to answer it. 1) Actually I pretty much turned my bag over by mid summer, before joining MyGolfSpy. So not too much of a chance to be influenced by the reviews of the clubs I bought. 2) It has made me more aware of the technology that goes into a a lot of the clubs. A lot of times from the manufacturer you just get the benefits, with MGS you get a lot of explanation on the how and why of the technology, from an unbiased source. 3) The purchases I made earlier in year have definitely lowered my scores, from a 26 HC at the beginning of the year to a current 18.3. Most responsible are the Titleist 816 H1 hybrids. They are the easiest clubs I have ever hit in just getting the ball up in the air and going straight. They have helped me reach or get very close to the green on some long par 4's that I didn't have a chance to before. The other clubs are the SM6 wedges, I was over due for new wedges as the grooves on my previous 588 DSG were worn out. These happened to be the first ones I tried and from the start I was very confident that I could hit any short game short with them, from flops over a bunker to nice chips off a hardpan greenside lie. 4) Kind of ties into the above answer, shooting socres in the 90's as opposed to the 100's is much more fun Also being able to hit short game shots that save pars or bogeys from bogey's and doubles, is really something I've taken pride in.
  6. Haven't played an 18 hole round in almost three weeks. I have to rectify that for sure, as I have two competitive rounds coming up next week in Pinehurst.
  7. wore a new pair of FootJoy Pro/SL last night for the first time. They were OK, but not the ultra comfortable, I had hoped they'd be as I was hoping to wear them on a couple walking rounds at the end of the month. So much for buying a pair without trying them on, which I rarely ever do!!
  8. I missed the rep the day he was by our course, don't you know the one day I go out for lunch instead of eating onsite...LOL But I have heard similar thoughts as yours from others. If it's half as good for me as the 816 H1 has been, I'll be a very happy camper.
  9. I have anxiously been awaiting the 917 release as in my mind it was a forgone conclusion I would be picking up a D2. But I have to admit the new BB Fusion has certainly caught my attention.
  10. 9/1 has me down to 19.3 from 19.6...ha so i guess that's progress. Began the year at 26 with a lofty goal of getting to 16, don't know if I'll make that, but next stage is sub 18, then go from there.
  11. I just ordered a pair of Footjoy Pro SL. Can you believe they will be the first pair of Footjoys Ive ever owned. I'm very anxious to see how they are.
  12. A bit embarrased to post this but 103 on Saturday. Probably my worst overall round of the year. I didn't hit it well off the tee, hit it ok from the fairway. But I never got a feel for the greens. They were as firm as hardpan, we had two straight 95 degree days preceeded by a months worth of 90 plus as well. they were very crusty, and couldn't get a good roll on anything. I had one blowup hole a triple on a par 5, but everything else was a tap in double when I should have made at least 5 or 6 bogey putts and maybe two or three par putts. But that's GOLF!!
  13. I would love to see more DC/MD/VA guys on the map and on the forum.
  14. I've never hit the SM5's So I can't compare them to my SM6, but those that I know that have hit both, said the jump in improvement from the SM5 to SM6 is astounding. And I haven't hit the MD3 either, to be fair.
  15. Rough night last night in the league. Felt like I hit the all decently, but decently led to not clearing one hazard on the approach to a par 5, missing too far left into a hazard on a par 3, getting lazy on a tee shot coming off a double and losing it to the right hazard (penalty strokes adding quickly). So that's how it went, too many doubles and not enough pars. Fortunately the short game was very sharp and saved a horrible round (49) from becoming something approaching a number I hadn't seen in quite a while.
  16. Those (545) are such awesome irons. Both in looks and performance. They came very close to being in my bag.
  17. That was a pretty cool test and neat results. I have a 3w I'm happy with right now, but I have spoken to others who really like the M2 3 wood that they've been playing.
  18. Those are distances I'm not familar with, I must have gotten weak SM6's.
  19. LOL!! Yep F grind on the 50 and M on the 54. If I recall correctly the grinds correctly that gives me teo options when the ground goes from very hard (f) to a bit softer (m)
  20. I have the 50 SM6 amd have my Set aw just sitting in the corner. I am even thinking about ordering 45 or 46 in the SM6 which would replace the PW of the set as I like them that much.
  21. Held at 19.6 only two rounds so far in August. That will change this week. A bit disappointed I haven't gotten below 18 yet this year. Stsrted the year at 23 and had a goal of 16 by the end of the year. Still very doable. But I need some solid rounds the rest of this month and September.
  22. Congrats and every reason to be proud, well done!
  23. They are really solid putters. The look becomes less obtrusive when you see your putt roll into the hole or snuggle up close for a tap in from 30 feet. I ended up with Scotty X7M, but an RX5 was very close to making my bag.
