    Fairway = target
    Green = target
    Unless I am missing something, I think you could say that on every hole.  That should not classify all course as "target golf."
    The 7th at Pine Valley might be described as a penal or heroic design based upon where the tee shot ends up and what options the player has trying to either play short of HHA, play over it, or try to reach the green surrounded by sand.

    I've never played Pine Valley but from what I have read there is a benefit to playing certain angles to get better views or options for approach play.  If you have multiple potential targets with different options for play moving forward, I don't think it of it as a target test. After all, you might be able to describe all golf as a target test because the idea is to get the ball into the hole, i.e., target.

    However, my statement was perhaps a bit too generalized.

    "Target test" sounds like a good description of bland architecture in my opinion!

    So Hamilton this week on tour... All I remember is that the 18th hole "asks" for a tee shot short of a creek/water area and then a longer second shot into a par five.  I'm all for old style architecture, but the design of that hole seems to be a little forced.  I think it might be more interesting moving the tee up and forcing players to make a decision whether to risk the carry.  I wonder if the conditions will be different this year.  Last year I remember it was soft.

    Very interesting. Thanks for the posts.  I love my Nitron but would love so help with the electric, so I think I will wait to see if they improve the model.
    EDIT Love you flag bag!

    Can anyone comment on whether sound changes with a DF 2.1 going from regular steel to another shaft? I love swinging the DF without a ball, but really struggle with the sound when making contact because to me it sounds like a tin can. I know the material of the head plays a significant factor, but I'm looking for opinions if this changes with the shaft. Perhaps if I win the lottery I could buy each of the different shafts, but alas that is not currently a viable option.

    Sam was on the Golf Smarter podcast and introduced the new putter! Perhaps a 2024 review post is in order!
